Chereads / Festac / Chapter 3 - Episode 2 (Time is of The Essence)

Chapter 3 - Episode 2 (Time is of The Essence)

|POETIC INTRO|

"She doesn't give a damn about being late!

Because she's rather late than be the late!

Time would be a trifle if there were no expectations and purposes,

Time is the essence in a world home to the reality of purpose!

Time is indeed a goddess who rules with no rule!

She's brutal, selfish, cruel and startling.

She's unpredictable yet promising to the ones who comprehend her personality.

{Akoko ko Duro de ẹnikan}"

MONDAY MORNING AT MR BALOGUNS MANSION(FESTAC, LAGOS)

TEMI

Where are my car keys?

(She soliloquises as she searches through her drawers)

MARIA

(Granddaughter to Mrs Aisha Abunakar)

Is everything all right, Ma?

TEMI

I cannot find my car keys

MARIA

You should talk to your sister about this. She frequently used your cars on unusual occasions when you were overseas

TEMI

Are you serious? I strictly pleaded with her to let them be times without number.

(She walks angrily to Eniola's room)

Eniola Balogun! I specifically pleaded with you to keep your hands off my properties.

Oh my G, Eniola!

(she walks in on her sister's nude figure beside an unfamiliar muscular  bareness)

ENIOLA

(She whispers)

Shut your mouth and lock the door behind you!

TEMI

(She covers her eyes with one hand and stretches the other for her key)

Please give me my car key. I'm late for work.

ENIOLA

Here it is

(she drops the key in her hand)

please keep this to your self and I would much appreciate it if you knock next time as courtesy demands.

TEMI

Forgive me for my lack of manners. I never knew you intend bringing  your lifestyle to your father's house.

(She angrily walks out of the room)

_____________________________________

"Kelvin tries to bring Eniola back to bed"

ENIOLA

If you were a host of common sense, I believe you would be trying so hard to find your way out of here before someone else finds us here without balls in  our scrotum.

KELVIN

I get it, Eniola. I'm leaving now, but when do we get to do this again?

(He buttonss up his vintage designers)

ENIOLA

Forgive me for leaving out my most important sexual principle.

A night with a stranger is a night history shouldn't witness twice, for time is of the essence, and this essence should remain in its time.

(She drops his pants in his hands)

KELVIN

I find your rules and personality peculiar, but you should not deny yourself the pleasure you truly desire.

ENIOLA

It seems you are yet to wipe off your dusty brain. I guess she still sleeps while your body is half into the day. I am Eniola Balogun.

Your feet are too fluffy to walk my world twice in a lifetime. I expect you to be happy in a lifetime, for this one time is worth ten times a Grammy, the best of you do not deserve!

(She lit a cigarette)

KELVIN

I get the fact that you may have the world at your feet, though you can not govern the universe. We will all kick the bucket naked. The worms will feed on this skin you are willing to keep away from the sun no matter the cost; as long as the entitlement to wealth and fame ends the moment our hearts stop beating, we are all walking corpses, the forgotten ones await.

(He walks out of the room)

TEMI IS ON HER WAY TO WORK|

"There is fire on the mountain top...."

Temi sings along to one of Asa's songs as she drives in her pink 202o Porsche.

"She couldn't contain her joy and excitement. She could see her dreams about to eat her way into reality. This is everything to Temi, a long-time commitment about to pay off"

"Yes, this is it!" Temi said to herself as she approached Festac Central Hospital's main gate. She gazed upon the dusty entrance and the individuals coming in and out of the gate. She slowly rides over the last speed bump next to the gate. She scans through the buildings in search of the Emergency ward as instructed by Dr Akande earlier.

This must be it!" Temi said to herself as she finds a place suitable for parking. She turns of the engines as she steps out.

"As her feet touched the ground, so did her heart perched on the carpet of relief. She scanned through the front entrance to the emergency ward for a minute then she works in with a touch of pride and excitement boldly written on her face. "

DR FRANCA

(she approaches Temi)

You must be the new doctor, Temi Balogun ?

TEMI

Yes, I am

(She wears a contagious smile)

Dr FRANCA

You have been assigned to the emergency ward; good thing you came here; come with me, please

(Temi walks behind her as they both entered the ward)

"Temi seized this moment to skim through her new environment; it wasn't what she foresaw and deduced. The environment appeared unkept; the building looked unfashionable and had this mixed sense of exciting offensive whiff"

Dr FRANCA

Dr Yemi, this is the lady I was talking about earlier. I have assigned her to you so she will work with you and your team.

Dr YEMI

(The Chief head of on of the themes)

Oh, that's nice. We need all the hands that we can get this place never seizes to be busy.

Dr FRANCA

So, Dr Yemi will inform you of everything you need to know, if you have questions, ask him and your teammates too.

(She gaze at Temi)

TEMI

Thank you, ma.

(She bows in appreciation)

Dr FRANCA

All right, I will leave her with you. I have a meeting to attend now.

(she walks away, gazing at her wristwatch)

TEMI

Good Morning, sir

(she avoids eye contact with Dr Yemi)

Dr YEMI

Only if the morning could witness a late entity speaking of how good she is when her eyes never witness thee. There are three things I believe man can't control or possess, one of them is time; if today were indeed judgement day, the flames would be filled with excitement over your welcoming party

TEMI

Forgive my lack of sensitivity to time and its essence. It was and would never be my intention to get on her wrong side; neither is it a habit of mine to show up to events and appointments in odd colours. I plead with you to overlook my one-time misconduct.

(She wears a facial expression home to regrets and remorse)

DR YEMI

I believe there is no need to speak on the essence of a first impression though I will scrap off the scene like it was never meant to be in the movie.

TEMI

Thank you, sir words alone cannot express my gratitude.

Dr YEMI

That is okay; these are your teammates', This is Dr Temi from today. She will be part of the team. Dr Temi, this is; Dr Raphael, Mabel, Pascal.

(He introduces Temi to the rest of the team)

TEMI

( She appears Shy)

Hello, Good morning. Nice to meet you all. I'm Dr Temi Balogun.

(She formally shakes hands with them)

Dr YEMI

So, Dr Mabel, have you attended to the woman with a fractured leg?

Dr MABEL

Yes, sir, I have, all she needs is adequate rest, and in 2 to 3 weeks, she should be okay.

Dr YEMI

What about the little girl with fainting spells?

(He stare s at Dr Henry in anticipation of feedback)

Dr HENRY

Her test results are not out yet, but she's stable for now.

( He adjusting his large goggles)

Dr YEMI

Please hand over all reports and responsibilities concerning the little patient to Dr Temi immediately.

TEMI

Sir? Me?

(She appears surprised)

Dr YEMI

Yes, ma you, I believe you are here to work. In this ward, there is no room for idleness. I understand the courtesy that comes with the first day of work, but this is the Emergency ward. We need all the hands we can get. I also learned you are schooled overseas, so consider this your chance to prove yourself worthy of your identity as a western medical product.

TEMI

Thank you, sir; I won't let you down.

Dr YEMI

All right, I will leave you guys to your duties now. Do not forget to leave your reports on my desk before leaving.

(He walks out of the room)

Dr MABEL

He appears fearsome, right?

(She asks Temi)

TEMI

Kind of but not exactly, I think more mysterious and grumpy.

Dr MABEL

Do not worry about him. He is a man with many shells that can only be altered by familiarity

Dr HENRY

This is your patient's file, Dr Temi

(He gives Temi the file)

TEMI

Thank you, Dr Henry

(She bows out of formal courtesy)

Dr HENRY

It's fine, Temi. You don't have to be formal. We are colleagues.

Dr PASCAL

Forgive my sudden curiosity. My eyes and brain keep bugging me over your familiarity

( He approaches Temi)

TEMI

I spent the last eight years of my life in Oxford, and if your eyes have indeed captured my being, your brain could have only recorded the stature of a woman long gone.

Dr PASCAL

Hmm, if you say so, though, I'm yet to be convinced of that.

(He walks back to his desk)

TEMI

When will the test results be out?

(She scans through her patient's file)

Dr HENRY

Some of them will be out later today though the major ones may take a day or two.

TEMI

All right, can I see the patient?

Dr HENRY

Sure you can follow me,

(He leads the way)

_____________________________________

Dr PASCAL

Guys, I am very certain I have seen that Dr Temi before. I cannot tell when and where.

(He relaxes his back on his chair)

Dr MABEL

Let it go, Pascal. Even if you have, does it matter?

Dr RAPHAEL

Exactly! It doesn't matter, and I think this is more about getting her attention than familiarity!

Dr PASCAL

I do not care what you believe, i know that I have seen that woman before.

Dr RAPHAEL

But that is not possible; Pascal she spent the last 8years of her life overseas. She said it herself even Dr Yemi validated that earlier. You, on the other hand, are yet to see the Nigeria border.

(He teased)

Dr MABEL

I agree with Raphael on this. I sincerely doubt that you have seen her before. The chances are very low. Maybe it's a Mistaken Identity. You probably have seen someone who looks like her.

Dr PASCAL

Hmm, you may be right, Mabel, but I seize to speak further on this matter.

_____________________________________

Dr HENRY

Hello, how are you doing?

(He asked Awelle, who had just woken up from a short nap)

AWELLE

I'm fine.

(She scratches her eyes with the back of her palms)

Dr HENRY

Where is your brother?

(He asked Onyinye)

ONYINYE

(Awelle's Auntie)

He went to the restroom to change. He should be back in a minute.

Dr HENRY

All right, this is Dr Temi. She will be in charge of your sister; please communicate this to your brother when he comes; I will be leaving her with you.

(He walks out of the room)

TEMI

What is your name, beautiful girl?

AWELLE

Awelle ma

(She replied in a beautiful voice)

"Michael walks into the room"

MICHAEL

(Father to Awelle)

Hey baby, you are up?

TEMI

I guess you are the older brother?

MICHAEL

Oh yes, I am any problem?

TEMI

Oh no, I am Dr Temi. I'm in charge of your sister

(She initiates an opening for a professional handshakes)

MICHAEL

(He accepts her handshake)

Oh, that's great. I'm Michael, by the way; I don't think I have seen you here before.

TEMI

Oh, I just joined the team recently, however. I wonder how you were able to take note of my first time here? Temi asked.

MICHAEL

Oh, so it's indeed your first time here? you are the new doctor everyone has been talking about.

(Michael subconsciously ignores her question)

TEMI

(She noticed Michael ignored her question)

Information has again retained her throne as the goddess of speed and mystery. Though it disturbs me that you intentionally avoid my question.

MICHAEL

Oh, I work here. I'm the chief head of the sanitation department, so I am very familiar with all the medical personnel in the emergency ward.

TEMI

Oh, it all makes perfect sense now.

(She kept wondering how a cleaner could appear so sophisticated, well-spoken, educated and handsome)

MICHAEL

(Ouch! He exclaims in disguise as he holds tight to his left ear to appear more convincing)

TEMI

(Appears worried)

What seems to be amiss? Are you all right?

MICHAEL

Forgive me for frightening you. Your beauty just keeps echoing in my ears, not that it bothers me, but I can't help but confess it

( Oh yes he pulled a prank)

TEMI

You got me worried for a moment, but I can't help but derive pleasure from your sense of humour and compliments. Thank you, I appreciate it

(Her cheeks couldn't help but blush in excitement)

AWELLE

Does that mean I have the most beautiful doctor attending to me?

(She shines her yet-to-be thirty-two)

ONYINYE

Yes, you do, baby!

TEMI

According to the reports, it says she has been experiencing series of blackouts, fatigues, loss of appetite, vomiting, headaches and frequent eye pains.

(She flips through Awelle's file)

ONYINYE

Yes, ma, especially the headaches and loss of appetites.

TEMI

Okay, I learnt she had taken some of the text as requested by Dr Henry though I will add some other tests she has to take later in the day

( she notes down the tests)

MICHAEL

So what is your conclusive opinion concerning the prospective diagnoses of my daughter's case?

(He appears worried)

TEMI

("Daughter"

Temi said in a low tone that she was surprised by the fact that Awelle was Michael's daughter.

"Could he be married? Did I hear wrongly? Or could he be a single father?"

Temi kept asking herself.)

MICHAEL

Did you say something?

(He kept wondering what she was mumbling to herself)

TEMI

Oh no, it's nothing. As for your daughter's diagnosis, I cannot confidently point my fingers at it. Though I am caught up between two possible diagnoses, I can't speak of them yet. We shouldn't conclude on anything  let's wait for the results. Only then can we be certain of what the problem is.

(She wears comforting facial expression)

MICHAEL

I did not get the answer I was expecting, but I find your words comforting enough for me to worry less and stay optimistic. Thank you.

TEMI

You are welcome, Some of the results will be out later today, so I will be back to review them with you, but if I can't return today, then you will be informed of all the results tomorrow.

MICHAEL

All right, I'm late for my morning shift. Permit me to be excused.

(He establishes eye contact with Temi)

TEMI

Oh, you can leave. I have communicated all necessary details concerning Awelle.

(She watches Michael as he walks out of the room)

_____________________________________

TEMI

Does your brother really work here?

ONYINYE

(Onyinye had her mind in her zipped-up pocket)

Oh yes, he does forgive me for keeping you waiting. I'm slightly absorbed in my world, but I will be fine. I want my niece to be okay.

TEMI

Relax, my dear; she will be fine. We all should stay optimistic. We both know fear is a product of "what if" and "what if" is yet to happen, and till it does, all forms of fear remain a product of that which does not exist.

(She takes Awelle's temperature)

ONYINYE

I must confess you are putting me in a box where I can't just help but question your profession.

TEMI

(Appears confused)

Can you throw more light into what you just said, especially my actions putting you in a position to question my profession?

ONYINYE

Oh no, it is a compliment. I wondered how a medical doctor sounds so much like a professional Therapist. It's so cool. I meant no disrespect Ma.

(She apologized)

TEMI

Oh, it's fine. I get it now. Thank you for the compliments.

ONYINYE

By the way, why did you ask if my brother worked here? Wait, I'm gonna answer that myself. He appears and acts too good to be just a janitor. I get that too. I also feel he could be so much more, and many times, I am aware that many people here gaze at him with low-value tags and it kind of hurts a lot.

TEMI

I understand you, my dear, but if we want to be realistic, there is absolutely nothing about his job that should give people the right to disvalue him. As long he is solely involved in legit source of income, he and everyone around him who cares about him should be proud of him. If he is getting that right now, then the opinion of the hospital community should be as weightless as the feathers of a desiccated vulture.

ONYINYE

I find your words comforting, but I strongly think  You speak of this conveniently Because your shoes are less  tighter than mine. I mean no disrespect, but I am very certain you will comprehend the   Differences in our shoe sizes by looking at it as a conversation between a medical doctor and a low-class lady who is the sister of a janitor.

TEMI

(She Smiles and Shakes her head)

Where is the lie in all you've said, my dear? But just because shoes are different doesn't mean they all don't have their differences, weaknesses, and strengths. Can I tell you both a secret?

(She goes closer to Onyinye and Awelle)

The chairman of Festac Hospital is my uncle.

ONYINYE

Wow really? Why do you work here, then? You belong to the high class. You shouldn't be here. I don't get it?

( She appears confused)

TEMI

I am here because I have a dream to self-actualize. My sole reason for becoming a medical doctor is to give back to the community that which money cannot buy. I was born with a diamond spoon. My whole life, I have been asking myself if I was born into my family because I deserved it or because it was a spontaneous act or  I just got lucky? I surveyed the society and found out that everyone has something to offer. However, the event of circumstances, situation-ships and uncertainty have messed up the fairness of the universe to distribute equally to all who possess the breath of life. Therefore, I made up my mind to give back as much as I can to society.

ONYINYE

Wow, so what exactly are you trying to tell me?

TEMI

In essence, my dear, people should be treated equally. No one has the liberty to see your brother as less of them because they are privileged to live the life he can't afford yet. I want you to know your brother will be fine. Things will get better, and soon enough, all of this will slowly begin to make sense.

ONYINYE

Wow, I learned a lot today. Thank you, Ma. I appreciate it.

AWELLE

I learnt a lot, too!

(she displaces are yet to be thirty-two again)

MR ADETOLA HOME OFFICE (IKAJA LAGOS)

MR AKIN

(Mr Adetola's secretary)

Sir, Chief Balogun is here.

MR ADETOLA

(The NEC Chairman)

Oh, okay, let him in, please

"Chief Balogun walks into the office"

Mr ADETOLA

"E kaaro sir e Jojo Joko,"

(He said in Yoruba)

CHIEF BALOGUN

"E se o",

(He Thanked him in Yoruba as he took his seat)

MR ADETOLA

So what can I do for you, Chief? I know you never leave your space for just a casual visit. We both know there is more to this.

CHIEF BALOGUN

It seems I am becoming too predictable these days, but I rather talk about why I am here.

Mr Chairman, we are both busy men, so I have no intention of spilling a drop of time on the ground. We both know I am here because of the elections. It is no news that Mrs Adesoji is leading right now, and I am sure you are aware of how this can bring chaos to my long-time statue of impeccable Ego

MR ADETOLA

I completely comprehend you, Chief. Your wishes are my commands. Speak freely with authority of what you wish to be done and your loyal subject will bring your wishes to reality.

CHIEF BALOGUN

My son will be declared the winner of this election, and you must make sure nothing and no one stops that.

All of this could have been taken care of with a phone call, but "Chief Balogun" decided to leave his throne for your home to communicate the importance of this election to him and his family.

MR ADETOLA

I understand you, Chief and I want you to relax and watch your wishes corrupt her way into your reality.

CHIEF BALOGUN

This is an upfront to motivate and boost your interest in my wishes.

(He drops a Fifty Million Naira Cheque on Mr Adetola's table)

MR ADETOLA

Oh no, Chief, I Cannot accept this. You have done enough for I and my Family.

(He pushes the Fifty Million Naira worth of paper towards Chief Balogun)

CHIEF BALOGUN

And there will be so much more I will do. There is no place for rejection in my politics. I decide what you get and what you shouldn't.

( He pushes the cheque toward Mr Adetola again)

MR ADETOLA

You have been blessed with the gift of persuasion Chief. One can not deny himself what you wish for him. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it.

(He picks up the cheque)

CHIEF BALOGUN

Could you permit me to take my leave? I have other matters to attend to today, and I do not want to take any more of your time. As the saying goes, "Time is true of the Essence"

(He gets up to leave)

MR ADETOLA

Once again, words cannot express my gratitude to you.

MR AYO BALOGUNS MANSION (FESTAC LAGOS)

"Taiwo moves back to his fathers house as instructed by Chief"

TAIWO

E kaasan sir

(He greeted his father in Yoruba)

MR A BALOGUN

Oh, Taiwo, you are here already. Welcome home, son.

(He flips through The Moment Newspaper)

MRS B BALOGUN

What brings you here, if I may ask? Mrs

(She inquires in an angry tone)

TAIWO

Good Afternoon Ma I have decided to move in as instructed by GrandFather.

MRS B BALOGUN

It bothers me that you find my question amusing. I know the consequences of ignoring  Chief's commands, but that doesn't mean I find your presence necessary. You left by will without our consent, and I find that too disrespectful to ignore.

TAIWO

Come on Mother, we do not have to argue about this. We know this has nothing to do with me leaving without your consent. Besides, I didn't return because I felt guilty about leaving a home that never welcomed me. I am here only because GrandFather instructed, and I strongly suggest you speak to Chief if you find this arrangement too unbearable.

MRS B BALOGUN

Are you stupid?

(she approaches Taiwo, intending to drop an angry palm on his cheek)

MR A BALOGUN

If where you lay tonight is important to you, then I suggest you watch what you do with your weightless palm.

Mrs B BALOGUN

Are you threatning to throw me out of my home because I reacted to your so-called first fruit's disrespectful act towards me?

MR A BALOGUN

People do not just throw stones, but many of us pay intense attention to how much the rocks puncture our ego, leaving out that our ego sometimes attracts these stones.

Mrs B BALOGUN

What does my pride have to do with this? Your son bathed me in mud, and I find your reaction to this so unpleasant?

MR A BALOGUN

Respect is earned, woman. Should I scold a dog who keeps barking to protect its territory? Or should I talk about how your pride has eaten much into your pupils that you see no wrong in your actions? Hmm, as for you, Taiwo, no matter what the Queen has done to wrong the Crown Prince, the Queen remains the King's Wife.

TAIWO

Forgive me, father, for my gross misconduct lately; I won't stir up moments like this again.

MR A BALOGUN

Find the fastest shortcut out of my presence!

TAIWO

Yes sir,  I will go up to my room now.

(He walks towards the stairs)

MARIA

Let me assist you, sir.

(She carries some of his luggage)

TAIWO

Oh, Thank you!

MARIA

You are welcome, sir. How have you been? Maria asked as they both climbed the stairs.

(They both climb the stairs)

TAIWO

I'm doing okay my dear How about you, How are your studies?

MARIA

The new section will be kicking off next week

"Mr A Balogun decided to send her to The University of Lagos as a form of appreciation to her Grandmother, Mrs Aisha Abubakar who was Mr Balogun Nanny and that of Taiwo and all his siblings"

TAIWO

You sound excited. What about your Grandmother? Is she around? I haven't seen her in a while.

(They both worked into Taiwo's room)

MARIA

Oh, Granny is fine. She stepped out about an hour ago to run some errands for your Mom.

(she attempts to sort out Taiwo's luggage)

TAIWO

Oh no, it's fine, Maria, I will do that myself. Thank you, and please let me know when Granny returns.

MARIA

Okay, sir, may I be excuseed?

TAIWO

Yes, my dear, you may.

_____________________________________

Mrs B BALOGUN

Ayomide David Balogun!

(She addresses her husband in his full name)

MR A BALOGUN

What do you want, Bisola? What is it this time?

MRS B BALOGUN

Are you seriously asking me that right now? It speaks volumes that you never try to see things from my end, Ayo. Your wife was disrespected, and all you could do was demand an apology. You even went ahead to scold me in his presence! You keep giving him more ground to plant crops in a land that isn't his.

MR A BALOGUN

Did all of what you just said make sense to me? Yes, Bisola. Should I have scolded him more? Yes, Bisola! But why didn't I? Because you always make it about yourself, you never take responsibility for your mistakes and shortcomings! Maybe if you made him feel welcomed, non of this would have happened! I am not questioning your authority as my wife or as the queen of this home, but your treatment towards Taiwo is way too unpleasant.

MRS B BALOGUN

What did I do that is so unacceptable? Kini mo ṣe ni akoko yii? Your son was just three months old when I took him in! I have given you the best of me, but you can't let go of the fact that I can't be your late wife! Why Do you keep making me feel compared to your so-called precious wife, What else do I have to do to please you?

MR A BALOGUN

(He slaps her)

In point of correction, Bisola, "Our Son", Don't you ever speak of my late wife again!!!

MRS B BALOGUN

Did you just slap me, Ayo?

(Tears rolled down her cheeks)

MR A BALOGUN

Yes, Bisola and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Have you no guilt and shame that your ill attitude towards Taiwo began the very moment Chief began to address him as his next of kin? All that is of importance to you is that which benefits Bayo. Maybe you forgot but let me clear the air again. There are two sons in this family. Bayo will always come second to Taiwo, and I will do everything I can to keep it that way. The intensity of my disappointment in you is very much attached to the fact that you are aware of how it feels to be mistreated and rejected. My mother never approved of you. Yet I Ignored her wishes and married you because I love you, Bisola. It pains me so much that you of all people speak of my late wife in such an ill manner.

(He gets up to leave)

MRS B BALOGUN

Where are you going, Ayo? Please let's talk about this.

MR A BALOGUN

I have nothing else to say to you, woman. I have said my piece. I have a meeting to attend now do not wait for me I will be home late.

( He walks out of the room)

ENIOLA

E kaasan sir

(She greeted Mr A Balogun as she walked down the stairs)

MR A BALOGUN

(In a furious tone)

Eniola Balogun, talk some sense into your mother "jowo", or her lack of sense will cost her this marriage.

(He walks upstairs)

_____________________________________

"Eniola appeared perplexed she turned out to be a witness to the whole scenario. From a crazy view, she watched her father drop a palm on her mother's cheek"

ENIOLA

Mother, are you okay?

(She places her right arm around her)

MRS B BALOGUN

Your father slapped me, Eniola. I am finding it hard to process the possibility of that even when my cheek still trembles from what it is that it is in my reality.

(She tears up again)

ENIOLA

Ahh, why mother? Why did father hit you?

(Eniola pretence to not have witnessed the scene)

"she concluded that the best thing to do at that moment was to keep the truth about her witnessing everything that happened.

~Letting her know I saw everything will only make her feel more embarrassed" Eniola said to herself"

MRS B BALOGUN

I'm still trying to figure that  out my daughter. I keep asking myself what I did or did not do that would make me deserve to be slapped by your father?

(She wipes off her watery eyes)

ENIOLA

(Eniola puts up a facial expression to indicate that she couldn't relate.)

"How can you be asking yourself what you did or did not do to earn yourself a slap? You spoke ill of his two favourite people: first love and first fruit. Everything will be fine?"

I will talk to father about this when I return. Please do not stress much about it. You know the election has been stressing him lately.

MRS B BALOGUN

Are you trying to defend him?

ENIOLA

Ahh, rara ooo, why would I? I'm only saying Daddy isn't the violent type, and it's possible that the election stress could have made him react this way. That is all I'm saying, mother.

MRS B BALOGUN

Just shut your mouth Eniola. Please leave me be.

ENIOLA

Ahh Sorry o nor vex, I will be going now. Please take care of yourself. Maria is upstairs;  let her know if you need anything.

(She gets up to leave )

CHIEF BALOGUNS MANSION (BANANA ISLAND LAGOS)

MRS K BALOGUN

Dr Shade, it's been a while.

(she hugs her old-time friend)

DR SHADE

Yes, it has. How have you been?

MRS K BALOGUN

I have been well, my dear. You went overseas and left me here

(she offered Dr Shade a seat)

DR SHADE

Kate, you never called while I was away. You only did when my husband informed Chief of our Granddaughter's wedding.

(she folded her hands as gaze at Mrs K Balogun)

MRS K BALOGUN

I have no excuse, my friend. I should have called. Please forgive me.

DR SHADE

No problem, Kate, you know you are my oldest friend. I can't hold a grudge. However, I am here for some other important reasons, one of them is to gift you this

(She offers Mrs K Balogun a Limited Edition of the just released Luiz Vitons Bag)

MRS K BALOGUN

Aww, this is beautiful Thank you, I appreciate it.

(She feels the quality of leather in disguise)

DR SHADE

You are welcome, my friend; my second reason for being here is because of the election. You know my son is your son's running mate, and the fate of Lagos is in the hands of The Balogun's, to be more specific, Chief Balogun himself. It is no news to both of us that the decisions of Chief himself prevented Ayo from winning four years ago. So I am here to plead with you and Chief to consider how his decisions this time are very much tied to the future influence our families have over Lagos,.

(She picks up one of the glasses of wine earlier served by one of the housemaids)

MRS K BALOGUN

Worry not, my dear friend. Chief plans for our sons are different this time. Time alone is the only personality between our sons and Lagos governorship position. All we have to do is wait for time to concur with our wishes.

DR SHADE

Never have you sat on the actions backing up the sincerity of your words, so I will take a bold step and put my doubts and paranoia to death.

Lastly, my dear friend, today makes it exactly a year since both families decided that one of the ways to intensify our economic and political influence and power was to set up an arranged marriage between Taiwo, the oldest heir to the Balogun fortune and my second daughter, Simi. Don't you think the season to make this contract a reality has come? Simi wouldn't let me be. You  know she has always had something for your  GrandSon.

MRS K BALOGUN

If I must be blunt, my friend, we both know neither of us has much say in this matter it is up to Chief and Your husband. The men in our lives have made it clear to us that this union is purely business, and we both know Chief and your husband do not mix business and family. But I promise to bring this topic up in conversations with Chief.

DR SHADE

Mo dupe lowo ore mi.

(She Thanked her in Yoruba)

MRS K BALOGUN

O kaabo si ore mi.

(She replied in Yoruba)

MARIO's HOTEL AND SUITS

TINA

(Mr Baloguns mistress)

Baby!

(She said to Ayo as she toys with the dark Curly hair on his light skin chest)

MR A BALOGUN

Yes, my love, what is it?

TINA

You promised me a trip to Dubai Three weeks ago. Ever since I haven't heard anything from you.

MR A BALOGUN

I know, my love, but we both know my hands are tight now. We will have to delay the Trip a little, at least till the election is over. I have my image and that of the party to protect. In moments like this, all eyes are on me. The opposing party will do anything to prevent me from winning this election, and I can't risk that. Being here with you is already too risky. I'm risking it all to be with you, Tina. So please try and understand me, Biko!

TINA

I know my love but for how long? How long are we going to keep hiding under the rocks? When do we get to do things together without worrying about the press, your family image, your Wife and Politics? I'm tired "m gaghị agha ụgha ooo"

(She speaks  in Igbo)

MR A BALOGUN

No, Tina, please don't talk this way give me till the election is over I promise to keep to my words this time oya smile for me? What do you want? Just mention it, baby girl.

(He tries to brighten her face)

TINA

I love you for your generosity Ayo, but I want more. Money certainly can't buy our freedom right now. I want to love you and be with you without these rules.

"She plants a French kiss on Mr A Balogun's dark lips; she slowly kissed down through his chest to his belly button. She then picks up his dark Coated fleshy pride and bury's it in her watery mouth. "Iwọ yoo pa mi ni ọjọ kan ọmọbirin yii", Mr A Balogun said as he mourned in excitement; he gently wrapped her newly made Ghana weaving around his left hand as he slowly pushed her head up and down his pride

As his eyes were shut of sight, he exclaimed in excitement,

"Yes, Tina! one day, you go kill me ooo".

This is just the beginning, Tina said as she climbed on top of him and gave him the ride of his life.

Mr A Balogun slowly placed both hands on her waist, home to strange colourful beads. She slowly put her right nipple in his mouth as she called his name.

"Oh my god, Ayo, eat me up. I just want to cum for you"

She slowly switches her Nipples from time to time as she rides him harder.

"Mo ti pari. laiyara bọ" Mr Balogun said in Yoruba.

Tina slowly stops riding as she noticed Mr Balogun had drowned her in his white liquid.

TINA

Did you just cum?

"In moments between her question and a blink of an eye, the hotel room door was forced open. Two armed men worked with their guns pointed at Mr Balogun and Tina."

MR A BALOGUN

(In a trembling voice)

Ahh, what do you want, Is it money? Please spare my life.

MRS ADESOJI

(She walks into the room)

I want everything, Ayo!
