Max tapped the paper again. "The random target idea is smart—it reduces the chance of a connection. But you'd need to pick a time and place where witnesses are unlikely. Even on a rainy night, you might not be the only one in the area. If someone sees you leaving, they could describe your height, build, or even the raincoat. Cameras in nearby streets could track your movements before or after."
Victoria's face fell, her confidence shaken. "So my plan has too many holes."
Max leaned back, his expression thoughtful. "It's not hopeless. It's just not foolproof. The rain helps obscure evidence, but it doesn't make you invisible. The key is to eliminate every traceable detail—no distinctive clothing, no identifiable movements, and definitely no lingering in the area after the act."
