Chapter 5 - Gravitational shift

"The winner will get a prize of €1,000,000. Plus, the winner will also be the leader of the war. If you're interested, go through the door over there, and you'll get your own room."

We exchanged glances, our eyes wide and questioning. But then we all nodded together and walked towards the door, eager to see what the tournament had in store for us.

That's when a stunning brunette handed me a letter with my personal room number, A-36, and the rules. With the map I snatched from the main conference room, I located my room in a flash.

As soon as I stepped inside, I was impressed by how cool my personal room looked. It had a large bed with its own telephone, a kitchen full of snacks, and a clean bathroom with a shower and bath combo! It was much better than what I'm used to back home. This tournament was going to be awesome!

I lay down on the comfy bed and tore open the document with the rules. As I read on, my excitement rose with every line. Apparently, we'd all be sleeping for three days straight after getting a serum, then have a whole week to prepare for our first fight. And listen to this - we could each choose one special weapon, but there was only one of each type, so we had to be quick.

If we won a fight, we could take one of our opponent's weapons to add to our collection, with a maximum of three. But if we lost, we were sent to another building for a free-for-all match. The winner of that fight would get a chance at the final round. The ultimate winner of a fight would be decided when their opponent yielded or was killed.

I jumped off the bed and grabbed my map, eager to get a weapon before anyone else did. I sprinted towards the main conference room, feeling a rush of adrenaline.

I reached the weapon room, and my heart skipped a beat as I entered. A tall man greeted me with a nod. "Hello," he said, "I take it you're here for a weapon?"

I grinned, feeling a burst of energy. "You bet I am," I replied. "What have you got?"

The tall man handed me a list of available weapons, and I quickly scanned it, my eyes widening at the variety. "Wow," I gasped, "there's so much to choose from."

"Indeed there is," he said. "Take your time and let me know if you have any questions."

I spent the next ten minutes studying the list, my mind racing as I considered my options. I wanted something that would give me an edge in the competition, something that would make me unique. And then, I saw it – the katana sword.

"My finger shot towards the list, my heart racing with anticipation".

"That's the one!" I exclaimed. "I want the katana sword."

He nodded, looking impressed. "Ah, a wise choice," he said. "You'll receive your weapon right before your fight. I just need your name."

"Ebubekir," I said proudly, "Ebubekir Braha."

He smiled, his professional demeanor never wavering. "Very well, Mr. Braha," he said. "I'll make sure you're all set. Just remember to be careful with that sword – it's a powerful weapon, and it demands respect."

I nodded eagerly, already imagining the thrill of wielding my new weapon. "Thanks, man," I said, feeling a surge of confidence. "I won't let you down."

As I left the room, a wave of excitement and anticipation was washing over me. This was it – my chance to prove myself, to show the world what I was made of. And with my new katana sword in hand, there was nothing I couldn't do.

Before returning to my room, I decided to take a sneak peek at the tournament brackets. My eyes sparkled with curiosity and excitement as I scanned the names of the participants. I spotted my friend Valdrin's name on the first fight, and I gave him a thumbs up in my mind. But as I moved to the second fight and saw that I was paired with Caleb Davis, a stranger to me.

This was what I had been looking for - a mystery opponent who could challenge me with their skills and techniques. I clenched my fists, ready to face whatever came my way.

After heading back to my room, I took a quick nap, feeling refreshed and energized when I woke up. I couldn't wait for my first match, and the excitement was bubbling inside me.

As I made myself some eggs to satisfy my hunger, I thought about the upcoming fight. I knew that anything could happen once I entered the arena.

After my shower, I was just relaxing on my bed when the phone rang. I picked it up and heard the sweet voice of a young nurse telling me to come to medical room A-025 right away. I shrugged, always up for new experiences, and quickly made my way there.

When I arrived, the nurse greeted me with a warm smile and asked me to lay down on the bed. She looked young and sweet.

As she prepared the serum, my heart raced, and my palms sweated. But the nurse was gentle and reassuring, and her calm voice soothed me.

After the serum was administered, it burned in my arm, and darkness engulfed me. Before I could react, excitement bubbled up in me for whatever was to come next.

When I finally came to, I got up from my bed and saw a note left by the nurse. "Sorry for not being here, we had some issues with another participant. Feel free to go to your room. The document on your powers will be there," the note read. I felt a wave of excitement wash over me as I ran towards my personal room.

I opened the door and found the note on the bed. "Ebubekir Braha" was written in bold letters, followed by the description of my power. "Gravitational and mass manipulation!" I shouted, feeling ecstatic by my amazing abilities.

I read the fine print and learned that the only possible side effects were temporary unconsciousness and headaches. I screamed with joy, "The downside is nothing! This power is incredible!"

I calmed down and realized that having such a powerful ability would make me a strong contender in the upcoming competition. With my new power, I could easily control the battlefield and defeat even the toughest opponents.

But I also knew that I had to be careful with my power, as it could backfire and knock me out. I needed to find a way to balance my enthusiasm and caution.

I was eager to test the limits of my new power, so I ran to my private training arena with excitement boiling inside me. As soon as I got there, I picked up a rock and threw it in the air. While it was still flying, I used my gravitational manipulation abilities to increase the gravity as much as possible. I was astonished when the rock hit the ground with enormous force, almost cracking the floor beneath it. I tried to lift the rock with my hand, but it was too heavy to move.

A sudden surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins as I used my power to decrease the gravity of the rock to the lowest possible level, and it shot upwards. I was so absorbed in the moment that I overdid it and passed out, hitting my head on the ground.

When I opened my eyes, I saw four doctors looking at me. I asked them what happened, curious to know what I had missed while I was unconscious.

"You overexerted yourself and passed out," one of the doctors said.

I nodded, aware of the dangers of my power.

"How long have I been out? Did I miss my fight?"

"You've been unconscious for six days, but you still have two hours until your fight. However, I don't think you're fit to compete in your current state," the doctor told me.

But I didn't give up. "I have to win. Even if I have only one leg and one hand, I'll still fight," I said, my voice firm.

The doctor frowned at my stubbornness. "It's very risky, but it's your choice."

"Danger? To me, it's just another Tuesday. Winning isn't born, it's made.," I said with a grin, ready for anything.

I left my bed and went to my room, my head still aching. I cooked some eggs and devoured them with hunger. My excitement mounted as I realized that my fight was in less than half an hour. This was the most thrilling moment of my life.

I sprinted towards the arena, arriving a good 20 minutes before my match was due to start. The door was locked, but I tapped my foot impatiently for the staff to arrive and let me in. After a few minutes, a worker from the "weapons" room came and handed me my katana.

"Good luck," he said with a smile.

"Thanks," I said, feeling my heart pounding with anticipation. I entered the arena and confronted my opponent, Caleb Davis. His left arm was attached to a hand crossbow that shot automatically when he squeezed his fist. I wondered what kind of power he had.

I glanced over at the spectator area, and I spotted my friends Anes and Valdrin. But I was puzzled by Mehmet's absence.

As Caleb advanced, he smirked at me. "I hope you're ready for a real challenge," he taunted.

I just laughed in response. "I'm always ready for a challenge," I retorted, my confidence shining from every pore. "But are you ready for me?"

Caleb's expression shifted for a moment before he regained his composure. "I'm ready for anything," he asserted.

As soon as the fight started, Caleb fired an arrow at me. But my reflexes kicked in, and I avoided it with a smile. However, I was stunned when Caleb disappeared from my sight.

What kind of power does he have? I thought. Suddenly, a sharp pain stabbed the back of my head. Caleb had crept up behind me and hit me with a powerful punch. The pain was intolerable, but I shrugged it off.

I stumbled forward, trying to regain my balance, as Caleb landed another punch on my jaw. The pain was intense, but I didn't flinch. I felt the headache getting worse, and I knew that I had to end this fight quickly.

I slashed my katana at Caleb, but he disappeared from my sight again. He was too fast for me, I realized, as I tried to follow his movements. A sharp pain jolted my side, and I saw that Caleb had reappeared and hit me with a surprise attack.

He was stronger and faster than me, but I didn't give up. The cheers from the crowd gave me the courage to keep fighting, even when things looked grim.

My eyes widened as I finally understood Caleb's true power. "Ah, I get it now! You have the ability of invisibility!" I shouted with a grin. The challenge of facing someone with such a remarkable skill only made me more excited and resolved to beat him.

Caleb chuckled as he faded from my view again, his presence becoming more menacing. "You're slow on the uptake," he mocked, his voice echoing in the arena. I had to admit that he was confident and calm, even as he had the advantage in the fight.

I refused to give up. Comfort and luxury were nice, but excitement and new experiences thrilled me. And as I faced an opponent with such a unique power, I was filled with a rush of life.

Even though I knew that Caleb had the power of invisibility, he still outwitted and overpowered me with every move he made. His hand crossbow and hand-to-hand combat skills were unparalleled, and I had a hard time keeping up with his lightning-fast attacks.

Every hit felt like a ton of bricks crushing my body. The first punch hit my ribs, making me wheeze. The second hit my temple, making my head spin and my vision blur. The third strike was a swift kick to my stomach, making me bend over in pain.

As Caleb kept attacking me, my headache got worse, and I started coughing up blood. The pain was unbearable, but I didn't give up. I held on to my katana, using it to block and deflect his attacks, even as I stumbled and fell to the ground.

He smirked, looking me up and down. "Some people just aren't cut out for this." he said with a smug tone.

He kept hitting me, landing super-fast punches and kicks. Every hit felt like a hammer smashing my body, and I could barely stand. He was a master of hand-to-hand combat, avoiding my attacks with ease.

I swung my katana at him, hoping to surprise him, but he simply moved to the side and delivered a powerful punch to my stomach. The impact knocked the air out of me, and I bent over in pain.

Caleb took advantage of my weakness and delivered a series of quick jabs to my face, leaving me stunned and confused. I staggered backwards, barely able to stay on my feet, and Caleb continued to press his advantage.

He landed a fierce roundhouse kick to my ribs, making me gasp for air. Then he followed it up with a brutal uppercut to my jaw, snapping my head back and sending me crashing to the ground.

I used every bit of strength in my body to pull myself up and stand before Caleb, refusing to be defeated. The rage that burned within me gave me the motivation to fight on, despite my injuries. "You haven't beaten me yet," I said, staring him down with fierce resolve.

But Caleb just laughed, a cruel sneer twisting his features. His laughter echoed around me, mocking and taunting. It only made me angrier, driving me to fight even harder. "I'll show you what I'm made of," I growled, my grip tightening on my katana.

I wanted nothing more than to unleash my fury upon him, to make him suffer and beg for mercy.

I decided to use my power of gravitational and mass manipulation, hoping to turn the tide of the fight. I focused on Caleb's hand crossbow and increased its mass and gravity to the maximum. I hoped that it would make it too heavy for him to use and slow him down.

But Caleb was too clever for me. He noticed what I was doing, and quickly detached his hand crossbow from his arm. He threw it at me, and I barely dodged it. The hand crossbow hit the ground with a loud thud, cracking the floor beneath it.

Caleb smiled wickedly at me. "Nice try, but you'll have to do better than that," he said, as he faded from my sight again.

I cursed under my breath, realizing that I had wasted my power and energy. I tried to sense Caleb's presence, but he was too good at hiding. A sudden chill ran down my spine, and his presence loomed over me.

I turned around, swinging my katana, but he was faster. He grabbed my arm, and twisted it, making me drop my katana. He kicked it away, and I watched helplessly as it slid out of my reach.

Caleb's grip on my arm tightened, sending a surge of pain through my nerves. He leaned in close to my ear, and whispered, "Checkmate. Your moves are up."

He snapped my arm, and I screamed in agony. He let go of me, and I fell to the ground, clutching my broken arm. I looked up at him, and saw him standing over me, his eyes cold and merciless.

He reached for his hand crossbow, attached it to his hand, and loaded it with his last bolt. He aimed it at my head, ready to finish me off. He smiled wickedly, as he said, "There's no escape now.""

I used my power of gravitational and mass manipulation to deflect the bolt. I increased the mass and gravity of the bolt, making it too heavy for him to shoot. The bolt dropped from his hand crossbow, and fell to the ground, breaking with a loud clang.

Caleb looked at his hand crossbow in disbelief, as he realized what I had done. He cursed under his breath and threw his hand crossbow at me. I dodged it, and it hit the wall behind me, leaving a dent.

I saw my katana lying on the ground, and I quickly ran towards it. I reached for it, hoping to grab it before Caleb could stop me. But he was faster. He appeared in front of me, and kicked me in the chest, sending me backwards.

As I plummeted towards the ground, I knew what I had to do. Despite the potential consequences, I made the decision to use my power.

As I rose to my feet, blood dripping from my wounds, I knew what had to be done. I clenched my hand into a fist, using the ground to steady myself before pointing my hand towards Caleb. With all the power I possessed, I decreased his gravity until he was levitating just a mere 10cm above the ground, his movements restricted.

I approached Caleb, ready to make him suffer. I unleashed a flurry of punches, each one fueled by the strength of my powers. With every hit, using my mass manipulation powers, I increased the mass of my hand, delivering an even more powerful blow.

Despite the blood that spilled from his mouth, I refused to stop. I continued to pound on Caleb, my attacks growing more and more savage. For two agonizing minutes, I unleashed my fury on him.

When I finally felt satisfied with the damage I had inflicted, even though I knew I would go unconscious, I decreased Caleb's gravity so that he floated off into the distance, far away from me. Then, with every ounce of power left in my body, I increased his gravity as much as I could, watching as he fell to the ground at a speed faster than sound.

As my vision began to fade, I saw Caleb's body hit the ground with a sickening thud, his flesh exploding into a grotesque pile of blood. I knew that I had won, that justice had been served.
