Baara smiled at the question.
She didn't make any plans, the only plan was to run away from the orphanage, although she did save some money, it wasn't enough especially living in this type of city.
"I didn't even have time to make plans, I decided that I needed to arrive here first before thinking about anything, I met Eve at the motel where I wanted to lodge at, she was working there and immediately she saw me she guessed that I just arrived and was not from here". Baara answered.
"Ooooh but did you run away from home?". Ariel asked curiously.
"Uh, more like she left home, She is of the age to, right?". Eve covered up for Baara.
"Yes, that's true, I just wanted to live my adult life in a different city". Baara said.
"That's cool, I envy you, I can't leave my house even at my age, I only leave for college or parties like this, I can't even go to a bar alone, my dad is very strict and overprotective". Ariel said.
Baara smiled at Ariel's statement, isn't that what she wanted..., To be born into a wealthy home, with loving biological parents, and go to college? Who cares about going to a bar?
Well, not everyone wishes or dreams the same.
"I am going to eat". Eve said standing up from the couch and walking towards the dining.
"Not after filling your stomach with wine, fatty". Ariel said jokingly.
"Worry about your best friend and let me be". Eve replied.
"Oh, yeah that's true, hmm, wonder what's happening outside?".
"At the rooftop right?". Eve asked guessing.
"Yeah, especially with Finley, I think Geal and Finley are hiding something".
"What do you mean?". Eve asked with her mouth stuffed with food.
"Nothing, let's just go up, I will tell you later when I confirm it".
The three went up, Baara who didn't want to swim at all just stayed over the edge admiring the glowing city. The cars, the buildings, the people, everything seemed so magnificent from that height.
Eve splashed water on Baara playfully.
"Just come in, nobody will bite you". Eve laughed.
Baara rolled her eyes at her.
Eve was very carefree and just wanted to enjoy her life in any possible way she can.
"Alright fine, I will come in". Baara decided to at least ease herself a little and just go with the flow of things.
Late the next morning, Eve and Baara both entered their apartments.
After partying all night, Baara needed some rest and decided to go to bed.
Today is Friday and normally Baara was supposed to be at work.
A few hours later Baara wakes up but this time from a good dream.
in her dream, she lived a rich life, where she felt like a celebrity, she had big houses and many luxury cars although she felt like something was missing in her dream she couldn't pinpoint what that was.
She ignored that feeling and woke up smiling.
'Maybe it's good to attend parties, what a nice dream'.
Baara thought to herself.
For a long time now, Baara can't remember the last time she had a good dream.
She has always had a bad one or no sleep at all.
She felt most at peace now that she doesn't have any work to go to this morning and had all the day to herself.
Baara came out of the bathroom after freshening up.
She put on her clothes and went to the kitchen, there was nothing ready to eat and no sign of Eve.
Baara took out a notebook, in that notebook, she had written so many things there, although it served as a diary it wasn't as she kept it anywhere and the notebook can be accessed by anyone.
She looked at the list of things she wrote down when she came into this city two years ago, she has only been able to achieve a few, there was still a long list of things remaining to be achieved.
Her savings wasn't even up to half of the amount she wanted to accumulate after one year of working.
Baara heaved a sigh as she threw her head back, relaxing on the couch to take a nap with the notebook on her thighs.
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door.
"Knock".
Baara walked to the door reluctantly, she didn't ask who it was and assumed that Eve would be the one at the door.
"Where did you go....". Baara couldn't complete her question as a gun is being pointed at her by a masked man dressed in black from head to toe.
"Just keep quiet and raise your hands". He spoke in a calm voice as he stepped into the sitting room.
Baara has seen guns but only in the hands of officers, she hasn't held or owned one nor has she seen one this up close especially when it is being pointed at her by an unknown man.
Baara became still as a statue, her mind stopped thinking and the only thing she could do now is to flow this masked man's instructions.
Slowly she raised her hands above her head.
She begins to take a step back little by little as the man entered inside still pointing a gun at her.
"Someone will knock on the door and ask if I am here or if you have seen me, act normal and say no".
He instructed.
Baara nodded.
The masked man went to her back and pushed Baara to the front near the door, still pointing the gun at her, he pressed the tip of the gun to her head so that she could feel it.
Immediately Baara felt the tip of the gun on her head, she swallowed hard, and beads of sweat started coming up on her face.
A couple of seconds later, there was another knock on the door.
"Open it". He whispered with a firm voice.
Baara tried to ease herself up as she opened the door, while the masked man hid behind the door ready to shoot.
