Baara sighs dejectedly as she walks to her apartment door and inputs the password.
As the door opens the sound of loud music could be heard.
"As the hours pass"
"I will let you know"
"That I need to ask before I am alone"
"How it feels like to rest on your patient lips.....".
Eve sings along as she twirls around the sitting room.
'I am back' Baara said to alert her.
"Oh! ok". Eve said as she continued 'To eternal bliss, I am so glad to know.....'
Baara rolls her eyes and left.
After a couple of minutes, Baara is done preparing the food and was trying to dish it into the plate. when the ceramic plate slipped from her hands and fell to the ground and broke with a loud noise.
"Why can't I have a normal day, ugh! on my day off and I am still not having a rest". Baara said frustrated.
'What is the matter?' Eve asked. As she heard the 'commotion' in the kitchen and wanted to see what was up.
"I don't even know where to start I am just tired of everything that has been happening today".
"Calm down and tell me," Eve said as
she pats her back calmly.
"Ok first I had a really bad day at work and when I came back to rest I had a weird dream, nope it was a nightmare and I was so frightened. This morning I went to the mall and someone stole my purse and that's where I kept my important cards and now I can't even eat the food I just prepared and my favorite plate is gone". Cried Baara.
Eve was shocked. "Someone stole your purse at the mall? That's insane who still picks pockets in this city".
I was shocked too when I noticed that my purse was missing after she bumped into me. Baara replied.
"Alright go to sleep I will take over from here, are you going to work tomorrow?" Eve asked.
"I don't think I can, that job is very stressful and time-consuming with no better pay. I think I will quit".
Eve smiled.
"Now you are talking sense. You will follow me out this evening, I want to introduce you to some people".
Baara stared at her with a 'please I am not interested' face.
"It's not what you think, don't worry I won't force you to do anything you don't want to, now go and rest, lemme do the cooking and cleaning". Eve replied nonchalantly.
"Thank you," Baara said sincerely.
You are welcome Eve replied as she focuses on cleaning the mess.
Baara walks to the room, lies on the bed weakly, and closes her eyes to rest, after a couple of minutes she sleeps soundly.
'Tap' 'Tap'.
Eve taps Baara softly to wake her up.
"Wake up, time to eat".
Baara wakes up with a relaxed sleepy face.
"mmm, what's that delicious aroma?" Baara said getting up.
I have prepared the food, come and eat. Eve replied.
'Oh, thanks'. Baara appreciated her.
"Yeah, Now eat up, and let's go outside". Eve said as she smiles wholeheartedly.
"To do what?". Baara asked confused.
"Have you forgotten already? we are going to meet up with the wealthy 'kids' this evening. Are you not interested in going with me?"
"Hmmm, I don't think I will be okay going there" Baara replied concerned that something would happen to her as she eats.
"You still don't trust me huh?".
Basara almost chokes on her food.
"What ?!"
"Yeah, I get it. You have had a tough past and you can't mix in well with people and want to be left alone, but if you continue like this you are just gonna be depressed again. You are only staying with me because you have nowhere to go. Do you even consider me a friend or just someone who is helping you that you have to pay back? You have known me for almost two years now and you still don't even trust me".
Baara was shocked at Eve's statements.
She never knew that this was the way, Eve viewed it, that she is treating her like a "person she had a professional agreement with" even tho she has been trying to loosen up and relate with her in her 'friendly' way.
Baara has known Eve for two years. When she came to this city newly she didn't have much experience of living by herself in this big city until she met Eve. Now thinking about it Baara felt guilty that what Eve said is true. All this while she has been treating Eve as a person who she has a 'contract with ' and not as an actual friend probably because of her past.
'Hmm, maybe I should have to loosen up a bit more and accept this "newfound friendship" not like that will affect anything, I have nothing to lose either way'. Baara thought to herself.
"Alright, I am sorry, I will follow you but I will be a bit clingy," Baara said as she smiled shyly.
"That's no problem. I will pick some clothes out for you". Eve said happily.
"I am sorry for the way I was relating with you, I thought you had preferred it that way. Ever since my best friend betrayed me, I have found it hard to open up a hundred percent to someone again and trust them".
"That's ok. You don't have to apologize, it takes a lot of time to heal past traumas and sometimes a lifetime." Eve replied.
"Ok so we are friends now," Baara said merrily
"We always have been, friends help friends in need right?"
'Yeah'.
"Alright enough of the emotional talk, let's get dressed and have fun tonight," Eve said as she wiggles her body happily.
"I am readyyyyy!" Baara shouted excitedly and dances with Eve.
The evening sky is getting darker as it was getting to nighttime. Baara and Eve had just left their apartment and entered the city's transit bus heading to the birthday party of one of the wealthy youths in the city.
