"Aloof Sky Kid"
However, he didn't respond. Just kept looking.
"What could shock him so much?"
"He's not even responding to Amelia."
"Maybe, we should look to see what he's shocked about?"
The crowd stirred, moving to get into view.
"MOVE."
The crowd froze, and almost as though a command, they stepped back. They turned, shocked.
"How come I moved?"
"I'm not sure."
"I suddenly felt like an overpowering presence compelled me to step aside and make room."
"?? Me too."
The Aloof Sky Kid stood there, unmoving, simply staring. On the side, a young woman finally moved. Her purple hair fluttered in the wind as she stepped into the light. Her hands, each finger sporting a ring, were delicate and nimble. Her long, flowing dress fell to the ground but never touched the ground. It was helped up by hands. Lined up with jewels fake and real, they reflected the light. She was literally a diamond in the rough.
If only she had the crown, she might as well be called a princess.
She had her own curiosity. The Aloof Sky Kid was of the same breadth as her. Socially insulated, well taken care of. They were both given the best education, public and private. Similar outlooks on life, interests, dislikes, and also curiosities.
What moved him moved her. What displeased him displeased her.
A match made in heaven was rarely seen.
They enjoyed each other's company and finished each other's thoughts. The only thing they differed on was the school of choice. Being from different countries, this was inevitable. Since he had no motivation to travel, she was the same.
They met during a meeting of youths organized by households to help them matchmake and ease the burden of dating. It was just called that, but there was no dating. Just meeting potential prospects. There were many such things, so there was no pressure to choose on the first go.
She roamed aimlessly, and so did he. She met him randomly, and so did he. He didn't give a name, but she did. She saw his hair and gave him a name.
She didn't expect it to catch on so quick and wide. She didn't mind. He had eyes just for her, as did she. It made their bond official, both emotionally and physically. She smiled every time they met, every video call after school, and every time they traveled over the weekend.
There was no place he wasn't willing to go, nothing he wouldn't try just for her. He was as aloof as the sky, yet at the same time free, bold, and daring, only revealing his deepest secrets for her.
How could she not be nervous then, seeing him so mesmerized?
Her curiosity overwhelmed her, her mind in disbelief.
There was light in the room, but not in the hall. There was just a small ray of light, but that didn't matter.
She witnessed it all too well.
Sitting on her knees, this girl was the manifestation of the moon. Enchanting, alluring, brilliant, like a chaotic rainbow in the infinite cosmos.
The black-silver hair that sucked out your soul, more purple than not. A dream-color eyeliner, starry blush complemented by gem-like lip gloss. A cardigan emphasizing a torso comparable to 9 planets orbiting the sun. Stockings that emphasized her lean and tender legs.
Of course, she blinked, believing it was all just a dream.
She wasn't. The only difference was everything was a shade of purple-dark-silver instead of black-silver
She felt inferior. The thing she had been imagining, the ideal lady she wanted to be that she thought her delusions were projecting, was in front of her.
Her beauty seemed like the 9th wonder of the world!
It wasn't a strange beauty, nor a bizarre one. Genuine, heart-pumping, mind-numbing, hormone-inducing beauty that made her timid.
She was pushed to the side as someone walked forward.
The Aloof Sky Kid.
His chest was large, bigger than normal. He had taken a breath and didn't exhale. He wanted to, but he forgot. In his eyes, the galaxy was reflected. He couldn't stop looking. The sun wasn't the center of the universe. Neither was Mercury, Venus, or Earth.
It was the moon orbiting the Earth. In this fantastic universe, the moon was the center around which everything revolved. This wasn't another universe but one of the mind.
The moon was the center in this world because he wanted it to be.
Sitting on her knees, this girl was the moon at the center of the universe!
She was so close, but so far.
"You are Mia?" the Aloof Sky Kid exhaled before asking.
The girl sitting on her knees, Mia, nodded in the affirmative.
"The Aloof Sky Kid lives up to his name. One look at him and all your problems are solved. Mia thanks this Aloof Sky Kid for providing such assistance. Mia shall not take any more time," Mia got up, bowed, turned around, and began to leave.
He tried to reach out and stop her from leaving. His reach was too short.
"Wait. Who said you were wasting my time?" the Aloof Sky Kid said.
"It is as hard as reaching the sky to get an audience with you. Mia was fortunate enough to have some insights while observing you. I will remember this favor," Mia explained patiently.
"What you said is reasonable. It is a blessing to gain insight, no matter how it was picked up. Would you like to show me what you gained? I can advise you if there are any errors," the Aloof Sky Kid suggested.
"The Aloof Sky Kid is wise. Forgive me if I do anything wrong," Mia responded and bowed.
"It is not a huge deal," the Aloof Sky Kid shook his hands.
As she stepped into the room, everyone took a step back involuntarily. The entirety of the moon seemed to have squeezed in, pressing against them. It was hard to move, breathe, or even ponder!
Every step she took weighed down on them. Every time she blinked, it was as though time froze. Every time she breathed, the crowd felt like time had reversed for that instant.
Literally, they a moon floating behind her, or was that a trick with their minds?
As she took her stance, she pulled up her bow. It was a simple one. Nothing fancy. She pulled the string. The moon behind her became more and more real. As it expanded, the floor, the walls, and the ceiling warped out of the way. The crowd panicked, trying to flee even as their sense of direction fell into a mess. Moonlight shone down on everything, filling her bow as moon dust fell off, scattering. A beast had started to stir from its eternal slumber.
The Aloof Sky Kid's pupils shrank. The prestige of the moon burrowed deep in his heart. It was a heart-palpitating respect that made him clench his teeth in respect. He didn't want to defile this sacred being.
He concentrated as the ornamental boxes behind him began to spin. There was a faint humming sound similar to a computer turning on.
She was quite familiar with them. Saw them being used all the time. She released the string when she heard the hum, yet there was no arrow.
The space rippled, but the ripple traveled. She was happy it wasn't all fake, some part of her imagination.
She was glad that Sikhail was real. She wanted to meet, hug, kiss, cuddle, and share her deepest thoughts with him just like she already did. She wanted to impress him with this shot of hers.
"Ha!" the Aloof Sky Kid shouted, feeling but not seeing anything strange.
His fists thrust forward as two lights, red and blue, shot out like lightning. The apocalyptic eye silenced all thought as the hand of benevolence calmed down all furor.
As sky and moon traveled, intent upon a collision, the carnage wrecked forced many to seek refuge down below in the depths of hell.
As the sky and moon collided, the sky held briefly before crumbling. The pillar supporting it could not hold the weight of the universe. It was just a tiny dot in the sky.
Terrifying ice storms ripped down the sky, seeking out life and blood. The citizens down below screamed in terror as buildings were reduced to nothingness. Right before the first human died, the force left as fast as it arrived.
(BOOM)
The Aloof Sky Kid was driven several feet into the wall as he had a coughing fit. That blow had threatened to split his courage, his calmness, his sanity, and his intelligence. His astonishing fortitude recovered as quickly as the clouds when they split. The cracks spread slowly, then faster, and even faster, not stopping until they reached the four corners.
Only then did it stop.
The fact that the wall stood. Was that a testament to its durability or to the attacker and their fine-tuned control?
A moonlight serenade started to play, seemingly out of nowhere. As the crowd felt it, they immediately thought of Mia. They turned. She was sitting on her knees, bowing her head in respect.
"I thank the Aloof Sky Kid for bearing witness to my strength. Your ability is terrifying like an angry sky. Without it, I'm afraid that this attack of mines would've run wild, and I'm afraid that I wouldn't have gotten a chance to understand how to reign myself in. Mia thanks you for incredible guidance," Mia said before getting up and turning around.
Just like that, the emergence of a rare moon cycle left an audience in wonder.
