The next morning, Luis was roused from sleep by a gentle tap on his shoulder. Blinking and disoriented, he opened his eyes to find Maria and Marco standing over him, both wearing broad smiles. Luis's groggy voice broke the silence, "What the hell? Why are you guys smiling at me like that?"
Maria's excitement was palpable as she replied, "Well, you should come see for yourself." She stood up from her chair and beckoned for Luis to follow her. Marco joined them as they left the waiting room.
Following Maria down the hospital hallway, Luis couldn't fathom what could possibly be the cause of their joy. They entered one of the private rooms where he beheld Lola resting peacefully in her bed. Lined up beside her were three cribs, each cradling a sleeping baby.
Luis was rendered breathless by the sight, and Maria, still beaming, grabbed his hand and led him closer to the cribs. "Look at them, they're beautiful," she whispered, pointing at the slumbering infants.
