Jayde stood in front of Ivy's room and knocked lightly on her door. He hadn't had a chance to ask about Ivy's condition before suddenly Rachel hugged him. There was so much he wanted to say to Ivy when he saw her standing over Rachel. Some anger still tucked in his heart. But that can wait. The relief now overtook him even more that Ivy had returned home safely and had not gone to another terrible place.
One minute later there was no answer from Ivy. Jayde tried to knock one more time. Louder and in a hoarse throat voice to tell Ivy he was here to talk.
Finally Jayde heard the sound of footsteps being dragged down the bed. Then the sound of a lock being opened echoed around the quiet hall. Jayde readied himself to see Ivy. And suddenly after the door opened, Ivy's body jumped at him. Jayde almost fell backwards if he didn't quickly grab onto the ledge and stagger forward to steady his footing.
"How are you, Ivy?"
