To hell with the stupid tears that finally trickled down my cheeks. Jayde clearly saw through it, but he did nothing to remedy the situation or at least put me at ease. Jayde actually stayed where he was, busy thinking about something that only he himself knew.
"Please leave me alone. Don't get in my way again."
"I thought you trusted me all along, Ivy."
I stopped in my tracks halfway up the stairs when Jayde started to speak. But I didn't look back at all, just kept steeling my heart to look straight ahead.
"We have managed to pass three years as very close friends. For two weeks we managed to get to know each other more closely and intimately. Why can't you still believe me and regret it now?"
"It's not my fault I doubted you, Jayde. Ask yourself why I said that to you."
