The two of them walked down the red brick path that led to the only stately home on the island. Ivy was somewhat amazed when she saw the well-maintained building. The house is white with pillars that stand firmly at the front. She thought the Jayde family had a taste for a house with grand pillars. Behind the house, she could see a beach whose waves were gently rolling on the shoreline. Birds fly low around the cold sea and try to grab fish that happen to be swimming near the surface of the water.
The end of the path is a carport that merges with a large, well-maintained green lawn. A dark blue canopy overshadowed part of the courtyard to keep out the ferocious winds that sometimes raged when the weather was bad.
"I don't think this house was left empty."
"Judith and Hudson stay here to look after the place."
"Are they inside now?"
"I have driven them to the mainland." Jayde grinned slyly.
