On 20 September 92, the qualityWind bustled through the branches of the trees, making the leaves howl in their symphony. Walking along the gravel path in the woods makes you realize how intricate the clash between weather and nature can be.
Two natural forces both in harmony and constantly fighting. The rain would come down any second; its distinct smell filled the air. Plush, intertwining clouds pushed their grey front toward where I stood. The trees continued protesting against the wind as it blew their seeds to the ground. Maple seeds twirled down, only to get stuck on Karalee's clothes; she was alone in this field, her clothes were torn, and they had traces of her mother's blood on them.
She has nowhere to go; she killed her mother; how will they survive? A soft wind chills through her spine as she enters the woods, sparse and grey. The drooping branches grab her loosely, like zombies pulling me into their pitiful graves.
Fallen twigs, colorless and dreadfully bland, are strewn about the squishy, muddy ground, crunching as Karalee continues from step to step. The wind picks up the pace as it rushes to its midnight duty, stirring a family of leaves from their state of repose, generating a faint rustle. The silence was deafening as the only harmonic sound that came to my ear was the winds clashing against the branches as they fell on the ground.
Karalee had a hunger; she could smell something in the nearby field; the scent was that of a Bbq right under her nose; her hand opened as she got down on her knees, and he sensed she grew more assertive.
Her mouth stiffened, her vision became clear, she could see and smell up to a hundred yards, her nails grew sharp as her razer sharp teeth pushed out, her nose grew point, as the white fur covered her like a black, she could hear and smell the close by an animal, she saw a deer and with an incredible speed caught up to it and killed it instantly biting the deer on the neck.
After the neverending lights of the city underestimated the utter blackness of nighttime in the woods, in her mind, the trees would be black trunks against a bluish charcoal sky, the path would become the deepest brown, and the moonlight would bleach the stones within it.
Hadn't every painting of woods at night been like that? Even if a moon existed tonight, its silvery rays would not penetrate the dense canopy above. Karalee was deep in the woods; the twilight, mistaken for the night, had passed rapidly. It could be no blacker in a coffin, six feet under and piled with dirt. She began to breathe the cool air more rapidly. The darkness pressed in on her from all sides, and her body screamed for her to return home when there were movements in the woods.
She heard a tree bark crackling like an old brown hardened leave being cracked; Karalee pushed sat with her back against the thorny trumpet tree; hearing the sounds she had once feared had now become a relaxation reminding her she was not alone.
There was a sigh of heavy breathing, approaching with heavy footsteps; with her enhanced vision, she could tell it was a big bear. Fearlessly she transformed and growled as the beer approached.
This bear was hungry and would not leave without a fight; its visible scars under its thick fur indicated it had its battles and had won; the bear moved closer fearlessly, and without waiting another minute, the wolf jumped up at the bear, and effortlessly the bear slapped her to the ground, It raced towards the wolf, a slapped linked its thick black nails into her flesh, she started feeling weak and dizzy, the bear never had a scratch on it.
Karalee pushed herself up from the ground and tried to fight back, but it swung her sound like a feather; she was no match to this enormous size bear; her best option would be to run, but with her energy level, she wouldn't get far before it caught up to her, and then out of nowhere six wolves came out of the shadows, and attacked the bear, tearing chunks of flesh out of the bear. The fight continued for twenty minutes before the bear cod no longer fought back. The pack wolves then went for the ultimate kill.
Karalee had forgotten she was one of them, as she feared for her life. She moved backward until moving against a tree's bark which was tilted over; the wolves turned with their mouths bloody while feasting on the bear; a big size black wolf walked up to her, and she shut her eyes. And felt a cold hand touching hers. She slowly opened her eyes, and there stood a handsome young guy, probably the same age as her.
Strong Jawlne, and black hair tanned, not wearing anything. "Careful, there are wolves out here."
She chuckled with laughter as she looked around; there were six naked teenagers, three girls, and three boys, standing beside the bear; a girl with long black hair, wak tanned, walked up to her, slender built, had an amazon figure perfectly curved. "Hi, I am Bella," she reached out her hand and introduced the rest of the crew, but the only guy who caught her eye was the guy standing in front of her; his name was Charlie, but people referred to him as Charles.
"I take it your new?" Said Bella; Karalee nodded, "it's okay, out here, one is new; I mean, out here alone?" She corrected herself, "It would be great if you could join us. We are like family, here to look after and protect each other unless you have to go back home?"
Karalee then remembered what had happened as she stood up, then suddenly the pain came back; her legs and arms were bloody and scratched open; the pain came like being stabbed multiple times, and she couldn't stand up straight; Charles placed her arm around his neck holding her up but the up, "I think it's best we keep her with us till she recovers, in this condition she won't get anywhere.
Bella agreed, and they proceeded on the long path through the woods; Karalee had passed out.
When opening her eyes, she was lying next to a fire; she looked around and noticed she was in a cave; this cave was lit up by torches burning; Bella, who was now wearing a ripped Jean with a black bra, walked up to her with a warm cup, "you should
drink this; it would help ease the pain.
"What is this?l Karalee took the cup hesitantly, "it's a homemade soup with a special remedy to help you heal faster. She smiled Gently, " Where are we?"
Charles walked over, "You are in a safe place till you recover. Then you can head back home."
Flashbacks came of her killing her mother, "what have you done?" She whispered as she tried sitting up, but the white bandage around her was stained with blood, "I think you need to stay here until you recover and just rest."
Bella looked concerningly towards Charles, noticing the severity of her bruises; Bella remained hopeful Karalee wouldn't have to see her grandfather to be treated or questions would come up. Questions that could risk Karalee's life.
There were only supposed to be seven Alpha Wolves; the seventh one was your grandfather. Karalee tried again sitting up and drinking the soup, but it was bitter; she spat out the soup, " What is this?"
Bella laughed, "You remind me alot myself when grandpa had first given me this, just I couldn't spit
It out because he would then make me drink twice as much."
Karalee eased up and became comfortable with her surroundings, "so a bear also attacked you?"
Bella shook her head and looked away, "No, I was almost killed by a Dhampir."
"What's a Dhampir."
Bella glanced at Charles, "I think you need to finish that soup and get some rest so we can send you back home."
Karalee didn't want to go back home; she did not want to face her dad and little brother after what had happened; what would she tell them, are they even safe? Her dad can't walk, and he is taking care of her family.
A tear rolled down her cheek; Bella looked at Charles and frowned, then asked, "Are you okay?"
Karalee never replied. She had just killed her mother, and her world had fallen apart; what if that Harold got hold of her brother? She had to protect him from the neighbor, but how would she do that if she couldn't walk?
"Girl, are you okay?" Bella repeated; Karalee looked up at her and nodded; she sipped her soup slowly. Until the cup was empty, she started to feel drowsy. Everything around her seemed blue; her thoughts and memories slowly faded as her eyelids felt heavy, "Wwwwhaaat did you give me." She slurped before drifting away.
