For a few minutes, Xua Ying Yue stayed silent before she parted her rosy lips and said," You have a way with words, are you this charming with every girl that you meet?"
" If you are calling me a flirt, then I have to beg your pardon. I am not a flirt, I just speak sincerely and pour my feelings into my words. It's not my fault that there are so many men with black lies that women find men like me charming," Zou Zeming leaned back on his chair and then took a sip of water from the glass which sat in front of him. " So, how are you going to deal with Professor Pei?"
" I don't think it has anything to do with you," Xua Ying Yue firmly stated as her guard raised once again.
" How does it not have anything to do with me? Have you forgotten what I told you? We are friends, I gotta know what kind of trouble you are getting into such that I can save your back when you fall deep," he placed the glass on the table just in time for a child to start crying behind them for something that he lost.
Zou Zeming did not even look at the crying child as his eyes remained fixated on Xua Ying Yue and he added, " I have a feeling that you will need my help so why not let me know?"
" Are you sure that you want to be a prosecutor to bring criminals to justice and not let them go?" Instead of answering Xua Ying Yue questioned him back. " Why are you so eager to help me?"
" Maybe because I care about you?" No sooner did Zou Zeming say those words, than he noticed frost glide into Xua Ying Yue's eyes and he waved his hand before continuing, " Just kidding, it's just that you simply remind me of someone."
His words caused Xua Ying Yue to frown as she asked, " Who?"
" You first," he tipped his chin at her as the waiter returned with their order and placed the spicy crayfish hot pot on the table. " You tell me what is going on in your head and in exchange I will let you in on my little secret, deal?" He paused and added, " Just so you know I might look like I am a bit carefree but I can help you in case you need judicial help."
Xua Ying Yue wanted to refuse that deal but then she sighed and placed the camera on the table before she picked up the gloves which were sitting inside a small holder and put them on.
As she went to pick up a crayfish, she started speaking, "It's nothing when I came to college, I realised that Professor Pei was with a man whom I knew but that man is married to another woman." She cracked the shell of the crayfish open and dipped it in the sauce before taking a bite. " They have a son together and apparently his surname is different from both his father and mother."
" Has it ever occurred to you that the child might be the offspring of Professor Pei's ex-husband?" Zou Zeming questioned as he looked at the woman in front of him with a calm expression.
" I would have noticed if he was her ex-husband's son," replied Xua Ying Yue with a firm voice, she raised her head and looked at Zou Zeming through the steam which was billowing off from the pot of spicy crayfish. " But he looks a bit too much like the man whom she is having an affair with."
Zou Zeming looked at her sharply and then asked, " Is this woman whose husband is having an affair with Professor Pei someone you know?"
" I wouldn't have bothered if she was not an acquaintance," stated Xua Ying Yue which sort of answered Zou Zeming's question.
With his lips pursed, Zou Zeming stopped eating the crayfish which were in front of him and then calmly raised his gaze to look at Xua Ying Yue, " Are you going to do a DNA test?"
Xua Ying Yue paused in her actions and then looked at him warily as she replied, " Yes, why are you asking?"
" I have an acquaintance who works in this field," Zou Zeming answered as he threw the shell which was in his hands aside. " I can help you a little if you allow me."
He brought his thumb to his mouth and sucked the dripping crayfish juice of the pad before continuing, " If all you want is a DNA test then he might be able to help you because you might not be aware of this —— you will find yourself in trouble in case it's traced back to you."
He was indeed right, if Ma Yao wanted he could trace the doctor who did the DNA testing and find trouble with her, it would be better if Xua Ying Yue found someone whom she could trust.
Xua Ying Yue thought she had underestimated this young man. He didn't seem like just a happy-go-lucky man with no worries in the world. " Then I will leave it to you."
She then paused and asked, "Now it is your turn I think."
Zou Zeming smiled with a raise of his brows, " You are indeed right, it's my turn." He dropped his hands which were raised in front of him and then pursed his lips as if pondering where to start. Xua Ying Yue did not disturb him instead she calmly continued with her meal when the man in front of her finally parted his lips and then said, "You remind me of a cat, you see… a pitiful little street cat whom I met with when I was in the middle school."
Xua Ying Yue paused and looked at Zou Zeming with a frown as she said, " Are you trying to mess with me?"
" No, I am not," Zou Zeming widened his eyes a little as he responded. " I am being honest with you. You are very much like that wild cat whom people used to beat as they liked."
