" Are you sure this is all you want?" Xua Ying Yue had never seen anyone shutting their mouth after getting just a small meal, which was why she could not help but be doubtful of Zou Zeming's intentions. Was he lying to her? Such that she will lower her guard and then he will attack her?
Xua Ying Yue could not be blamed for being exceptionally doubtful of the reasons for which Zou Zeming approached her after meeting a character like Lu Biya.
She knew that the girl was petty, vengeful and greedy to the bones. Though Lu Biya succeeded in sending her away, she did not get the final drafts of the book which she used to win the literary competition, with her more than ambitious desires to surpass everyone, it would be too far-fetched if Xua Ying Yue thought that Lu Biya was not going to come after her thus, anyone who tried to get close to her could only fall under suspicion.
" Stop thinking too much," said Zou Zeming when he saw that Xua Ying Yue was looking at him with that assessing gaze of hers, he was both offended and amused by the doubtful look in her eyes yet did not say anything upsetting.
Did he really look like a hooligan who wanted to take advantage of a young girl? Though Xua Ying Yue was beautiful, Zou Zeming had seen enough beautiful girls when he lived in the S city.
" I ditched my friends because I saw you, we were supposed to be heading to dinner but I ended up following a little girl," Zou Zeming snapped his chopsticks and then started to scoop some noodles which were drizzled with chicken broth and green onion with pork belly on the side.
Xua Ying Yue's expression turned solemn as she looked at Zou Zeming and then said in a cold voice, " I am not a little girl."
" Aren't you?" Zou Zeming smiled at her after he was done swallowing the bite he took just now. " You went after those two without even taking proper measures, clearly if I am not wrong from the night where you dumped water on that girl's head, you were on her enemy list…college has just started, surely that Qi girl might not have offended have many people in your class."
He pointed the tips of the chopsticks at Xua Ying Yue as he licked his lips and continued speaking, " And I don't think that she is a fool who will not be able to put two and two together, who do you think she will blame once she realises that someone deliberately followed her?"
Xua Ying Yue's pupils contracted as she looked at Zou Zeming who leaned back in his chair and took a sip of water from his glass.
He was truly impressed with Xua Ying Yue's courage. She knew when to back down and when to step forward, even though she was wronged by those two girls, she did not lose her temper because she knew that she could not make a scene on the first day of her college instead she chose another method to deal with those girls.
It was just that she was a bit sloppy while taking care of them.
" A perfect crime is one where no one will be able to trace anything back to you and do you know how it is done?" Zou Zeming asked as he looked at Xua Ying Yue solemnly.
" I don't," Xua Ying Yue was not a habitual criminal, it wasn't as if she was committing crimes every night. This was her first time trying her hand at something like this and Zou Zeming caught her, looks like she was still far too unskilled to deal with someone like Lu Biya and Master Lu.
Zou Zeming's smile widened making his dimples prominent as he took out his cell phone and snapped a picture of the two of them together.
His actions were so swift that Xua Ying Yue didn't even have time to stop him as she looked at him in a daze.
" What are you doing?" She asked as soon as her eyes settled back to the brightness of the shop after facing the bright flash of the camera.
" Alibi," Zou Zeming suddenly said when Xua Ying Yue was rubbing her eyes, his sudden words caused Xua Ying Yue to raise her head and look at him in surprise.
" What, don't tell me that you did not ever think of something this simple?" Zou Zeming questioned as he raised his brows and then leaned forward on the table such that both of his forearms were resting on the surface of the table as he looked around the small restaurant before lowering his voice,
" An alibi is crucial when you want to leave a crime spot seamlessly—— one that will prove that you had nothing to do with the crime scene, without an alibi even if you get away from the suspect lists, you won't be cleared off the charges but an alibi can prove that you had nothing to do with the crime that took place," his winked at her before adding swiftly. " In your case, I will be the alibi. If those two girls complain about you then you can call me."
Xua Ying Yue stared at Zou Zeming whose eyes were gleaming like a clear crystal filled with confidence and determination. She could not avoid his eye contact as she opened her mouth and then asked, " Why are you helping me?"
The man who was sitting on the chair which was in front of her slowly raised his lips in a smile, like the rays of the sun breaking past the gloomy clouds. " Because I want to. I know that you are not a person who will harm anyone without any reason, which is why I am willing to trust you. I will not stop you from moving towards your goal, but I hope that you will remember that someone is willing to bet his trust on you —— do not let me down, all right?"
His warm smile which was as beautiful as spring blossoms, was truly contagious as Xua Ying Yue felt her eyelashes flutter a bit before she nodded and replied, " I understand."
Zou Zeming pointed to the bowl which was in front of her and then added with a soft voice, " The noodles will get cold take a bite, some things are meant to enjoy when they are warm."
