keep running, that is all I can think of as I am being chased. Master chief can out run them, but for me, it's just not enough. worse yet, it keeps bidding it's time, like its playing a game with me, or maybe it's following it's instincts.
Once I got through the open area, I heard it's growl, if it could be called that. I turned around with my pistols, firing as much as I could from where I heard it. My heart beating like crazy as I saw it. it's flesh, it's mangled body, and moving tendrils from its chest. The bullets weren't affecting it as it came running towards me. it jumped into the air as I jumped to the side, barely missing it's arm. it smells awful, a rancid smell of puke, puss, and rot. I felt like I was gonna throw up, but I didn't have time, I kept firing at it's chest hoping to hit it's core. My shots we not hitting to my frustration, it just moved too much as the parasite controlled the body, my first pistol emptied while I finally managed to hit it with my second pistol, killing it as it turned towards me again.
I looked around but didn't see anymore, I kept breathing heavily as Sylvie looked at me, urging me to keep going. I fired the remaining 3 bullets destroying its arms, and opened my pouches to replace the magazines. I didn't want to face another, so I ran, I kept running, adrenaline fueling me as I got out of the area. After an hour, I was finally inside the underground area where master chief drove his tank through. I kept breathing hard as I stopped running, trying to catch my breath, I opened my backpack, and took out a injector from the med pack.
Looking at the injector, I couldn't help but let out a breath, and injected it into my arm. At this point, I'm probably addicted to it, but I don't care, I don't want to die.
I looked ahead, and saw it was like before, scorched body pieces everywhere, thank God they didn't leave whole for the parasite. I looked around, but again no weapons, or ammo. I cursed, even if I packed extra ammo in my backpack, it wouldn't be enough to last all the way if I faced those things again. Once I got close to the bridge, I noticed one of those things waiting by the gate, it was hitting the door trying to get through.
I took my sniper as I holstered my pistols, I aimed at it's chest as I calmed myself. it kept moving so I couldn't get a direct shot, I waited for it to slow down, praying. Once I got used to it's movement, I fired, sadly I only grazed it enough it tear off the side with it's large arm.
Looking at it falling to the ground, I fired again missing it, as it quickly got up running towards me. Panicking I fired again, and again, as it ran straight at me before finally blowing open it's chest. Looking at it's body, I didn't feel comfortable being there, I save the remaining bullet in my pocket, reload, and sling my sniper back.
Afraid more will show up from somewhere, I quickly made my way to the gate. I activate the gate, and listen Incase there were more on the other side. I looked around behind me just incase, as I ready one of my grenades with my pistol in hand, waiting for them to show up, but they did not.
Once it fully opened, and all I saw was an empty corridor I moved ahead. Since there was nothing in my way I couldn't help but sigh, "thank God"
I quickly walked through, and kept moving forward. It took so long walking, and running earlier I was exhausted, and as I used the stimulants and medical syringes to get me through, I knew that I needed to get checked medically.
Once I finally made good distance through the cave, I started listening for activity. I continued to push through the incline, scorch marks, and burned body parts littered the ground. I'm thankful again that they didn't leave them behind for the flood.
Walking close to the entrance I hear plasma fire, and growls. I get down, and crawl up to the exit, far into the left side, I see covenant fighting against the flood. I don't want to get involved, so I crawl towards the right side while they're busy, away from their vision. I move forward sticking to the walls as I hear them fight each other, looks like the chief didn't clear the rest out, and just pushed through. I hear explosions in the distance, and see Elites with energy swords walking around, I quickly hide behind a boulder, and pull out my binoculars. I look at them, wondering how I would get passed them, after looking around I just don't see a way through. after a while of looking, I see a group of flood come from the left side, seems the covenant from earlier lost the fight, the elites quickly head over to kill them.
Seeing this as my chance, I run close to the walls, I hear an elite call out to me in anger, "human!" Feeling the adrenaline, I sprint past them, and make it to the other side. I don't stop, I just keep going, I see the path go to the lower level, and keep sprinting down. I slip, and fall near the end, but the snow lowers the impact. I quickly get up, and sprint the rest of the way, ignoring the tank that the chief left behind. I hear more fighting ahead of me, and I stop, hiding as my heart feels like bursting. I keep trying to catch my breath, while the fighting above gets more, and more violent. I don't know how many are fighting up there, but I need to calm down. I open my pouch, and eat a nutrient bar, while drinking from my canteen. I didn't have much left, and now I'm completely out, I look around for clean snow that wasn't disturbed. I notice the snow on the tree, and make my way over. I fill up my canteen with the snow, but I'm afraid of what bacteria is there, I'll have heat it, and filter later, I place it in my pouch, and go back to the cave.
