Two days later, Vir finally arrived at a spot where his village used to be.
He knelt in front of a sand-covered mound. Only head-sized stones and dead branches stuck there were the markers for him. The mound was where Vir had buried the bones of his villagers - years after the massacre.
At that time, Vir no longer knew which one was his mother's skeleton among the many human bones scattered at the site. So, he collected all the bones he could find and buried them in one hole. The hole that was now a mound in front of him.
Vir looked down in deep silence.
"Mom, Dad... and all of you, I have not been able to avenge your deaths. My only hope, an Asurry survivor, is now in the hands of those damn al-Banix."
From the mass grave, Vir then headed to a place far to the southeast.
