Vir, Carl, and a friend of theirs joined the crowd. In every corner of the town, people gathered in large numbers. The closer it got to noon, the more crowded they became.
The large square behind the palace gate was especially full. Vir and the other two used a thin cloth to partially cover their faces. This probably wouldn't arouse suspicion as there were many people dressed similarly in the crowd.
Although the crowd looked dense and intense, however, they could not get past the soldiers who formed a layered fence. At least, the soldiers outside the palace gates left an empty section for the vehicles of the guests invited to the Crown Prince's wedding.
One by one, the luxurious carriages of the nobles and royal families from the other three lands arrived, passing through the sea of people in the square.
