Although he had waited for a long time, even until he had eaten his lunch, and not a single rider had crossed the path, Vir still calmly and patiently waited for the appearance of one of the dragon riders.
"Goddamn, it!" Vir twitched his neck. "How long has it been since I've consumed dragon heart?"
He said so as if not eating the poisonous meat would make him weaker and weaker.
After waiting for long enough, Vir finally grinned subtly when he found two dots close to each other, appearing from the east.
Two riders were flying casually with their respective wyverns. One was a Bald Wyvern type and the other was a Silverwing type.
"Two people, huh?" Vir muttered, still using his telescope. "It doesn't matter. No matter how many of you there are, I will not be deterred. Both of you must die!"
Silverwing was slightly smaller than the Bald Wyvern. It was exactly the same between a horse and a donkey.
"Hey, I heard that the Emperor sent food supplies to all regions," the one riding Silverwing said loudly. "And slaves, too. And it's in large quantities."
"Yeah!" agreed the one sitting casually on Bald Wyvern's back. "I think that the aid will arrive in the Eastern Lands by noon tomorrow, at the earliest."
The rider on Silverwing's back chuckled as he rubbed his rough beard.
"Why are you even smiling like that?" asked the rider on Bald Wyvern's back. "What are you thinking about?"
"Have you ever seen the Emperor in person?"
The other rider shrugged. "It would be a great honor to see the Emperor in person."
"Exactly!"
He finally joined in the laughter. "Oh, no, man. Don't tell me you've already met the Emperor?"
"You won't believe it, my friend!"
"Are you fucking serious?"
The man on Silverwing's back nodded. "The one who rules this world, as it turns out, is an extremely beautiful girl. You will fall in love with her as soon as you see her."
The other man grinned faintly. "So, the rumors are true, huh?"
"Yeah!"
"Tell me, what is the Emperor's beauty like?"
"Oh, my friend..." The rider on Silverwing's back chuckled again while rubbing his chest. "Have you ever held a diamond?"
"Yeah, a few times."
"So, what do you think?"
"It's stunningly beautiful!"
"Well, let me tell you," said the one on Silverwing's back. "If beauty is compared to a diamond, then our Emperor's beauty is ten times more beautiful than a diamond."
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"I won't be ashamed to admit it, my friend," he replied again. "Ever since I saw the Emperor for the first time, I've always imagined her, every time I fuck a girl."
"You're a lucky bastard!"
Meanwhile, Vir had positioned his giant crossbow that used large arrows like a harpoon. Two arrows at once.
The crossbow aimed at half the height of the hills because Vir observed that the two riders at the east end were indeed flying low with their dragons.
He prepared something else. Checked the smaller crossbow he had borrowed from Daisy, made sure his black dagger was in its sheath on his right thigh, and then took out a thin black cloth from his waist.
With the thin black cloth, Vir covered part of his face, leaving only his eyes visible. He always did this kind of thing when hunting down riders in the daytime, in order to avoid one or two things that he did not want to happen.
And after that, he got ready behind his giant crossbow.
"Come to me, sweeties," Vir murmured as he watched the two riders with his simple telescope. "Oh, I already smell the delicious scent of grilled heart. Come on, sweeties... Come slowly!"
The two riders who were getting closer to the point where Vir was waiting for them did not realize the danger that was threatening them.
The two of them continued to fly leisurely while chatting.
"I heard some unpleasant news," said the man on Bald Wyvern's back.
"What do you mean?" asked the other one.
"Do you remember the young woman we raped a few days ago?"
The man on Silverwing's back frowned, then shrugged his shoulders.
"Come on, man," he said. "Quite a lot of fun this past week. I can't remember them one by one."
"She's the one whose husband tried to kill us," the man on Bald Wyvern's back said, again. "Then ended up being food for our dragons, man. You still don't remember?"
"Ah..." The man on Silverwing's back nodded. "On the western border?"
"Exactly!"
"Then, why are you so scared?"
"No, I'm just—"
The man on Silverwing's back chuckled. "Come on, my friend, don't get so worried! You and I are riders, and we're protected by the Central Empire. It's our privilege, man. No one will dare mess with us!"
"I know," agreed the man on Bald Wyvern's back. "It's just that, I heard that young lady went half insane."
"Even if she goes completely insane, I don't care at all."
The Silverwing ridden by the man growled as if disturbed by something, as did the Bald Wyvern.
However, the two riders who did not know the cause of their dragon mounts' agitation only stroked their dragons' necks to calm them down.
They were getting closer and closer to the point where Vir was waiting with his weapon.
The two dragons agitated due to the black dagger tied to Vir's right thigh.
As Aira had once investigated, the black dagger was made from the solid bones of the Black Dracael, a legendary dragon that was even considered a mystical being by the people.
The aura emanating from the dagger caused the riders' two dragon mounts to become agitated.
Vir grinned, waiting for the right moment to release his crossbow shot with the two large harpoon arrows at once.
"Come here!" he muttered. "Come close to me, nicely!"
And then...
Slap!
Whoosh!
"We could just take that woman by force," said the man on Silverwing's back. "Then sell her at the slave market."
"But she's half-crazy, man!" said the other rider. "She's lost her soul. Don't you get it? We've gone too far, that's all I'm saying!"
"You don't have to love those lowlifes, my friend!" The man on Silverwing's back chuckled, again. "If that woman is already insane, that would be even better. We can use her as a lust object for our comrades—"
Swing!
Stamp! Stamp!
One giant arrow whizzed, then smacked Silverwing so hard from the right side of its body that it pierced through to the left side.
The silvery-winged wyvern let out a loud shriek as its heart was pierced by the massive arrow.
So did the man riding the wyvern. The second arrow hit his body, throwing him off his mount's back.
"Damn it!" Vir cursed to himself.
The position of the two riders side by side caused the one riding the Bald Wyvern not to be hit by the shot just now.
Vir quickly set up the next arrow to take down the remaining rider with his Bald Wyvern.
And at the same time, the Bald Wyvern who was shocked because the Silverwing let out a loud shriek before finally flying down, quickly maneuvered to the side of the hill.
Meanwhile, the rider tried to pay attention to the direction where the two large arrows had just appeared, although his face was deathly pale, and there were even blood stains on his face, the blood of his fallen friend.
Vir growled as it was a little difficult to keep up with the Bald Wyvern's flying movements that twisted and turned in such a way.
"Asshole!" he cursed again. "Stay still, damn it!"
Slap!
Swing!
