"Jesus fucking christ.." A young man in his late teens woke up on a big cushy bed. The room he currently occupied was decorated in hearts and neon signs, all of which were different shades of dark and light blues. "The hell did I get myself into?" He said rubbing his face while getting a grip on his surroundings.
It was hard for him to focus as he seemed to have a hangover from the night before. His breath smelled of alcohol and..chocolate? "How did I-" He said walking to the bathroom, the scenery made his headache worse. With every step it felt like he was getting smacked upside the head with a hammer.
The bathroom was covered in women's underwear. Bras hung from the shower bar, socks in the sink. Whatever happened last night must had been wild. Why couldn't he remember anything? "I'll ju-" He could hardly speak before a wave of nausea flooded his body, causing him to quickly lean over the toilet vomiting up a mixture of junk food and beer.
A few minutes later the teen looked in the mirror noticing his outfit. He wore a large black trench coat with matching pants and a gray turtleneck shirt. His silver eyes matched his hair which was quite shaggy due to bed hair. "I..don't remember putting this on. Well, I don't really remember much of anything."
He took time to brush his teeth and freshen up a little before leaving his room. Outside the door stood a small service bot. "Good evening Mr. Ego, did you enjoy your stay? Your guests left a few hours ago, they already paid for the room. Although they told me not to disturb you while you slept.."
The robot spoke while looking up at him. Ego looked around to see that just about every room had one of these little triangular framed bots outside their door. "Yeah I enjoyed my stay. I'll be leaving now, though, so you can go clean the room." Without a second look he walked downstairs slowly to avoid worsening his headache.
As he walked out the doors he shook his head at how many robots were around. "Why do people insist on using robots for EVERYTHING? All it takes is one really good hacker and we're fucked.. Although," he continued walking outside, the radiating blue lights of the city flashed his eyes causing him to stumble back.
"Where's a pair of shades when I need 'em?" He said walking down the street. Each building had its own flare to it. Be it shape, size, or even if it was floating or not. The fancier buildings tended to be the ones floating and required a hover platform to reach on foot. But, due to the way humanity has evolved, most people could get up on their own. Hover platforms were usually reserved for the elderly or those too lazy to use their abilities.
Down the street Ego glanced at some people having a stare off. One of the people was glowing with embers occasionally flying off her body. While the other, his body slowly grew until it was around the size of a tree, with muscles the size of two heads of a grown man.
"Look at you, a man trying to beat up a poor little girl like myself. You're such a brute, Jack!" The girl with fiery pink hair stared up at the boy, her gaze strong enough to pierce a star.
"Yeah well.. you took it too far this time Heaven. I get it, you can use magic and I'm stuck with this hulked up super power. But, that doesn't give you the right to continuously say I'm lower than you. Magic is good and all but our mutant genes are just as powerful you know! And what you did… my little girl..all because she was a 'sad excuse of a human'? She was a child! How could you do such a thing and not feel any kind of remorse?? What happened to you? You used to be so sweet back in grade school…" Jack's voice cracked between every word as his eyes watered. The amount of anger that coursed through his veins caused his skin to heat up seemingly causing his tears to evaporate as they fell.
The whole time he talked she stood there smiling and occasionally rolling her eyes. "Everyone knows that magic is superior, they're just too scared to say so." Heaven said while scanning the crowd that slowly formed around them.
By this point Ego too had joined the growing groups of people to get a better view. Out of the crowd came another person. They had cybernetic enhancements protruding from their body, so much so, they were nearly a robot themselves. "Now's not the time for this, guys. You have to act mature, we are not kids anymore!" The man looked at Jack and Heaven with caution.
"Can it Dan! You should be even more enraged than I, in this matter! After all the shit she has put you through, do you really think she deserves to be sitting on that high horse? You think she has the right to be an utter asshole all the damn time?!" Jack was growing more and more furious, his size continued to expand as well.
Mutants, Magic Humans, and Techno-Humans were a common sight among society nowadays. Ever since the dimensional breach all those years ago, all of humanity as a whole has been split into these three groups. The hierarchy goes Magic, Mutant, Techno, although the populace as a whole saw them as equal, there were some who obviously thought otherwise.
"Who would've thought these three would all be here at one time. This ought to be interesting." He said, staring in anticipation. Here in Bonnet City, Jack, Dan, and Heaven were the 'heads' of these groups. At this point Jack was tired of trying to convince his former friends. He couldn't hold back his anger anymore so the stalemate quickly escalated into an all out brawl! Jake swung at Dan who in turn activated the mini boosters in his back causing him to fly away to dodge the attack. His next target was Heaven, after bringing both arms above his head he slammed them down on her with no restraint.
Heaven had no time to dodge so she shouted while raising both of her hands above her head. Before his fists made contact, they were stopped by a half circle of fire that Heaven made from her flames. Although Jack's fists didn't physically connect, the force alone was more than enough to cause a 7 meter wide crater under the two.
Jack didn't stop there, immediately following his initial attack came another. He followed with a heavy stomp that made the ground beneath her crack, propelling sharp spikes of earth to her legs impaling them.
As he expected, she activated her full body spell. Heaven managed to cast another spell, making her body intangible as well. This meant that no matter how much she was hurt, it was like slapping fire. Although it takes a great amount of concentration to pull something like this off: the more her body was distorted by attacks, the harder it was to keep the spell active.
Dan looked at the two fighting and tried to join in to stop them. He flew back a few meters and put both hands together in front of his chest. Doing this action seemed to merge them together into some sort of funnel, "Guys, please..enough of this!" Knowing he had no other choice, Dan forced a power surge through his body focusing on the funnel that was once his hands.
From this, shot a stream of concentrated energy towards the two other combatants. Jack switched his focus to the incoming beam. He slammed his hands into the ground bringing up a five by three meter chunk of pavement to block the attack. He was pushed back a few feet, but now Jack was distracted by Dan, Heaven took the chance to counter!
After her previous spells dispersed, she used another one. "I'm sick of breathing the same air as you mutants!" A scythe made of fire formed in her hand and she swung it full force at Jack. He was too preoccupied to deal with the incoming attack from behind. The weapon pierced his heart then dissolved into his system. After the scythe was fully absorbed by Jack's body, he stopped moving. The chunk of earth fell from his hands and he collapsed to the floor.
Jack's lifeless body laid on the floor, his face painted with anger. Upon it's absorption, the scythe's fire spread throughout his body melting his organs and evaporating his blood. All that was left now was a skin bag filled with dry bones. "Good riddance." She looked at Dan and spat at his feet before turning to run.
Dan stood there looking at her and the corpse of an old friend. "I-i'm sorry Jack…" He turned to fly in the opposite direction of Heaven, full of regret that he couldn't stop the situation that just played out in front of his eyes.
Ego stood there amazed, yet disappointed. Amazed at how far humans have come from the days of Old Earth, but disappointed in the fact that humans are still fighting amongst themselves. "There's a bigger threat out there yet we continue to bicker and fight like animals… As long as we win the war, right?"
He left the area before police and paramedics could arrive. The crowd quickly dispersed as well, no one wanted to be around when the cops came through. The questioning itself would be equivalent to torture.
"But now that the heads are gone, there's a huge imbalance of power. Who will be the spokesman for mutants? If no one shows up soon, I'm afraid Heaven or Dan will try and take their territory. But, even if they weren't interested in gaining the extra power, the lower ranking mutants will be constantly butting heads. They needed another two star mutant to take the lead, and fast. Otherwise this city will be thrown into chaos.."
