Chapter 21 - Re-opening

I should have not agreed to anything and just told them no. I am exhausted and it's want to lay down. My question is how do they enjoy it so much. They made me teleport outside, on the roof, in every room on the third floor, every room on the second floor, and in the basement. Then when I thought I was done they asked me to do it again so I had to go to every place I just listed two more times.

Then for some reason they wanted to it all again, "I'm sorry, but I can't I can't go on, this is too much perhaps we can do this some other time, please?" After debating among themselves they said, "Ok, you worked good but you have to do it again later."

"of course." I said to them too tired to tell them that I will be never doing that again. By the time they said that it was dark which means it's their bedtime, finally. I then used teleport to put them all in their beds and before they could even speak I said good night and closed and locked the kids in the basement.

Totally not kidnapping children and keeping them confined just making sure they don't do something they aren't supposed to while I'm relaxing. It is probably too late to open up so I'll have to open tomorrow if I want to get any customers.

One bad thing about the tavern is because it is in a alleyway you would have to walk all the way through it just to check if the tavern was open. I just hope I didn't lose any loyal customers by being closed for these few days.

Finally I can go do whatever I want maybe to celebrate I should make a hot tube to get rid of some stress. It would be perfect if it wasn't for this fur. It stay wet for so long and a lot of random things get stuck in it. If I didn't have magic to dry and clean it quickly I would probably go insane.

It may be best if I just go to bed since I am pretty tired. "Meow" I heard which made me look at her. She was staring intently at something so I looked up to see what it was. After all there isn't many things that are worth staring at here.

There was a face at the window smushed up on it trying to look in for some reason. If they didn't look so dumb I definitely would have jumped out of my fur, instead they just startled me.

I opened the door and leaned out to meet them. They looked like a man in his forty's and looked like he had a beer belly and looked sad. He hadn't saw saw me yet because his entire face was on the window fogging it up. He then said "Hello! Can you open up?! Or at least let me in?!"

"Who are you? I said with not much interest but with the intent to stop him from ruining the window. When I said that he actually got so scared he jumped into the air and fell backwards like a cartoon character. Once he realized who I was instead of him getting up he asked what he must've thought to be a more important matter as he said "please open up, I beg of you!"

"Don't worry I am opening up tomorrow so come back then." I understood that he was desperate but I'm not going to open up for a single person. "No please open up right now! If you don't then I'll have to go to another bar and if that happens then I'll get fatter and my wife will kill me."

I don't know who he was but for something he could fix by simply going on a diet and using some self control he sounded desperate. Before I could tell him no a second time he continued talking. " Not only is your food and drink the best tasting in the entire city but the also are the healthiest as I feel better after eating here an I never get fat. My wife is finally interested in my again after losing weight so let me in, please!" I'll tell just tell him no…

(Kumo at the time wouldn't figure out later that what was about to happen. While talking to the man he had left the door open the entire time. To most people this would mean nothing but to regulars it's a different story. They used the special sensors to smell the beer that he had kept in barrels and cooked food in the back for aesthetics. Like a wave they were rushing over.)

As I again was about to tell him no I noticed a bunch of people coming from both sides of the alleyway. The looked like feral animals wanting to feed, some even had some drool coming out of their mouths.

Due to me leaning in the doorway with the door open they didn't see the closed sign was up and were trying to run in. Not trying to get trampled by the stampede I quickly opened the door all the way and let people inside. When they were all inside some talked with friends of played some games and others were calling me over to order their food immediately.

I then noticed that the man I was talking to was still there so I said to him with my head held low "come in."

I then got to taking orders and making food for all the people in the tavern. I had placed sound and vibration cancellation magic on the floor so they all shouldn't wake up the kids but I can't help but worry.

Despite the little effort that actually goes into making the food as always it tastes amazing as always. Which is basically why everyone comes here in the first place. If I was a customer I would wait just like them.

For a little while it was a normal night with normal people that complemented me over the great food and drinks or the pool table which is very popular. However then the group of people that always came in dark cloaks had arrived and as always, sat in the corner of the bar.

When they first started coming here I was scared as the would talk in a low voice and when I got close they would stop talking. I was going kick them out but I can't do that just because they seem suspicious. Only recently have they ordered food here.

Surprisingly they say thank you and one time I heard one talk to there other cloaked acquaintance about how good the food is. Now they are more of an oddity that a danger, at least for now. Besides having cloaks they seemed pretty normal.

They were fine, in fact they weren't the strangest part. Not even a minute after they walked in a man with a trenchcoat and fedora walked in and at across the bar from them. He then put a finger on his ear and was glancing at the cloaked group. He was spying on them!

The thing in his ear must be a magic listening item. While I could also listen in on their conversation like him it would be rude and besides as long as they don't bother me there is no need.

However he is quite a bad spy as it looks like he didn't even try to fit in with the crowd and made no attempt to hide that he was touching his ear a strangely long amount of time. It makes him look more suspicious than the cloaked group.

Should I just do nothing or try to intervene on the situation? Maybe I should tell them what is happening after all they are technically regulars and besides they may even tip me. If I want to help them I can't just tell them because if I did the detective looking guy would hear me and possibly think I'm one of them and question me.

With that in mind I hatched up a plan, to start with I took the cloaked group's order and then when in the back. I then made a price of paper and wrote "Your being spied on by the guy In the trench coat." And put it under the food.

Then I brought it to them and quickly walked away.

I then took some more orders while keeping a eye on the them. I saw one move the food and noticed that I couldn't see the note anymore. They must've read it secretly as almost immediately after they quickly got up and left and soon after the man also left too.

I was barely even apart of what that was but my heart is beating so fast. I just hope I don't regret it. I the went to their table to take away all the food they left and I noticed a quite generous tip.

I guess they appreciated my help.
