Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 0 - PROLOGUE

Third-person viewpoint

A layer of hope that held the survival of the continent was destined to crumble as it had never existed as the Mountain of Corpses piled up around it like the realm of a Death god. Loud screams and cries could be heard everywhere. Everyone sobbed, whether they were young or elderly, women or men.

They were in despair since there was no longer someone to guard them against anger in their own country or on their entire continent. Some of the powerful forces had even died or disappeared completely. In contrast, a guy rather than a young adult of 17 to 18 years old with gold hair and eyes that blazed like a blaze were now dark as the setting shrieked like a kid, audible to everyone who felt the misery of sorrow.

Arthur Leywin POV:

I was holding my mother's lifeless body as tears were pouring out like a dam that was about to burst. My mother never deserved to pass away in this manner. She was due a kid who should have been happy and enjoying childhood, but instead she received a resurrected cold, ruthless ruler who was incapable of even protecting her.

Heaps of the dead all around me made me feel like the devil of this earth. I had lost everyone to the tyrant and a hypocritical asuran leader who intended to destroy Dictathen, including my friends, family, comrades, and my one love. As the youngest among my colleagues, I battled alongside them against these deities as a Lance/General. At first, they thought I was naive, but over time, they grew to appreciate me. After fighting hundreds of magicians, Bairon, Varay, Aya, and Mica were the pinnacles of strength. Nevertheless, when facing the deities, they lacked the strength to repel them.

Now that every lance has vanished, it doesn't even matter if they were living or dead. Mica was murdered by Kiros during the combat, and Aya's chest was pierced by a spear just as she was breathing her last. Bairon shielded my sister and mother and kept the attackers at bay for a very long period before dying out of exhaustion while doing so. Together with grandpa Virion, Varay also passed away after trying to aid Aya in the conflict.

I wanted to die because the air was so oppressive, but I couldn't leave this world while these mindless tyrants were seeking to govern the entire planet for their own gain. As I laid my mother's body down and channeled aether in the Godrune that represented the alleged to-be fate, I remarked, "Agrona, you held a lot of time against me, I guess it's time to finish this," while attempting to hold back my tears.

Agrona snarled loudly, blood streaming from his body, "You talk big for a lesser Grey, You couldn't even save your mother do you think you can kill me...don't make me laugh." Regis said, anxious and afraid for the first time in his life, "He won't hold for much longer but the case is the same with you too Arthur we need to do something with the godrune faster, your body can't hold it much better right now."

With everything in place, I triggered the godrune, and the entire world transformed into a dazzling light that contained a single thread of life. It appeared as though I was managing the godrune itself rather than the aether when I activated it.

Once it took off, it expanded to span the entire area and began sucking the very air that was pulling the continent towards it. Agrona attempted to utilize his decay magic to relieve the strain but it failed and drew him into the portal that resembled a rift. "What in the world is that? Do you know for sure that's a godrune? "Due to a lack of aether, Regis said in a frail voice while assuming the appearance of a solitary willow.

The area behind the godrune changed, and the rift-like portal grew in size until it was large enough to engulf the entire populace. It then began sucking up all of the mana in the air and releasing heavy pressure, making it difficult for me to stand and breathe as I was drawn into the portal. I attempted to force my way out but in vain.

Nothing but blackness surrounded me as I entered the rift-like gateway; it seemed as though I was its source, and I blacked out, as though my body was completely worn out.

I heard several voices as I regained consciousness, but they were too delicate for me to understand. Instead, as sounds pounded in my ears, everything around me faded into a brilliant red blur. When I attempted to speak, all that appeared to come out was a cry. It continued, "Congratulations Mister and Madam, he's a healthy boy," as the muddled sounds grew louder.

.....wait.....

Did I just experience a rebirth or did some sort of magic just happen? I turned around and saw my father, Reynolds Leywin, standing and leaning toward me. He had a highly charismatic appearance, a cleanly square jawline, ashy brown-colored hair, and deep blue eyes. He was sitting next to a woman who I immediately identified as my mother, Alice Leywin, with her distinctive auburn hair and comforting maternal aura.

The question was, however, whether I simply underwent reincarnation or time travel.
