"This is going to be way harder than you thought it was going to be"
a voice spoke out pausing in between before continuing
"The only thing that really bothers me is what if you are caught, what will happen when they finally catch you. Do you know you could be tortured? Or killed?"
"with all we've been through, trust me. I can take care of myself. Besides, you're my friend. and i know you will look out for me."
she smiled reassuringly at him while she stood up with her head bowed
"Please take care of sister...don't worry about me" she said softly before leaving the room.
she was scared, of course. scared that she might end up like her parent who's death haunted her every moment.
scared that she won't be able to make it out of that palace and most importantly worried that if something goes wrong,
she would never be able to revenge her parent. but mostly she was just scared. scared for everything and everyone around her.
She didn't want anything bad to ever happen to them and she couldn't let this ruin their lives like it had hers.she just wanted them all to have happy futures.
she knew she had to be strong for them, because as much as the the rumors says the emperor seemed like a monster.
she did not want anyone else to get hurt. she didn't care how many rules she is going to broke, no one else got dragged down with her. she had made her decision
Walking out of the house she made her into the royal carriage that was prepared for their journey inside were some servants carrying food and supplies to help ease them on the journey.
they looked so fragile and weak just like her. they didn't deserve to suffer because of someone like her.
So she sat down obediently has the carriage start moving away from her house. She didn't even turn around it was better not to see the tears starting to fall from his eyes.
she knew he took her as a sister and he would follow after her eventually.but until then.
She close her eyes to take a short nap because she knows the journey was going to be long.....
when she woke back up they already arrived at the imperial city and there were guards stationed outside the palace gates ready to welcome them and there were already some ladies like her waiting to be escorted
"welcome to the palace of Xian"
one of the guards told her and bowed respectfully.
"Thank you"
she replied politely returning his bow. 'it's better to be polite than dead' she told herself trying hard to hold back the tears which started to come out of her eyes.
"you are welcome"
the guard added looking back up at her, confused by her reaction.'she must be having a nervous breakdown..or maybe...a panic attack? she does look kind of pale…wait no that can't.....
she did not want to cry, no matter what not here in front of all these people.
'i'll be fine' she told herself 'just stay calm and stay out of trouble. That is all'
she tried to convince herself as she took her place beside one of the guards and followed him into the palace as they escourt them to their temporary rooms for the night.
...
she didn't even realize she fell asleep till she woke up to the sound of her name being called softly."Good Morning Miss Hu" the voice of the person was becoming more clear, her voice fill with panic.
Calling her attention to the person beside her
"oh uh...morning"
Hu Yixuan greeted quietly sitting up and rubbing sleep off from her eyes.
"How are you feeling?"
the person asked again with concern written on her face,
"Did you get any rest last night? I heard you were having nightmares about your parents...and what happened to them"
she paused,
"if there's anything I can do..."
her voice trailed off, clearly uncertain about how to proceed.
who is she? where is she from? why am i seeing her like this?'
"Oh um...thanks"
Yixuan said still a bit surprised by the other person's kindness.
The girl seemed to relax a little when Yixuan answered with a small smile on her face
The girl nodded smiling sweetly
"My name is Yue Li"
she introduced herself holding out her hand for a handshake.
"I'm a servant from the palace...i have been assign to you ....so I'll be helping out as much as possible. You should eat something now since breakfast has alredy been served so we can go greet the Queen dowager soon"
Yixuan agreed with her and ate the bread and chicken she had been given for breakfast inviting yue li to join her...while discussing how the palace is to her, who she could offend and who she could relate to..taking into consideration of how Yue li describe the palace...There are rarely anyone she could relate to *'i need to get stronger,'* she decided.
.....
"Grandmother I told you to wait till I find true love before making decisions about my future life"
a voice rang out couple with the sound of a hurried footstep entering into the room
While an eunch was hurriedly trying to catch up with him..
"Your Highness, please slow down"
The Queen dowager sighed exasperated and continued writing away in her diary
"You should respect your grandmother, young man"
"Grandmother you have been supporting my finding true lovd..why this change of heart i haven been trying to change mother mind for the past few months, but she seems like she wants to keep me in a loveless marriage." The boy argued
"Your mother is right"
the Queen dowager stated calmly turning to look at her grandson and emperor of Xian palace
"I'm afraid you don't have such luxury anymore...your father died three months ago after suffering a heart attack due to overworking..and now you are also overworking, this situation may not be exactly romantic, but it is better that you have an empress to accompany you"
the old woman pleaded..
Seeing the old woman pleading with him and how conflicted she looked he couldn't ....
