Chapter 17 - Bad News

It was exactly 05:00 PM when Rikuo along with Officer Asahi arrived back at the cafe for the meeting. It seemed like they were the first ones there as none of the other three could be seen from the outside.

They entered the shop, the blond boy very carefully checking their surroundings for Irina. He still remembered the way she attacked Shuuji for coming later than her during their first meeting and did not want to take his chances.

Fortunately for the blond's sanity, Irina was not there. Miwatoshi shook his head at the boy fondly. He got them a table near the door along with snacks in case anyone got hungry.

The brunette man then waited alongside the boy for their partners and commander to arrive.

Irina came skipping through the door not long after they took their seat. She looked suspiciously happy and even for someone like Rikuo who only knew the woman for a week, it sent warning bells off inside his head.

He watched the brunette woman warily as she placed her orders before coming up to them. And was that a paint on her finger tips? The blond hummed suspicion growing by the second. However, he did not forget to greet the colonel in case the woman decided to attack him for not greeting her properly.

"Good evening, teacher."

"Yahoo! Officer Asahi, Riku brat! Did everything go well?" She asked grinning, her eyes closed.

"Except for a minor mishap with onryo, our part was completed without further problems." Officer Asahi replied.

"Report."

"Right, we questioned the witnesses but we did not get any more useful info than in the files. As we were questioning the last of the witnesses, a giant mantis monster attacked a child at the playground. The child was protected by cadet Tsujimura until additional help from the child's mother appeared."

The brunette officer easily reported. Irina's brows furrowed together.

"The mother?"

"Yes, the child's name was Suzuharu Kazuha and the mother was a champion by the name of Suzuharu Keiko, along with her familiar? Lucky the wolf I believe."

Spark of recognition lit in the icy blue eyes at the name. Irina leaned forward, a cat-like smile curling up on her lips.

"Keiko? My, looks like she is living well."

Rikuo blinked at the fond tone of his teacher's voice. He could tell Officer Asahi was curious too.

"Teacher, do you know her?" He asked curiously. Irina stared at him with a bit of an offended look before she seemed to remember the blond was new to their world along with even more confused Officer Asahi.

"I know her. She is one of the few-" the smug words were interrupted by the ringing of her phone.

Irina took out her phone, pressing it to her ears in an irritated manner. However it soon morphed into a serious look. Rikuo listened to one side of the conversation.

"Yes, I am in Shinjuku right now."

"..."

"A Meido territory appeared? Where?"

"..."

"Skyscraper district? Okay, I'll call Shuuji back."

"..."

Irina's face darkened and her eyes flashed with something Rikuo could not quite identify but the feeling in his gut told him it wasn't something good.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHUUJI IS TRAPPED IN THERE WITH A CIVILIAN!? ANS-" the brunette woman took a few deep breaths to calm herself after shooting a glance towards her student.

"Please prepare a team for me, I'll meet them there."

"Tsujimura Rikuo, Miwatoshi Asahi, go home for the day." She ordered.

With that she left the cafe, leaving behind pale, shaking Rikuo and incredibly worried Miwatoshi, both of whom came into a rather grim realization.

Shuuji was trapped inside whatever this meido territory was, it was probably dangerous from how worried Irina had been. And if what they heard was right, then, Office Kunichi was trapped there alongside the ravenette.

The blond boy staggered out of his chair, moving towards the door, frantic. Miwatoshi followed him, grabbing onto the teen's shoulder to stop him.

"Let me go!!"

"Where are you going?"

"To follow teacher!!! Shuuji is in danger!"

"And do what!? She ordered us to go home, kid. Besides meido, whatever place is most likely dangerous, you can't go!!"

The elder of the two insisted, pulling the blonde back. Rikuo felt irritation flare up inside him, whipping around as he hissed at the police officer.

"I'm going!! Shuuji is in danger and I'm going! You can't stop me!!!"

The teen stormed out of the cafe. Miwatoshi groaned slightly then followed after the teen running towards the skyscraper district. He was worried about Kunichi and knew Rikuo could fight, also he had tried to stop the kid. So the brunette officer might as well as join in on breaking the Colonel's order.

"Rikuo stop!!! Let me get a car! We'll drive." He shouted.

Within the next five minutes, the officer and blond teen were out flying through the road for the skyscrapers, hoping beyond hope that they made it in time.

….

Generally, Irina Rostavich hated teleportation devices with passion but desperate times called for desperate measures and she had to use one to get to their location. Brunette woman stepped out of the swirling blue gate and into the street secured by the Midnight Tokyo administrative workers.

In front of the tall gray skyscraper, waiting for her was a three men team, consisting of two exorcists and one priest. Beside them stood Ritsuka, holding out a communication device for Irina.

"Fill me in."

"The Meido Domain activated as of 17 minutes ago. It seems to have been hiding here in dormant state for more than three weeks. The first to discover it was Cadet Harukami Shuuji alongside a civilian Officer Kunichi Meizo."

"Do you have contact with them?"

"No, all forms of contact have been lost as of 15 minutes ago." Ritsuka reported, red eyes clouded with guilt.

"Rostavich, go and retrieve your student." She told the brunette woman earnestly. Irina nodded before she turned towards her team.

"Alright team, our goal is to save Cadet Harukami and Officer Kunichi then to shut down the territory before it could invade. Are you ready?"

"Ready, Captain!!"

The three men saluted. Irina pulled on her equipment gloves before a great black lion materialized from the shadows under her. It curled around the brunette woman in a show of power.

"GO!"

Team shot off into the Meido territory with a clear objective in mind, unaware of a certain pair of troublemakers sneaking into the domain from the other side. Yet, they still had the same goal.

'Hang in there, we are coming.'
