Nightfall had come and the curtains were gradually being drawn over the first day of the second phase.
Crickets chirped and animals moved in the bushes. It was windy and as such Nyne did not feel any heat compared to what it was during the day when the sun blazed down on the earth, and he was thankful for the change in atmosphere.
The leaves and branches swayed at the wind's command and the sparks from the clashing of the two small hard stones in Nyne's hands floated about while he tried to generate a fire.
"Oww!" he let out when the sparks dabbed on his forearm.
Nyne struck the edges of the two stones together many more times until the wooden sticks he gathered were set on fire, giving him a light for the night.
The fire was small but will not go unnoticed and Nyne knew that the sight of the flame would rat him out. Even with all these considered, Nyne needed the fire and he needed it for two things that were even more important to him.
