No one knows the true origin of magical beasts, not even the learned, well-read ravs and tabellions of the Citadel. The origin of the magic beasts remains a mystery even to them who hold all the knowledge of this world.

Since Heaven's War, different species of magical beasts have been discovered and are still being discovered. No one can place an exact number on them. Supernatural creatures that are the pure and rawest embodiments of magical energy, and likewise feed off on magical energy.
