Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Max woke up early, he always had to get up by 5am whether he felt like or not. He had to go out for a run so whether he doused himself in booze or not, or whether he slept late or not, his body found a way to get up by 5am for his morning runs. As he got off the bed, he noticed the person next to him, and then he tried to gather his thoughts. He remembered last night adventure but things were still blurry. He didn't want to stress himself, he knew that when his mind was fully awake after the run, he'd remember more about the woman on his bed.

Fuck! I don't think I used protection! Why? Ugh! this shit must have made me fucked up and too damn lazy to stay strapped up! he thought.

He had made sure every intercourse he had, he was fully wrapped up because he did not want a child. He had made up his mind from a young age not to continue his father's lineage. He had made it clear to his father—that is one of the reasons that his relationship with his father was soiled, they were opposites.

He looked over at the sleeping figure and thought of waking her up so that he'd talk to her about getting a birth control pills or something. He assumed that she would be smart enough to want to protect herself from a one-night stand. He assumed she might still be there when he'd return but he didn't want to take chances so he wrote a note; "Get rid of it" and left five hundred dollars notes in her purse. She had been wearing one and it was on the floor. He picked up their clothes, and neatly kept her clothes close to his bed.

Then he went to dress up to go for his run. The house was a mess and some of the people who came for the party were laid up where they dropped last night. Max was careful not to step on anyone or wake anyone up. Once outside, he plugged in his airpod and started listening to music as he started his run.

He ran till 7:15am.

When he got home, some of the people in the living room were up and were getting ready to leave. He assumed that the stranger in his bed was up too so he went into his room and was shocked to see her still snoring softly on his bed. He thought of waking her up again and was almost about to do it till his alarm clock rang and he had to shower. He just opened his blinds and let the sunlight in and then when to shower.

...

Beverly was still sleeping when she felt the ray of sunlight on her face. With her eyes still shut, she tried to pull the covers to cover her face but it was not soft as usual, and it definitely did not have the usual summer scent that her sheets always have.

Did Payton change the laundry detergent? No, she had been using this brand and exact type because it was softer on the fabrics. She was even upset when I bought another kind, she is strict on what she likes and this sheet doesn't smell like mine, Beverly thought.

She ran her hands over the sheets but it felt more like silk than her usual cotton.

Wait, when did we start using silk sheets? I don't own any silk sheets, neither does Payton! What the fuck is going on? And is that, the sound of water I hear? Is someone in my room? She thought. With that, she opened her eyes and the color of the wall did not look the same. As consciousness hit her, she realized that she was not in her room. She quickly jumped out of the bed and started wearing her clothes.

"Fuck! what the hell did I do?!" She cussed as she hurriedly dressed up before whoever was in the bathroom comes out and sees her. It was bad enough that she did not remember what had happened but she could not let him see her in his room.

She checked for her purse and tried to call Payton. Payton's phone was off so she knew she had to go out and look for her. She was about to go out when she got a call from the moving company.

"Hi...Yeah, this is she...Of course, I will be right there soon. Can you give me some thing, I'll be there soon..." Then she walked out of Max's room.

Max had come out of the shower immediately she let his room, he heard his door close.

As Beverly looked all over the place for Payton, she finally saw her in the living room sleeping on one of the sofas with the other guys. She tapped her gently so that she'd not wake any other person up but then she heard, "How'd you like that stuff, moonpie?"

She turned to see who was talking and then she saw the stranger from last night. He was still good looking as he was last night but she wondered where he went when he left her.

She shook her head and said, "I don't think I want to ever take that shit again."

"The first time is always crazy but you'll get better with time."

"Uh, thank you but—"

"She's fine, Desmond! Take your drug selling ass outta here!" Payton snapped.

Desmond laughed and said, "Don't act like you didn't like it last night."

"The only thing that I liked was—" Payton replied

"Me clapping your cheeks from behind right? You're a lil baddie, Payton." Desmond interrupted Payton.

Beverly was shocked.

So the guy I was waiting for was apparently enjoying my best friend's cheeks last night, interesting, She thought.

"Too bad your friend doesn't know how to have fun" He pointed at Beverly.

"Shut up, Desmond!" Payton replied.

"I like you better when when you were screaming my name last night, Payton." Desmond teased.

Beverly rubbed her temple tiredly and said, "Pay, the movers are waiting on us, let's get out of here."

"Movers? are you moving away, moonpie? We still have unfinished business."

Payton threw a small ball she found on the floor on him, while Beverly held out her middle finger at him till she and Payton left the apartment.
