Chapter 46 - Prepare our Troops!

Before the sun could rise from the horizon, a succubus with purple wings emerged above the Valinan Mountain. In her right hand, a broken sword soaked in blood could be seen, scratches and wounds all over her body suggesting she had been in a ferocious battle. Surprisingly, her left hand was holding another sword, so long and clean, making one wonder why she had not used it.

After landing on that favorite site of hers, Morrin sat down facing the Crimson Castle. She stared at the Bombarded houses with sadness, anger and humiliation. Wasn't it humiliating to return to your master to tell the stories of your failure?

The day before, the day Brunos followed Lania, Morrin was returning where she had left the three succubi girls from the battle with Old Generation. That's when Bellyn came with the Queen's message.

"The Queen demands your presence imeddiately," said Bellyn.

'I also want to talk to her," Morrin had said to herself as she followed Bellyn.

Without hiding anything, she told the Queen about Fellene's ill intentions and suggested they should act as quick as possible. Who would have thought she would end up in bloody battle instead?

She was following Fellene's every move as the Queen had ordered. When he entered his mother's cave, Morrin hid nearby, waiting for him to come out again which he did after an hour and some few minutes.

His handsome face was glistening with enthusiasm, the scowl and anger from when she killed Amellia gone. It was as if he had received goof news. In fact, he was walking so fast as if in hurry.

'Lania might have caught Brunos!'

That was the first thought to appear into Morrin's mind when he saw how happy and energetic Fellene looked. What else would make Fellene walk beaming and grinning like a fool? Maybe if the Queen accepted his proposal he would. But now... now that the Queen hadn't done so, it had to be Brunos.

'I must follow him, confirm it and go report to the Queen.'

Unfortunately, when she started following him, Pagern and Zeal appeared behind her and launched a deadly attack on her.

One of the Qualities of a Wing Commander is to have eyes on your back. Not usual eyes, but caution and high concentration that allows you to detect threats approaching you.

It is for that sharp sense of hers that she was able to dodge their devastating blows before it was too late.

At her unexpected dodge, Pagern's ruby sword that was mare inches from her neck cut through nothing, causing Pagern to almost crash on the ground.

He glanced at her over his shoulder saying, "Not bad!"

Zeal decided to join the conversation.

"But also not good. You should have accepted this favour and died a peaceful death."

Before Morrin could answer, Fellene was already turning back, his lips curled up to give birth to a mischievous smile.

"I knew you would follow me."

He paused and took a few steps toward her.

"But I didn't know you would refuse my gift. You should have not dodged Pagern's sword because now, your death is going to be more painful."

Though his words contained bitter truth, truth that fighting three incubi with her sword still broken, she allowed no fear to show on her face. Instead, she offered him a disgusted smile.

"We will see!" she said in a determined tone.

She was already raising her broken sword that she had brought with her so it could recover fast. Actually, her sword had an enchantment that allowed it to renew as long as it was close to her. That's why she had brought it with her and refused any other mundane sword. It's not like expected to be attacked by a horde of incubi anyway. All she expected was to follow him and report her findings to the Queen. Fighting was not in her plans.

Fellene gave her a mocking smile and shook his head.

"It would have been good to kill you myself. Sadly, I don't have time for that. Brunos is waiting for me so I have to hurry. I hope my brothers will avenge my girls you have killed earlier."

With that, he pushed himself off the ground yelling, "Kill her slowly! I want her to feel pain. It's not me who told her to reject my mercy."

Seeing Fellene gone, Morrin's heart danced in relief. It's not that Pagern and Zeal were not strong opponents. They were indeed the commanders of their kingdoms. However, in battle, two is better than three even if the third one can be a cripple. He can after all distract you and gave your opponents an advantage.

She stared at her opponent with a look of determination, knowing better that her failure meant her death and Brunos's... probably. There was a reason why she was not sure about Brunos's death. He seemed weak but had tricks under his sleeves, not to mention his cunning and bravery.

"What are you waiting for? Attack!"

Following her demand, the two brothers, two kings to be exact, launched a series of attacks toward her.

Who knew she would escape their bloodlust and end up stumbling on Brunos's sword?

Still staring at the Crimson Castle, she rose on her feet and glanced at the lustrous sword Lilyon had given Brunos.

'I hope you're still alive.'

With a sigh, she pushed herself off the ground and swam the skies once again.

"We fought and fought, flew above the Forest Valley and up the Obsidian Mountain," Morrin was already finishing the tale of her expedition. "Considering that Fellene had spent an entire day with Brunos, I'm not sure if he's still alive."

At her words, the Queen's eyes remained as cold as before, but Morrin could see all kinds of emotions that coldness was hiding.

"What do you mean he might have died already?"

Struggling to remain composed under the Queen's intense gaze, Morrin answered, "It's not a good thing to be sure. We should always assume worse."

She, herself, didn't feel like Brunos was dead. However, assuming that he was in danger would be a reason for them to act accordingly.

The Queen stared at her in silence for a long time.

"Didn't you say you have three Old Generations as your hostages?"

Morrin nodded her head.

"Prepare our troops! After noon, we attack!"
