Chapter 1 - 1. Prolog

Night in the middle of the Rimbo Panjang traditional forest, Kampar Regency, Riau.  An emergency hut that is not yet ready for construction, only the frame and roof are installed while the walls are plastic sheeting.  From a hut in the middle of the forest with lights using an electric generator, music can be heard breaking the silence and darkness of the night.

The five people in the hut were engrossed in drinking alcohol and would sometimes dance like crazy.  They had just reached the forest in the morning.  Bring wood to build a hut, zinc, a generator, and other equipment.  They are illegal loggers because it is clear from the status of the forest which is customary forest.

Three of the five illegal loggers carried a commando knife stuck in the waist and one other person had a short-barreled firearm tucked into the back of his pants.  Only one person who does not arm himself because he is in debt is willing to do anything as long as he doesn't kill or rob.

When the five people were engrossed in dancing, without them knowing two camps were lurking in ambush.  The first was the slow but steady arrival of the police, advancing in two teams carrying long guns and residents providing information about the arrival of illegal loggers as guides.

As soon as the police, who were divided into two teams were about to make an ambush, one of the young policemen with long guns walked past with his seniors, seeing two small flashes of light in the dark forest.

The young policeman who was in the middle of his team was silent for a few seconds but soon realized that he was slapped on the back by the senior police officer to move forward.  That's the second stronghold that stalks illegal loggers.

From two different sides, the front and back of the police hut were communicating with each other and waiting for the signal to make an ambush.  As soon as they saw a signal as a sign for an ambush to be carried out, the police immediately pointed their guns.

"HAND UP EVERYONE!! YOU ARE ALREADY SEIZED!!!"  shouted one of the policemen pointing a gun at the five men inside the makeshift hut. But the illegal loggers who knew the risks and armed themselves made a reflex to escape by rolling on the dirt floor and escaping from between the tarpaulin walls. Only one person does not fight and surrenders.

Warning shots no longer worked on armed illegal loggers, the police immediately aimed the barrel at the calves of illegal loggers who were trying to run.

TRACK!!!  The sound of a police long-barreled gun clashing with one of the illegal loggers who used a machete when ambushed as soon as he got out of the makeshift hut.  Because the policeman was too close he didn't shoot, he used the body of the gun to protect himself and then hit the head of the illegal logger who attacked him with the butt of his gun.  As soon as the illegal logger fell, the policeman pointed his gun and threw his handcuffs at the resident who was the guide to handcuffing the illegal logger.  "Do not move!"

Residents who became guides immediately helped arrest the illegal loggers using handcuffs that the police threw at them.

Meanwhile, the illegal logger carrying a gun was immediately the first target of the police shooting on his leg, as he was seen pulling his gun from behind his back.  The logger fell to the ground and howled in pain.

BANG!!  BANG!!  Another gunshot was directed at the two illegal loggers who had run quite a distance.  The two illegal loggers fell with gunshot wounds to their legs, but one of them still tried to escape because the makeshift hut was quite far away, but his movement was stopped when he saw a pair of yellow lights flash in the forest in front of him.

Three illegal loggers trying to escape had been gathered near the hut.  They groaned in pain, fresh blood from the gunshot wound to the leg still flowing.  One of the loggers whose head was injured and also bleeding profusely looked at his new comrade who was kneeling with his hands cuffed behind his back completely unharmed from turning himself in.

The police car carrying the police and residents as guides that had previously been stopped not far from the illegal loggers' lodge immediately took the injured illegal loggers.  Because the car was small, two policemen, two residents as guides, and an uninjured illegal logger had to be left behind and would be picked up soon.

While waiting for the call, the police, who lived with two residents and a logger who gave himself up, set fire to a makeshift hut so that other illegal loggers would not take advantage of it.  While waiting for the fire to be extinguished and for the pickup truck to arrive, the young policeman who stayed back saw a flash of a pair of yellow lights moving between the trees in the dark forest.

The young policeman nudged the arm of his senior who was sitting facing the burning hut like a bonfire party.  "Is this forest a tiger crossing path?"  he whispered.

"What crossing?  Speak clearly!"  said the senior policeman without paying attention to the young policeman.

"Tiger!"

The senior policeman turned quickly to his junior police officer.  "Don't joke around recklessly saying his name at night in the woods!"

The illegal logger who was sitting pensively suddenly looked at the dark forest opposite the charred hut.  He quickly shook the senior police officer's shoulder.  "Sir, sir…"

"What's the matter?  Do you want to leave here?"  annoyed the senior policeman as he turned to the illegal logger.

"Sir, it looks like someone came because of the smell of blood from the gunshot wound of my friend who tried to escape earlier!"  whispered the illegal logger.

The young policeman understood what the man meant.  "That's right, Andi!"

"Mr. Andi, we better get out of here right away!"  said one of the residents who was the guide while standing but his eyes were looking far ahead.

The senior policeman called Andi looked in the direction his guide was paying attention to.  He also saw flashes of a pair of yellow lights.  Paying close attention, after realizing that there was something else, not just 'Datuk' the locals call for tigers, Andi immediately brought his team back.  Especially when Andi heard the tiger roar.

In the night amid a spooky forest, with drizzle and thick fog adding to the horror of two members of the Police, two residents who had just made a joint ambush against illegal loggers in the Rimbo Panjang customary forest.

The two police officers, two residents, and one detainee were forced to make their way back to the nearest police post on foot because while waiting for the car to be picked up, they heard the roar of a tiger and a pair of flashes of color in their eyes.  They tried as much as possible not to scatter even though they were afraid, their breath caught because they kept running with fear.

At first, they thought the tiger's arrival was due to the smell of the blood of a wild logger whose leg was injured after being shot by the Police during an ambush and trying to fight back, but the ambush area had already been left far before to prevent anything untoward, but it happened anyway.  And the rain that fell should have lessened the smell of blood splattered on the forest ground.  Everyone had also been trying to remember if they had done something illegal by mistake because their escape seemed to be just in circles.

The rain that falls is getting heavier, the fog that falls is also getting thicker, and fatigue peaks when surrendering to what is happening is left to God.  And a miracle amid that despair happened, the tiger that was following them might retreat for a while in the heavy rain because the glint of that pair of eyes had disappeared.  Two police officers, two residents, and one prisoner were still together, they sat under the biggest tree waiting for the rain to stop.

When the rain stopped and the sky began to clear, the bright moonlight after the rain showed what was around it, although there was still a bit of fog.  An ancient tomb is seen in front of two Police, two residents, and one prisoner.  The tomb is long and large, it is clear that the person buried in the tomb was a high-ranking person in the ancient Malay kingdom and the tiger must have been the magical warrior guarding the ancient tomb.  And then the five people realized why they were being followed by tigers as if they were incessant, before they made an ambush for the illegal loggers, they must have entered a forbidden area so that the 'guard' of the ancient tomb became annoyed.

They are trapped and are unlikely to return.
