There were two cities by the name of Vanli in the United Voras. One to the East and one to the West.
Before the war when Voras was still a country, the western Vanli used to be the capital city of the entire kingdom, known at the time as just Vanli. When the war began all over the world, and internal conflicts broke the country, the remnants of the royal family that claimed the throne to be theirs created their own capital in the east.
It was also called Vanli. Due to the confusion it brought by both capitals being called Vanli, the local people started referring to it as East and West Vanli. While the royals didn't like that, they couldn't stop the people from referring to it that way.
When the two halves of the country fought and the locals were unhappy having to fight their own people, they started a revolution that brought down he royals.
