Chapter 6 - Weird first date

"What does that mean?" Keira asked in confusion.

"Exactly what it means. We are in a world directly opposite to the one you know." Willow added,

"But that isn't possible."

Keira said with a tone of great disbelief.

"Did you ever wonder how a mirror came about?" Willow asked, sitting beside her.

"Yes but it could be science," Keira replied.

"It isn't science. The mirror is a gateway to the Polar world. It is the magnet between this world and the other causing the attraction." Naomi told her.

"Wait. Wait. When you say opposite you mean all that's there has its opposite form here?" Keira asked,

"Umm, it's a bit more complicated than that," Willow said,

"Let me put it this way, if anyone in the other world was good, over here they are their opposite self, meaning they are bad," Naomi told her.

"Then that means everyone there is here, so there are versions of us as well but in the opposite form and you two being the good Witches I know, if you have a doppelganger here then that isn't good," Keira stated,

"Umm that's not how it works actually," Willow said,

"We are from this world, it's how we are who we are. We are not a part of the human world, we just stay there, so no, we don't have a doppelganger, only humans do." She added,

"So I have one?" Keira asked,

"No. You may not be a Witch but you are one of us. Related by blood." Naomi said,

"Oh. I see. Does that mean I am never going back? I would see a different Sam here and can't be friends with her because she will be the evil version ?" Keira said,

"Sorry but yeah," Willow replied.

Keira got up and walked towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Naomi asked, worriedly and springing up on her feet.

"I need some air." Keira voiced.

–––

It was a cold night, and stepping into the open, she took deep breaths as the cool breeze settled on her skin.

Once her eyes opened, they fell on the moon, she quickly withdrew them and turned to walk away, folding her arms.

It all looked the same. Just as it was in the world she knew. The cars on the road, the people on the street and the liveliness were at their peak irrespective of the hour.

She had the urge to cross over to the club on the other side of the road. She had never been to one and now that it seemed her life was messed up, she didn't mind trying out all she was afraid to.

She struggled with herself, she had just told her aunts she only wanted to get some air, they hadn't brought her up to lie and so she found it hard to disregard their training.

"Keira, it's just a club, you cross over, get in there and make some friends. How hard could it be?" She convinced herself and then heaved a sigh.

She turned back to look at the apartment she had just come out of, it went up to the fifth floor.

"Ok–ay.."  She voiced and then turned back towards the road.

"Here we go.." She said and then crossed over.

"You can't go in without an ID," the bouncer said standing in his black suit with a firm look on his face. She knew he couldn't be fooled and so she dipped her hand in her jean pocket hoping it was still there.

"Oh, here it is." She gladly lifted it to him, praying deep in her heart that he hurried and let her in already to avoid being caught.

He handed it back to her having confirmed she wasn't a minor and she hurried in, heaving a sigh of relief.

It was crazy on the inside. The girls and guys, the lights kept switching and it caused a reddish-purple tint as it flashed.

The D.J. was wild, the fun feeling she got from it all made her smile while making her way through the crowd. She hoped to get to the other side where the bar was.

"Cocktail please." She said to the bartender while taking her seat on one of the stools.

"Coming right up." The female bartender said with a smile.

Tapping her fingertips on the bar desk she turned to take a look at the wild crowd.

"A penny for your thoughts?" She heard from behind her.

She hadn't noticed she was no longer alone at the bar. The voice prompted her to turn back and then she met with him.

He had blue eyes and black hair that cut across his forehead. He had cut his hair to neck level and he had a square chin.

"Hi." She voiced,

"Hi," He replied.

"Haven't seen you around here before" He said,

"You stay here?" She asked,

"Oh, no, I don't mean it that way. I just– come here often and everyone here lives not too far from this block." He said,

"I see," Keira responded, picking up her glass of cocktail which was already placed before her by the bartender. She began drinking from it.

"I am Jason." He said, with a smile.

"Keira." She responded, dropping the glass.

"And yes it's my first time here. I just wonder why you come here so often, are you that depressed?" She asked him.

He smirked.

"No. Not that. I just – find peace here." He told her.

"Peace in such a loud house?" She asked him.

"I like that you are smart." He said,

"Don't mistake it for me trying to impress you." She told him.

"Not at all." He told her with a smile.

"So what brings you here then?" He asked in a loud voice. It seemed the musical volume had gone to a higher tempo.

"Some away time." She responded.

"Oh, I got you. Want to get somewhere quiet?" He asked her again,

"I really don't want to be too far." She said,

"It's just down the street, I promise." He said,

"I don't know." She replied.

Jason looked down and saw her glass was empty. He signalled the bartender for another.

"I could give you a while to think about it only that you would need to find me in the crowd afterwards." He told her with a smile.

"Trusting strangers has never had a happy ending." She said,

"Depends on your definition of a happy ending. Anyways,  it was nice talking with you. See you around." he told her,  dropping some mints on the bar desk at the exact moment the bartender put the filled glass before her.

"Wait." Keira voiced,

"This— place. How crazy is it?" She asked him.

"Why do you believe my life revolves around crazy?" he asked her with a smile.

"It's obvious." She responded.

"I'm not that predictable." He puffed.

"Prove it." Keira challenged him with a smile on her face and raised brows.

"Very well then," he said,

————

"Fancy," Keira said, once she had slipped her body into the seat at the other end of the mini glass table.

"I know this wasn't your actual intention." She added, looking at Jason who took his seat at the other end which was in front of her.

"Where did you think?" He inquired.

"Definitely a strip club." She said,

He smiled.

"Well, don't get me wrong…" he said,

Keira had already lowered her head a bit trying to hide the laughter even though he must have seen it.

"I just find comfort in—" he said,

—"being wild." She completed his statement.

"Yeah." he breathed.

"No need to ask about your body count." She said,

"Yeup.  No need." He rushed.

A waiter had approached them at the moment to take their orders and with the help of the menu, they were able to come to a choice of meal for dinner.

"I don't really feel confident in my pick." She said,

"Trust me, every pick on their menu is a good one." He assured her.

"There are so many people here." She voiced, glancing around carefully to not get caught.

"I take it you don't go out much." He concluded.

"I don't even talk to boys." She said,

He raised his brows.

"What?" she inquired.

"Nothing. It's just—I mean, you are beautiful and I expected you would be in a relationship or have a crush or something," he said,

"Why would I agree to come here with you if I was in a relationship?" She asked,

"It's just a harmless date," he replied.

The waiter had returned and now placed their orders before them carefully and professionally. He must have taken his training seriously to be that good.

"Thank you." She said to him with a smile,  he took a brief bow before leaving.

"Whoever said this was a date?" She responded, lifting cutleries and taking a taste of the meal with them.

"Not bad." She voiced.

"Not bad?" he asked,

"No, it's— actually superb. Oh my God.." She shut her eyes while chewing properly to really get the feel of every bit of the tastiness.

"I told you," he said, digging into his plate.

"Have you ever been on a date?" He inquired.

"No." She said,

He choked briefly and quickly drank from his glass of wine.

"What? Are you okay?" she asked in a worried tone.

"You haven't been on a date?" he asked once his throat was cleared to allow air passage.

"Maybe I am scared of the male species." She said,

"Why?" He looked very confused.

"The only man I trusted was my father then my uncle and they both passed. Growing up and watching and hearing how your kind treats my kind,  I just gave up on the belief that good men can be found in this generation." She replied.

"Wow. That's— wow.  Heartbreak— goes both ways. Either of our species can be the cause of it. That doesn't mean we shouldn't even try.

I know a couple—The Mattsons, they have been married for ten years and when seeing those two, you would see nothing but love.

Love is really two persons willing to keep the fire burning. I don't think anyone should be scared of love. There is no fear in love. What would be the point of dying knowing that you lived and never loved or allowed yourself to be loved?" He said,

Keira's eyes blinked several times as her mind processed his words. Her conscience could not allow her to deny that there was truth in all he had just said,

"Sorry, excuse me, I have to use the restroom." He told her, getting up.

She could only force smiles at him as a means of her understanding but while she sat there in deep thought, she shut her eyes and heaved a pretty long sigh.

————

Taking a turn and another turn, he soon got to the men's and carefully shut the door behind him, locking it afterwards.

"What's taking you so long?"

The image of a man appeared to be on his right dressed in a black suit.

"I don't think she is the one we are looking for," Jason said,

"You don't think? Whoever asked for your opinions? You had your orders, lure her into our space, and there are more than enough capable hands on deck to decipher if she is the one we are looking for or not.

Do not get ahead of yourself here little brother, this — is not— a game." the man in black spoke in a very deep voice.

"I have it under control but I know what I say. He would be more upset knowing that your suspicions were wrong and that we wasted his time.

I do not want him unleashing his wrath on us," Jason told him.

"Is it really that or you don't want us preventing you from getting to f*ck her?" The man said,

"What?" Jason gave a disgusted facial expression.

"Don't pretend to me, of course, I put something on you to listen in on your little chit-chats. Why are you so weak with women?

You can rest now. I had the waiter slip something into her drink and she is being moved as we speak." The man told him, turning away and scrolling through the mobile phone he brought out of his trouser pocket.

"Hey.. Hey..  Do not— hurt her."

Jason said in a worried tone.

"I don't decide what is to be done to or with her and maybe if you came out of mother as a girl, I would understand your softness." The man said, walking towards the open window and jumping out of it like one whose bones could not break.
