Chapter 14 - Badhi Guild

It was a brawl between a shopkeeper and a customer, the loud banging caused by a thrown table. Soon, soldiers arrived at the scene and arrested the customer, revealing his identity as a bandit before he was thrown into jail.

"Looks like there'll be a lot of chaos for a bit since the city is full of foreigners at the moment." Said Maron as he turned his head to see Tufail. "Cap'?"

He found that his companion was not there anymore. "Tsk, lost again…"

Meanwhile, Tufail was strolling in the city as he scratched his head. "Where the hell am I?"

The guild was based inside a big ziggurat. Its basement even had a bar and cafeteria while the ground and first floor had mission boards for adventurers. While the second and third floors belonged to the guild's administration.

Maron stepped inside, examining the people, noticing there were powerful adventurers all around. However, his gaze stopped at a certain person, holding a spear in his hand. His face was veiled by a mask and he caught Maron's gaze as he raised his head.

The two stared at each other for a while before Maron moved again, heading straight for the receptionist's desk.

"Excuse me, I would like to meet the master of Badhi Guild." Said Maron.

"I apologise but that's not possible at the moment. The Guild Master is very busy currently." The clerk replied, but in response Maron took out a token. "I hope this still works." He thought to himself before handing it to the receptionist. "Show this to your master, you might get a promotion."

This surprised the clerk as he assumed this person was some sort of big shot, however, he kept his composure. "Alright, I'll do that, please wait a moment."

As the clerk went upward, Maron turned his head to take a look at the mysterious spear-holder but he was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile, at the very top floor of the building, a man with a full beard and full suit was busy chatting with another individual. "Come in." Said the Guild Master.

The desk clerk came in with a bright smile on his face. "Sir, someone wanted to meet you, he showed me this token and asked me to show it to you."

The leader of the guild squinted his eyes as received the token, after a short inspection his eyes widened. The clerk saw that and happiness surged in his chest. "I'll go and bring him in right away." He said as he bolted towards the door.

"Wait!" The leader cried, causing the clerk to stop and turn. "Yes, master?"

"What the fuck is this rusty piece of shit! Who gave you this?"

"Eh!?" The desk clerk was flabbergasted while the Guild Master continued. "I believe I told you that I don't want to be disturbed, I hope you're ready for the consequences once I'm done with my guest."

"Bu-but master..." he stuttered. "Get lost!" The Guild Master shouted, making the clerk flinch and gulp before quickly leaving.

"Sigh, the city is about to be engulfed in fire and now these thugs have even appeared everywhere. To think they even hoodwinked my receptionist with this shitty token..." The Guild Master tossed the token into the trash bin. After which, his guest spoke as he turned his sights on the tossed token. "Things like this are common, fraud is everywh-" he stopped midway as his heart nearly jumped out of his chest. He zipped and caught the token in mid-air. "This..." the man was stupefied.

At the same time, the desk clerk trampled his way downward while Maron was waiting with a faint smile. "What did he say?" Asked Maron.

"Get lost, get hell out of here!" The desk clerk lost his composure, and Maron's face turned grave. "Sigh, we really have been forgotten by this new generation..." he thought.

He looked at the clerk again before saying "Sure thing, pardon me for my foolishness. I'll leave, please give me back my token then."

"Your token is th-"

"Where is that man who gave you this token?" Before the clerk could finish, the Guild Master came down hastily, shouting.

"M-master, he's here. Just give me a second and I'll throw this swindler out." The receptionist explained. However, contrary to his expectations, his master turned red in rage. "You'll do what? This is a VIP, how dare you call him a swindler. If not for the guild's rules, I would have killed you today. You are fired, get the hell out of my guild!"

The desk clerk's eyes popped out, his jaw dropped, and he went blank. "What... did I... do?" It was a very unfortunate day for him.

The Guild Master quickly moved towards the owner of the token. "Greetings sir, are you the owner of this token?" He inquired. "Indeed, I am. Do you know of it?" Maron asked.

"Haha, yes, yes, what self-respecting individual wouldn't." Said the master with a smile as Maron smirked. "Is that so... what does it mean then?"

The former flinched, gulped and tried his best to recall something from his memories but couldn't. "It's from the Mheerio Empire." A voice came from the stair's direction, making Maron squint his eyes in interest as he looked at its source. He found that it was the same mysterious spear-wielder from earlier.
