God Tamer Zeshion was, if not the most, powerful tamer among the five God tamers. It was said that he once managed to suppress the advance of the demons at the frontlines for a whole month alone, giving the allied forces time to recuperate. It was a feat that wasn't possible for any other God tamers.
So for normal tamers, hearing him give such praise to someone is an honor similar to the Guinness book of world records awarding the label of "best" to someone. Of course, it was the same for me. If I fail to control my expression, then I may end up with a wide grin right now.
After I returned to the waiting room, I couldn't hold it in and finally let out a hearty laugh. I felt proud that such an esteemed person had said that I am a "promising" tamer.
While I was still on cloud nine, the announcer quickly announced the entrance of the two next contestants. Since the stage wasn't damaged in any way during our battle, the next fight immediately began.
The following battles were bland and slow compared to the first match of two dragons. Although the matches were boring, it was more or less in line with how a newbie should be able to perform. The first interesting match after that was the battle of the 31st and the 32nd block winners. It was a fight between a plant-type beast called Decade Lily and a wolf-type beast called Shadow Wolf.
It wasn't showy in terms of their exchange of skills, but rather in the way it ended.
Right after the fight started, the shadow wolf dived inside the stage's shadow (between the gap of each marble block) and launched a sneak attack at the Decade Lily. The Decade Lily couldn't hold back the wolf and was almost severed into two. Luckily, plant-type beasts are resilient, if not, then it would have been the first casualty in this tournament.
"That wolf sounds like trouble. The skill execution was probably spotless, based on how it was able to launch such a powerful sneak attack."
God Zeshion even gave a bit of praise for the tamer but also pointed out a problem with his temperament. His actions were clearly overkill for a simple competition like this. If his opponent wasn't a plant-type, then it would have probably died from that over-the-top attack.
"If I will get matched up with him, that would be at the semi-finals..."
That would be 5 matches away so I better focus on my next opponent first.
"And now, this is the last match for the morning battles! After this, several groups of entertainers would be performing on stage..."
It seems like lunchtime had come. The afternoon battles would probably start an hour or two from now. Since I was starting to get hungry, we went to the stalls to buy something to eat. Of course, due to the surge of people wanting to buy something to eat, each stall was crowded.
After I bought enough food, we returned to the waiting room. As participants, we need to be inside the waiting room even after our battles for the day have finished. This is to prevent us from directly watching the other contenders' fights.
Since this is the first round, I only have one fight for the day. Tomorrow, only the second round would be held. The day after, the fight for the third and fourth rounds would be held. The fourth day would be the semi-finals. The fifth and last day would be the finals of the tournament.

The afternoon matches were held afterward but only one match was able to capture my attention. The winner was a beautiful woman who tamed a rare Fairy-type monster called Ice Pixie. The battle was longwinded but it was definitely an overwhelming win. The opponent wasn't able to even get near the pixie. Even after using long-ranged projectiles, the pixie wasn't hurt even a little.
It seems that the pixie has a Legendary Skill called [Physical Damage Nullification] as God Zeshion explained. However, it seems that the skill level was still low and that it should have a limit. This gave the other tamers who only have physical damage skills a bit of hope.
"A pixie that uses long-ranged magic attacks and is almost invulnerable to physical attacks? Ember, it looks like we found your to-be nemesis."
Ember, hearing what I said, felt more excited than worried.
'I'll smash her to bits and prove my power!'
Her emotions were translated as such, full of confidence in her power.
Ember, right now, can only deal physical damage through her skills. What's more, all of it is only usable at close range. Fighting a control-type, physical-immune, long-range, flying monster is definitely not easy. Rather, even I think winning is next to impossible.
"However, it is my job as tamer to make you win!"
Afterward, all thirty-two matches for the afternoon were done and the participants were allowed to leave the waiting room. I headed back to the guest house and was told that they couldn't find enough room anywhere else in the city so I was allowed to stay at there until the tournament ended.
Three other participants stayed at the same inn as me, and they too were allowed to stay at the guest house for the same period. They were luckily outside the inn when the attack happened so they were only surprised a bit after finding the inn destroyed. One of the three lost during today's match and was forced to leave the guest house tomorrow.
At the dining table of the guest house, the three tamers were finishing their meal silently until they saw me approach.
"Ah, it's the slime guy!"
The girl in twin tails shouted in excitement.
"Oh, it's true. So you were here too."
The other girl, who was a temperate beauty said with a smile.
"Oh, brother. It's a shame. Hehe."
The third person, who was actually my opponent today, laughed embarrassedly.
