Murim is a monarchy. However, that is rarely the case.

And when the throne falls into the hands of a child and ministers go corrupt, the power of generals becomes more distinct and more dominant. A powerful emperor is able to subdue the generals, but even the powerful fall, and frequently so in Murim.

Even when the ministers are loyal, the general, more times than not, have their way. In a world where a person's strength and cultivation are all that matters, the influence of the army is undeniable.

Amidst the constant turmoil and chaos, only one truly powerful stands atop. They are the chosen ones and there are the favored.
