"Welcome to the system subspace! I will be your system partner for quite some time, I am System #1004"
Startled, the silver haired girl in the middle of the pure white room threw her fist at the floating cloud who suddenly appeared beside her. Unfortunately for her the cloud that referred to itself as system 1004 was a bit different from anything she has ever seen and so she wouldn't know that you are unable to touch them unless you are bonded to them, willingly.
"What the fu-, who- what are you? " she asked perplexed.
" Replying to host, I am system 1004, I will be your companion for some time"
"Ok?" she eyed the creature warily "And where am I?"
"Host is in the system subspace, this is the place where you will meet clients and accept jobs to fix their lives" the system replied excitedly. This was their first time having a host so they decided that they will dote on them, like an older sibling.
" Clients? What clients?"
" Host is now a tasker chosen by the gods to go to different types of worlds to help the pathetic Protagonists who were to weak or too stupid to save themselves and their worlds"
"I refuse now send me home."
"Host dosen't remember? Host had died."
"What?" 'Died? How did I die?' the silver haired beauty was stunned into silence.
"Host was hit by a car after rejecting the 4th business proposal that week"
" Impossible, I'm always careful there's no way I would just die just like that"
"Host is correct, it was planned by your competitors. The one who killed you was poisoned afterwards to not leave any traces of evidence behind"
"…Whatever, ok so what were you saying about helping people who can't help themselves?"
The system suddenly perked up at hearing that their host was interested in what they were supposed to do and hurriedly explained again "We will invite the souls or spirits if you prefer, of the protagonists here to the space and listen to their requests, after hearing their requests we will go to their world as someone who will guide to protagonist to a good life…" the system noticed the bored look on the host's face and then decidedly added "...or we could go the counter-attacking route, where we would go directing to the clients body, take over their life and build it from the ground up, not really from the ground in some cases but you understand what I mean."
"You mean those that are more well off yes I understand" the silver haired girl replied with a blank look on her face.
The system thought she found these specific departments boring so they spent some time talking about all the different departments in the system " We have the Golden halo systems who specialize in over throwing the protagonists by siphoning their luck, Heartbreaker systems, they are basically those who go to different worlds to save relationships and they don't actually stay in those worlds unless they fall in love with the clients lover, Counter-attack systems, they are the only ones who are able to directly murder the protagonists with no drawbacks however the protagonists in those worlds are ridiculously strong so most would avoid going there, I will not explain anymore about that because I already told you about that, Protagonist's helper systems and then we have the…"
The girl quickly interrupted the systems babbling "Ok I got it enough no more, you will give me a headache", she stood there with a contemplative look on her face, she then asked, " Is there a way to go home other than doing this for possibly thousands of years?".
"No, not really, but do you really want to go back home? Afterall you weren't really happy there"
"No I don't but i just wanted to know"
"Ahh…I see, so have you chosen which department you want to join?"
"Which department is the most popular?" she suddenly asked.
"The Golden Halo System is currently the most popular because of the ranking boards."
The silver haired girl showed a confused expression before she asked " What ranking boards?"
The system seemed to have just realized that they hadn't told her about the ranking systems.
"The ranking systems are like this: There are eight different system departments in total, the more successful missions you have the higher your rankings within the department. The Grade also raises or lowers your score, currently the grades are S, A, B, C, D, E, F with S as the highest and F as the lowest. Your score also appears on the joint scoreboard, the joint score board has the scores of the best Taskers, regardless of the department that they are in, it also presents your face so the super strong taskers are like the celebrities from your world except they aren't swarmed by people wherever they go because the people here all have some level of self control, anyways currently the highest ranker has 7 S graded missions- and before you ask, it's because this is a relatively new system sub-space, because one space cannot contain the hundreds of thousands of taskers".
"O-Oh I see.." At a loss for words after she wasn't given the chance she noticed something
"System are you- were you human?"
… A moment passed.
"What made you think that?"
"Well, you speak an awful lot like a human"
" Oh, I see… well I don't know, the moment you become a system like me, you will no longer retain your memories from before so for your question of whether I was human, I don't know and quite frankly, I don't want to know I just have the feeling that nothing good will come of it.
"Ok, but are you sure you should be sharing this information with me?"
"No worries about that, if i do tell you something that I shouldn't then they will erase your memories of it and punish me" although the system said not to worry there was a small hint of fear hidden within that voice, the silver haired girl took note of that.
So in an effort to change the topic she said, "Ok then, I've chosen my department" suddenly a hologram appeared in front of her with the list of choices to choose from, she scrolled to the bottom of the list and chose her department.
"Huh? I thought for sure that you were going to choose…"
