Soon, the others arrived and started helping Scarlet and Caspian as they read through and organized all of the documents retaining the blood type information of every resident in Haverfall.
As it was a lot of information, it took them more than five hours for a little over half of all the documents. Of course, as time passed, they got quicker, and none of them showed any type of exhaustion aside from Scarlet.
As Caspian read through it, he managed to see the name and information of the first victim that was killed by that person in Haverfall. When he looked at the blood type, his eyes went wide as he spoke, "Scarlet, didn't you say that all of the victims had the Rh-null blood type…?"
"Yes…? Is there a problem…?" Scarlet glanced at Caspian.
Caspian then handed the paper to Scarlet, and her expression was filled with confusion as she said, "The blood type recorded for her… is AB…? It was also just a couple of months ago since her last check-up…. How is that possible?"
A solemn look overtook Caspian's face as he looked at Natalie and the others. Scarlet tried to decode everything, but she ruefully sighed as she leaned back against her chair while rubbing her head. "There's absolutely no possible explanation for this…."
Scarlet's thoughts accumulated as she tried racking her brain about everything she knew. She then said, "Maybe it's the wrong person…? But based on the picture, she's the same."
Caspian's expression then became serious as he said, "A mistake while assessing her blood type could've been possible too. Let's try not to dwell on it and try to finish all of this before midnight."
With a sigh, Scarlet nodded as they continued doing their work. As time passed, they were finally at the last couple of pages. Out of all the victims that were killed the exact same way, the first, second, and most recent victims weren't registered as having the Rh-null blood type.
Though, the thing that surprised them the most is that all of the people recorded as having the Rh-null blood type are all included in the list of having the rarest blood. "I didn't know that these people lived in Haverfall."
As Caspian grabbed the last document and read through it, his eyes gazed upon a name, "Mitchell Graham, male, fifty-eight years old. His blood type is… Rh-null…!"
Caspian then looked up and gazed at everyone. "We have one person here registered as someone with Rh-null, which means he might be a potential target."
Scarlet had a tired gaze as she heard them speak. She then said in a rueful tone, "Out of all the people with an Rh-null blood type recorded, only one is alive… *Sigh* If we'd gotten this information early, we could've protected those other people."
Caspian just tried to comfort Scarlet with a warm smile as he said, "What's done is done… Let's not dwell on the past and just try to save even one person."
Hearing that, Scarlet smiled as she sat down straight. She then said, "I'm still confused about the three victims who weren't registered as having Rh-null even though their blood type was exactly that when I tested it."
In a stoic voice, Naida then replied to Scarlet, "We'll be relaying that information to our captain for further investigation. You don't have to worry about that, Dr. Bell."
"I suppose so… well, good luck," Scarlet said with a smile.
Fortunately, they didn't waste that much time, as they managed to complete their task right before eleven o'clock. They then headed to Caspian's office, where Abby was patiently waiting outside.
As Abby saw them, she said, "So, any news?"
"Yeah, but it's best not to talk about it outside," Caspian said as he led everyone inside.
They all then found a place to sit as Caspian started speaking, "We have found one potential target of the murderer named Mitchell Graham. First, we must find out where he lives, and we should inform him about the situation and offer to safeguard him. If he disagrees, let's do it secretly."
Abby and the others nodded at the information. But before anything else could happen, Caspian looked at Naida and the others as he added, "Well, I would like to ask you if you happen to know anything about the issue wherein three of the victims weren't registered as having the Rh-null blood type?"
"It might be because a half-blood's body changes immensely if they awaken their supernatural abilities even slightly, which means coming in contact with the supernatural or awakening it themselves. That means the information recorded was probably before they awakened their abilities," Natalie said.
"But I don't know how this relates to blood type since most of the time, a person's blood type doesn't change even if they awaken. They could be a special case, though. Maybe their blood evolved into that type after being mixed with concentrated supernatural blood?"
"That could be the case, but if one thing's for sure, all of the victims are registered supernatural, which means they're half-blood. Those three are not registered, but they're children of a supernatural being," Abby added to what Natalie said.
Hearing this, Caspian asked, "That would mean that every single one of the victims are half-bloods. Hmm… is Mitchell Graham also a registered supernatural?"
"We'll have to review the information at the bureau first before we can confirm. We'll be able to determine that tonight," Naida said as she leaned against the sofa.
"I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow to approach him," Caspian scratched his chin. "But we can still send some people to safeguard him after we locate his whereabouts. I don't like the thought of this, but we need to make him the bait to lure that bastard out."
The others nodded at that as Lucia replied, "Well, while Naida, Natalie, and Irene beings the information to the bureau, I can manage that. Just give me a picture, and I'll be able to trace his whereabouts in no time. After all, I'm the best tracker in the unit."
After that, she pointed slightly at her nose, causing Caspian to chuckle. He then nodded in agreement.
"Well, with all that settled, can I ask if you have more information about that criminal organization and the figure that had been supporting them in the shadows?" Caspian looked at Naida solemnly.
"Hmm, we only got this information approximately five hours ago, but the bureau had found some traces of the mastermind, but he's not from this district," Naida said as she started remembering the information that was given to her. "Our trackers found tracks leading to the Central District and the Rosewell District. He's in either one of those districts."
Caspian nodded as he said, "Then we have a lot of politicians that we need to investigate since most of them live there."
Naida and the others nodded, confirming Caspian's statement.
After a moment of silence, Natalie said, "Ah, since there's nothing else, I think we should get going."
Caspian agreed as he stood up. "Well, it's already night. We might as well get some rest. Good luck with the tracking, Lucia."
"Yeah, yeah," Lucia said as she left ahead of all of them. Natalie gave a small smile while Irene waved goodbye in a coquettish manner, slightly annoying Abby, who shook her head. Naida simply ignored all of them as she walked straight out.
As they said their goodbyes, they all headed their separate ways, with Naida and the others heading to wherever they were going and Caspian and Abby heading back to their apartment.
As they drove toward Caspian's apartment, Caspian said in a tired voice, "The past few days have been uneventful, yet I feel so tired."
"That's true; it's been suspiciously quiet. Aside from the recent murder, there hasn't been any movement from that killer or from Fallen," Abby said as she leaned against the seat.
"Mhm."
Seeing Caspian's solemn face, Abby smiled charmingly as she held on to his arm and leaned her head onto it. Caspian couldn't help but voice out, "Hey. I'm driving!"
"Hey, I wanna drink some booze," Abby said with a pout.
This caused Caspian to laugh as he replied, "I have some beer at home. Let's just try to drink moderately."
"Oh, wait, you don't know that supernatural beings can drink more than a barrel of beer but don't get drunk? Damn! You're living under a rock!" Abby laughed loudly as she pinched Caspian's nose.
"What are you, a fun fact machine? But… is that true…?" Caspian was curious since he hadn't drunk a lot of beer after becoming a dhampir.
Abby giggled as she nodded. Just as he saw that, revelation appeared in Caspian's thoughts. He then said with a laugh, "So that's why I could never beat you and mom in a drinking competition!"
"Exactly," Abby said as they were one turn away from their destination.
However, as she turned her head slightly, her eyes went wide open. She then pushed Caspian, causing him to look at her with slight agitation, but it immediately disappeared as he saw Abby's panic-stricken expression.
"What's going on!?" Caspian still hadn't noticed a thing, but as he looked at the window, he paled.
Then, with a hasty voice, Abby shouted, "GET OUT!"
