"What is this?" Helsing asked when the officers called him.
They came running from the forest after inspecting the area exhaustively. At least a group of thirty or more men had ventured inside to check and perhaps find a clue about the beast, but what they found froze them.
Several animals, from a couple of bears to some foxes and birds, were dead, scattered around the forest like a cruel slaughter.
Their bodies seemed to have been drained of all blood, leaving only their bones and skin. It was a horrible sight.
Helsing frowned. This could only be the work of a vampire, a very thirsty one, perhaps, a newborn or converted. One who cannot control his instincts and is hunting for prey, but could only find animals at the moment.
However, the Union hunters should be on the lookout for such individuals, and it's been a long time since he's heard of a converted vampire who has lost his mind.
