Chapter 16 - Ch 16: Loyalty as the prices to pay

A question was asked by the drow elf before the girl.

"I don't understand the meaning of the question," she said, staring back into those rose-hued eyes of the elf face close to hers.

"It's a simple question, do you want to die that can't be that difficult to answer." Xalroz chuckled afterward.

"It is not difficult, just not something I can answer when it is not something I think about. Unless you plan to kill me, is that it." The girl asked.

"I don't plan to do anything to you, only you must decide at this moment of living or dying," Xalroz said to her as he took a step backward.

The wolves there are still hanging around nearby by their new master.

"How is it my decision? I don't even deserve to be in this situation in the first place. I'm a daughter of a powerful man who will make these savage Vikings pay….. for what they did to me."

Xalroz could tell what the girl mean we're not hard to tell that she has been violated by some of the Northerners. Must be the ones that returned from their rides.

The question is how this one came to fall prey to them will be a mystery for the time being.

"Tell me what your name is." He asked.

"My name you asked for is Yesenia Kathleen White."

"A lovely name to know, I will tell you about this Yesenia, a production of the future. You can keep on running, but there will be death out here since you don't look much to survive it. Lucky another person here will find you and do whatever they want to you."

"So what, I'm supposed to keep living the life of a slave just like you," Yesenia said that to be an insult to him, but did not react to it.

"Sadly I'm not, I was lucky to be adopted by this family to be raised as one of them."

"How blessed for you, but it doesn't mean they care about you that way." Yesenia takes a step forward removing herself from the tree. "Surely that can take a turn any time of any second."

"Oh you're not wrong, but that's for my worries, not yours. There is still the issue of what you want to do in the now and time is ticking. Keep running to see where it goes or give up on it and live the life of a slave."

Yesenia starts to think about those two options clearly to not love either of them because they don't bring anything good to her.

"I don't want to die or want to experience such treatment like before again, but what is there for me to do living?" Her voice was breaking, seeming she was at a moment near the breaking point of crying.

Xalroz says nothing at the moment just looking at her. Thinking then coming up with an idea that can make this human female useful to him here in the north and out there on the other lands.

"I can help you, but it's going to come at a price you see." He says which brings out a reaction from the girl.

"What kind of price are you talking about?" Yesenia is concerned about what it might be this elf is going to ask of her and the thing she worries about will possibly be something to like.

"Loyalty will be the payment for my help and protection." Protection has now been added as it is something the girl is going to need to not deal with Sigehelm like that again.

The only thing is this elf is asking for her to be loyal to him. Yesenia wonders if there is something he can be planning later on.

"How can I be sure you protect me and this helps as well." Yesenia had to ask in being sure when agreeing to this deal.

"I never break my word unless I have a reason to do so. Right now I don't have one and so you will get what I offer to you."

"I guess it's just up to me to take it as it is nothing more than that."Xalroz didn't answer, just smiled at her being that as an answer.

"Fine, what other choice is there for me to pick?"

"Good then let's go, time spent out here has been too long, but there is one question I have to ask. What was the reason you looked at me this morning?"

Yesenia was the one to not respond just yet acting shy all of sudden until speaking. "I witnessed you coming back to that house. It was clear that you were doing something out there in these woods."

"So someone did catch well at least it can't make trouble for me," Xalroz said that the girl didn't like not holding back her voice about it.

"I can still make trouble, but don't think just because of what happened to me that I'm completely helpless." After Yesenia said that she wasn't ready when the feeling of a hand grabbed tightly around her throat.

Xalroz lifted her into the air with just this one hand. The wolves watch wondering if their master is going to feed this human to them.

"Listen well to my advice here if you want to keep your life, don't run your mouth that can get you into trouble. Be smart and play the part given to stay alive, hear me."

She was then let go hard to the ground to take the chance of breathing again.

"Let go."

[Back at the farm]

Xalroz and Yesenia had come back to the farm after their time walking back to the place in silence. The girl who had taken to heart his advice still has that sensible feeling of the hand that was around her neck not long ago.

where soon both come to meet someone looking to be waiting with another person standing at the side.

"I learned that you and Sigelehm had gotten yourself in a fight. The reason that happened was because of that slave right."
