Mikhail's spear pierced through the back of the beast's head, destroying its brain a few moments later.
In the beast's last moment of consciousness, all it could think of was a way to defend itself.
As the spear's momentum came to a halt, and as the beast's corpse began falling to the ground, a flash of orange light shot outwards. It obscured Mikhail's figure and the battlefield surrounding him for a few instants, before dissipating into orange sparkles, carried away by the gentle breeze.
Mikhail grunted, annoyed by the sudden sting in his eyes, but was otherwise unharmed.
And after he rubbed his eyes, he opened them to find that he was the only survivor of his battlefield. Benvolio had been cut to ribbons just before Mikhail had had the chance to save him.
He looked at his body, and then he looked at everyone else. And then, his eyes went over all the other people who had died, most of which were nameless in his mind.
