CARVER'S POV

I spent the entire class thinking about my action, earlier and looking at the entrance of the class and around the class for them, my eyes raking every corner of the class. I couldn't tell if I acted like a coward would or if it was just better avoiding getting into anymore trouble than I was already in. I honestly couldn't tell. I never thought that I'd have to face that again. Face them again.

If I only I laid low like Lucas told me and didn't go to help that girl, to help Ariana maybe they wouldn't have noticed me on time, maybe I would have noticed them first since they were always the first to something really stupid.

School went by really fast. Last class was over and the class bell rang. Luckily for me I didn't see them in the hallway. I smiled in victory thinking I did the right thing. I was walking down a alley which was a short cut to my house when I heard whimpers coming from behind a block.

"So you think you're gonna get a way with this, because some hotshot came saving you?" That voice was so familiar. I clenched my fists, mentally groaning.

" Why do people have to be so stupid?" I mumbled to myself. I wanted to turn back and run away because the person I was going to save wasn't worth the save, but I couldn't stop myself it was like my feet moved on their own.

I moved closer and I saw Brianna grabbing a hand full of Ariana's hair and yanking it with force, they look of her glasses again and gave it to Joyce. Joyce began to cry but wiped it immediately. I saw she was terrified, she didn't like what was going on but neither was she going stop it.

"Don't you get tired of acting this way?" I heard myself say, this time I didn't yell enough to make them flinch but my words came out in a cold yet calm tone.

"You could save yourself the trouble and walk away. You're new, you shouldn't be butting into other people's businesses it's wrong." Palome said to me.

"Well as long as you're being a cunt, and as long as you're treating Ariana anyhow. I definitely won't stand for it. Know that well, and know that good." I replied.

"Who do you think you are? Savage king?" Selena scoffed.

"I'd understand if you were doing this for a pretty girl, but her?" Brianna yanked her hair again and Ariana let out a yelp, gasping like she couldn't breathe. I could only wonder what else they had done to her. I only ever thought that my gender was brutal. I had no idea that females could be so violent too.

"Well well well if it ain't our dear chicken." Aaron snickered from behind me.

"Dude! Can't fight a man but, you can fight a woman that's lame bro. I expected better from something like you." He said before making his mouth into a O. "Oh wow I should have expected it from a chicken."

"Yo Selena! The dude I always told you from elementary and middle school?"

"Yeah?" She said to him.

"See this dork here. He's the one." He pushed me to the front.

"I don't have time for this, let Ariana go and we'll have no issues." I sighed.

"Nathaniel this ain't no story or movie, this is real and you're gonna get it if you don't get out of here. We'll save your treat for another day." Sean pushed me to the wall and went over there Brianna who was still holding Ariana captive.

"So why'd you call me?" Sean freely placed his arm around Brianna's shoulder. I felt like I was wasting too much time. I shoved the two of them hard and grabbed Ariana's hand.

"How dare you?!" Sean growled.

Aaron came forward. He was grinning devilishly cracking a few knuckles before kicking me at my knee making me fall to my knees. He managed to haul me up, slamming my body against the wall.

I hit him in the stomach. I didn't spare a second as I hit him in the face repeatedly. He hit me back, grabbed my arm and twisted it. Punching me from time to time as I grunted and winced in pain.

My lips became bruised, but I was glad my punches gave him a pink eye. We both kept hitting each other while the others stayed silent.

"Hey!" I heard Palome scream, but that didn't stop the fist serving.

"I said stop." She pulled Aaron to the back using all her energy into it.

I had no idea why she stopped us. I thought she enjoyed scenarios like that. She said she only wanted to scare Ariana. Really? With them taking off her glasses and yanking her hair repeatedly.

Selena spoke to Aaron. Sean left first. I could tell he was upset.

"Some other day punk. I've missed hitting you though." Aaron chuckled slyly leaving the scene. I mustered every bit of strength in me to keep myself from hitting him again and again.

Selena, Palome, Aaron and Joyce said nothing. In fact they looked unconcerned, their expressions were blank, and it scared me. No good came from people like them.

"Bye." Selena smiled at me. They changed in the blink of an eye from a demon to an angel. I guess bitches do switch up really quick. Aaron was the dumbest being to walk the earth. I thought he called me a chicken. He obeys everything those girls tell him. Talk about things you don't see everyday, that was totally something that would never happen. I rolled my eyes and dragged silent Ariana away while limping, I don't know what strength he used in hitting me, but he did it viciously.

"Why do you let them do that to you?" I asked her, upset but she remained silent.

"Where do you leave? You have to get home?" I asked but she didn't still say a word.

"Hey, your silence isn't helping any of us. Which way leads to your house?" I rolled my eyes, I looked at her and remembered her glasses weren't on her but it didn't mean she lost her sense of hearing.

"So? are you going to speak or not? You're starting to make me look stupid for interfering."

"Why'd you help me?" Her voice came out cold and shaky. I was about to speak when-

"Why?" She cut me in.

The truth was that I had no idea why I kept helping her maybe because I had gone through the same thing too and well I couldn't stand them anyway. I didn't know how to explain it in a way that she wouldn't feel like a pity case.

"I don't know. I guess I just can't stand people like them. Besides, anyone who picks on a weaker person is a loser." I shrugged. She didn't reply me, She just stood still.

"Nothing to say? Want me to lie to you and say I saved you because I like you? Pfffttt" The expression on her face made me laugh.

"Not that. I'm s-sorry for how I acted this morning. I don't know why I did either. I guess I don't trust you. I still don't trust you either but you stood up for me again even with what I did earlier. Thank you." She grinned at me.

"Nah, it's cool. How do you plan to get home?"

"No idea."

"Oh wait!" Her eyes widened as she remembered something. Her hands searched round the pockets of her denim jeans and she brought out her phone.

"The password is Colrianna. Please call Melanie and tell her the situation at hand." She told me.

I did as she instructed, I told Melanie everything and we waited in silence for her to arrive with her chauffer. Melanie supported her friend by hoisting her up from the bench in which we sat, took her into the car and sat right beside her while I sat in the front next to her chauffer, Mr O'Brien.

My thoughts made me wander far away, it was the honk from the Bentley that pulled me out of my trance.

"We're here." Melanie chirped in her over optimistic high pitched voice.

I was surprised I almost did not know what to say they stopped in my street.

"Have they been stalking me?" I muttered, but I waved that thought.

Melanie helped Ariana get out of the car, onto a porch. It was then I realized that was where she lived, her house was only a few blocks from mine. We were neighbors.
