Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Testing His Patience

"Why are you ghosting around?" Mira scowled angrily at him.

"Are you a wild dog?" he asked with his eyebrows frowned together, a scowl etched on his handsome face.

"It is called self-defense," Mira defended herself defensively as she crouched down to pick her things up.

"Nothing good comes when I am around you," Zion muttered under his breath as he looked at the biting wound. The skin underneath was red and swollen from the bite.

Mira stood up from the floor and looked at his wound. It felt like a wild dog bite mark.

She reached out and gingerly touched the wound. His skin was warm, yet smooth.

"Wait," she said and pulled her left hand inside her bag and retrieved a bandage. Its color was light pink with some cartoon dogs printed on it.

She tore off the wrapper and moved toward his hand where the wound was located. But he brushed off her hand when she approached it.

"I am not applying. It is so childish," he grumbled.

Mira stared back at him unimpressed.

How could a man be so immature and self-absorbed?

She grabbed his hand forcefully and applied the bandage on the bite mark a bit aggressively.

"Hey easy there,"  he warned, raising an eyebrow. Mira ignored his comments.  Once she finished applying the bandage she stepped back and eyed him warily.

"It's done," Mira said simply as she crossed her arms across her chest.

"Hmm," he hummed as he turned towards the elevator. He opened the door and stepped inside the elevator.

"Just hmmm," Mira mimicked him, she followed him and entered the elevator. The doors closed and then Mira pressed the button to go down to the basement. The elevator started to move down.

"Can't he say thank you? Or anything else other than 'hmm', " she mumbled to herself before following his suit by pressing the button to go down.

After a short while the elevator arrived at the basement level. Zion exited the elevator first and waited for Mira to exit the elevator but she was immersed in her thoughts.

"Are you coming or not?"  Zion questioned. His hand stopped the closing doors of the elevator.

She snapped out of her thoughts and nodded at him in response. Following him closely. Both of them exited the elevator and went towards their respective cars.

He halted towards his car when his eyes fell on the message that was penned with red lipstick on his car window.

'Go To Hell Devil' His jaw dropped when he looked at the screech lines on his car bonnet that ruined his beautiful car.

"Mira!!"  he roared as he clenched his fists tightly and his teeth. A scampering car stopped in front of him. The window rumbled down and Mira popped her head out of the window.

"What happened President Martson? Why are you screaming?" she asked innocently.

"Is this what you're doing?" he pointed at his car angrily as a rage-filled aura radiated off his body and his eyes burned with anger.

"Do you have any proof?" Mira blinked her innocent puppy eyes at him.

Zion bent down and placed his arm on the car's door. His eyes stared at her intensely.

"Mira, you are testing my patience," his voice held an edge of irritation.

"I dare not do that President Martson," she replied without batting an eyelash. She was confident in her answer.

"If there is nothing else then I shall leave. Good night President Martson," Mira smiled sweetly at him.

Nodding his head at her statement he removed his hands from her car's door. Placing his hands inside his pockets and waited for her to drive away.

Seeing the hands removed from the car's door. She pressed the button to close the window.  Once the window had fully closed.

With one last glance, she ignited the engine of the car and drove away from him.

...

'Reid's Villa.....'

Mira entered the villa. As soon as she shut the door the maids immediately welcomed her.

"Good evening Miss Mira," the butler greeted her as he bowed to her politely.

"Good evening butler Walker. Is Grandma sleeping?"  Mira inquired as she took a look around the hallway

"She has been waiting for you at the dining table," Butler replied as he led her to the dining room.

"Good evening Grandma!" Mira greeted enthusiastically as she hugged the old woman who was dressed in black pencil dress. Her hairs tied in a elegant bun. A diamond necklace rested on her wrinkled neck. She looked up at Mira and smiled before kissing her cheek.

"How was your day, dear?" Savannah, her grandma asked, looking up at her. A smile twitched across his lips showing wrinkles and lines in the corners of his eyes.

"It was good," Mira replied with a faint smile or to be exact with a fake smile as her mind wandered off to today's event.

"My day around the devil can never be a good day. If only I could punch his handsome face," Mira thought bitterly as she sat on a chair opposite Grandma

"Vincent gather everyone for dinner,"  Grandma directed Butler Walker to call the remaining family members for dinner.

"Okay master,"  Butler Walker bowed before turning around and leaving the dining hall. Eventually, They heard footsteps approaching the dining hall. Soon the footsteps came to a stop in front of the dining table.

"Come in," Grandma called them all. There were four of them including Kieran, his mother, Aunt Linda, and her daughter Jane with butler. All of them sat on their respective seats. The food arrived shortly after they were seated. It was beef steak, white sauce pasta, Chicken broth, fattoush salad with yorkshire pudding.
