Chapter 1 - Prologue - The End of the fucking World

It's today.

The day the world literally ends.

The day everything turned upside down, when the sky turns black and the ground crumbles away.

Cyril knew that for sure, however, he only felt relieved because of it.

Of course, he also was feeling annoyed and agitated. He detested those damned pests with every fiber of his being, this is mostly why he still remains standing till now, even after everyone else has already collapsed.

If this is truly his end, Cyril will absolutely wipe out at least another million of its kind in pure spite. He is petty like that.

His opponent, the damn Conquerors, even till now remains mysterious. Even at death's door, Cyril couldn't help but be curious.

After all, for the past 15 years, there is still no one who could identify these creatures' origin, how they appear or the purposes behind their actions.

Humanity knows nothing.

No one knows the reason behind their brutal killing. Their indiscriminate, vicious slaughter are like those of simple-minded fiends that just act on instinct, but there have been signs that these creatures possess intelligence. Or at least, that is what we humans like to think. Well, no one like the idea of themselves being overwhelmed and exterminated by mindless beasts.

But curiosity aside, Cyril thought on this matter is quite simple. Those hideous things bite him, then he will no doubt bite back, all the while gnashing his teeth. Not even introducing him to their mother or lover will stop Cyril from killing them now.

At this point, he just simply wants to burn the trash.

Humanity has already failed in its last-ditch effort siege. Their fate are already determined.

This whole final push plan is a bust, honestly, it is to be expected of a plan motivated by desperation. Cyril wasn't with the side that supported the plan, but he didn't intend to act all high and mighty and look for someone to blame.

None of it matters now.

They failed, but that meant that he would finally get some damned rest!

The feeling of relief was surprisingly more prominent than all else and Cyril couldn't help but broke out a stupid chuckle amid all the fighting.

"Have you finally gone mad, Cyril?" A low, but penetrating voice asked, a hint of curiosity within.

"It's none of your business, isn't it Baal?" Cyril grumbled in response with his now husky, hoarse voice.

He couldn't even laugh out loud for once without being pestered by the irritating demon, how fucking tiresome!

"It is, though." Baal grinned disgustingly. "That means I can finally have a little taste of your tenacious soul, isn't that right?"

"Sure." Cyril can only shrug at his demon's words. He's dead anyways, whether his soul going to act as dinner or not is none of his concern. "Will you even live through this though?"

"I do not know." Baal brushed the question off nonchalantly, uninterested in his own matter of life or death.

Already expecting this answer, Cyril returns his sight and focuses on the battlefield.

In front of his eyes, millions on millions of disgusting foes still rampaging in absolute eerily silence, like they always did. It was quite lucky that the ground has already collapsed, forming a small dome where the battle is happening, otherwise, Cyril would have to spend much more of his blood for some aerial combatant.

Even among heated combat, his job remains quite lax.

Looking at the rows of demons holding the line in his stead gleefully, Cyril's only job is to replace the deceased demons with new ones. But since demons are never known for their teamwork capability, the battle line collapses at a ridiculously frequent rate.

Cyril already slashed off one of his fingers for a continuous supply of fresh blood, and he is already starting to feel light-headed from the prolonged fight.

'...I wonder how she is doing?' Cyril idly thought.

However, he was rudely interrupted.

A small red demon, maybe a newborn imp or gremlin, suddenly broke out of line and rushed toward him. Giggling like an absolutely insane child with its sharp rows of teeth showing.

But before it enters anywhere near Cyril's vicinity, Baal makes a swift hand motion and obliterates the poor demon's small, bobbling head.

"For fucks sake, how hard is it to get some high-quality demons around here?" Cyril complains. "I've lost count of how many demons have tried to rebel already."

"Thanks to you, Hell has apparently run out of stock for mature demons." Ball gives a small laugh in response. "These little ones are newborns, so it is to be expected."

Cyril lets out an exaggerated sigh. The damn underworld has never failed to disappoint him, Cyril is just tired at this point.

*BOOM

An explosion was suddenly heard nearby.

"Another fucking wave, these pests have gone insane." Cyril mumbled, looking straight at the millions upon millions incoming reinforcement wave of his hated foe.

"You're up, Baal." He spoke, his hands already moving to draw up another circle under his feet.

Baal yawned in response.

'I wonder how he is doing.' Azia thought to herself.

Is not like she has anything else to do other than idly thinking anyways, the whole 1km radius around her was simply a pool of blood.

Azia flung herself down, taking a moment to rest her sore muscles.

Soon, there will be another wave. That, she knows for a fact.

She has been fighting continuously for 3 days straight, from the moment the campaign begins, she and her team have always stood in the front line of humanity's last stand.

But now, only she remains standing.

She didn't bother looking for her teammate, nor did she want to. The moment your knees give up in battle, your fate is sealed. Azia doesn't wish to know the cruel fate that her cherished comrade suffered at the end of their life.

Soon, it will likely be her's too.

"...Pathetic." Azia chuckled out loud, breaking the uncomfortable silence on the battlefield for a moment by mocking her own weak state.

Unwilling to enjoy her own company a moment longer, Azia tiredly got back on her feet.

Smearing as much blood as possible on her body and blade before the imminent battle. The wrench of blood permeated her body, so much so that her body practically smell like blood even in her daily life. The disgusting smell that she is quite frankly sick of.

Any moment now, those disgusting creatures would either rain down from the sky or pop out of thin air and swarm around her. She only prayed that among them, one of the big ones would come for her.

Azia detested the idea of having to drown under a literal sea of those monsters, she much rather earns herself an honorable death, fighting against impossible odds!

No human has ever defeated an 'Advent' by themselves, even she wasn't sure about her chances in a one-on-one fight. Moreover, that thing has backups, lots of it.

"There is no better time to try other than now!" Azia screamed with a forced grin, releasing a bit of tension.

She then took the last moment of her time on earth to examine her trusty blade, which at this point is so dull that it is practically a bat. Repairing is out of the question, Azia could only ensure that not one centimeter of the blade is not covered in blood.

Soon enough, another batch descended and all resemblance of color disappeared from the world once more. The already hazy sky turns black as if someone switches off the light, replaced by the loathsome black and gray from millions of creatures that suddenly appear all at once.

The creatures did not make a single sound, remaining absolutely silent even when being slaughtered. Azia herself is also not in the mood to chat with the fiends, so the battlefield stayed silent as the two sides observe each other.

A single human vs hordes of millions.

Azia steadied herself, tensing her legs and stabilizing her foundation. The creature is mute, but its bones do make a nice cracking sound when broken, and Azia is eager to hear it again.

She was ready.

"I pray to the Lord of war and battle, I pray to blood and glory, look in pity on all who are suffering during this time of adversity," Azia mumbled, knowing full well that her words will never reach the ears of her god.

Her whisper rang clear in the silent space, and her opponents starts to move.

"You shall come to judge, to teach hate, violence, and fear to those who oppose." Her sword came down on the nearest goblin's head, slicing it cleanly in half. Splashing yet even more blood on herself.

"Bless the enemy with miserable death and strengthen the sword with the blood of my foes," She continued, fending off the fang of beasts who were threatening to launch at her while quickly slashing at the flying monster that got itself a little too close, killing it instantly.

Azia now could no longer see past 1 meter, in front of her eyes were monsters on monsters, thousands, millions, billions of them. However, Azia herself is also no longer sane enough to care.

"I shall be your tool to exact verdict, I give my blood to protect and kill!" Azia finished her prayer with a scream, a glint of madness shining in her eyes. She is no longer tired or pained, only excitement and anger remain. "DEATH IS A MERCY, GLORY FOR THE VICTORIOUS!"

The blood on the battlefield trembles in response to her words. Azia could tell that she was being strengthened bit by bit, her dull sword becoming sharp again as the blood covering it turns sentient and solid.

She could feel what it wants, a tugging urge to draw even more blood onto the battlefield. And Azia comply.

*BOOOM

Before long, the earth itself shook and trembled.

A figure that shoulders the sky appears, splitting the unfortunate nearby hoard of monsters in half, forcing its way in.

Azia couldn't even discern any of its features, nor does she have the time to, she only knew that she had never seen something so frightening throughout her life. Her body shudder in response, whether it was out of instinctive fear or excitement, she could no longer discern.

'The big one is here.' She thought to herself, all the while slashing at a full row of monsters, severing their heads off their body.

The Advent has descent, hovering above the surface of the earth, adding height to its already ginormous stature.

Azia could tell that it was looking in her direction, she just knows.

After all, who else is here to hold off the disgusting fiends!
