Chapter 16 - Theories * Theories

In a windy dark woodland filled with trees that pierced through the sky, and nested by ravens that danced about in the twilight, A man attired in a raven-colored pelt knelt on a grassy patch of land. His black hair dragged across the dirt as his eyes bled red light.

"Zne'Khorevie…" The man spoke. "It's been confirmed."

His voice echoed through the vicinity, but no reply arrived.

Yet, he lingered for some… thing.

Through the silence broke a sound, and noise erupted from the back of a tree. Pieces of wood fell from it, and a shadow crept out from its branches before veering its head right with a crunching sound.

"The Plan…" The shadow whispered, and its neck squeaked, emitting bright sparks. "How's…The Plan…"

its metallic blue eyes dangled in its sockets as it stared at the atmosphere.

"There have been numerous complications, Master," The man replied with sweat running down his head.

He felt a chill spread across his back, watching closely as the silhouette observed from afar. His body shivered, and he placed his hands into his coat. 'Scary bast*rd.' the man thought.

"If there are complications… Kill the complications," The silhouette muttered while tilting its head to the side, confused at such a question.

"Understood," the man answered. He stood up, intending to leave this place and apply ointment on his damn knees.

The shadow's eyes slowly broadened as the man stood.

The entity fell and landed on all its fours and flashed to him.

The man's heart raced!

He wanted to draw his gun to defend himself, but he suppressed his fear as a reflective visage came upon him. He was too close to act stupid.

"I await… news… of success, 097!" It said, before disappearing into the sea of trees back again.

In another place, an underground cave. Alistair's eyes widened as he stammered. "It's a weapon!"

Everything began to connect, and he understood why the ancient texts held this much value, and Alistair couldn't help but smile.

As he smiled, the rest of the group stared at him with confused expressions.

"Is he… ok?" Salin said as she looked at Isaac.

"I… do… not know," Issac said, while more confused than the rest. He felt Alistair had gone insane.

Elina marched forward and poked Alistair on the shoulder, however, Alistair was in his own realm.

"Alistair, you are acting… what's that word… strange..." She said.

Nonetheless, Alistair still retained his fascination as his eyes glowed blue, and Issac, upon seeing that Elina's attempts fail, said, "Give up Elina, he will-"

"What are you guys talking about!" Alistair replied with a turn, getting out of his daze during Issac's talk.

Issac jumped back, startled at Alistair's interruption.

"Well, you…" Issac said. "You suddenly dazed out and repeated, 'itsaweapon, Itsaweapon, Itsaweapon.' And whats a weapon?"

Alistair realized what happened after listening to Issac's explanation, so he explained himself.

"The words, Issac." Alistair pointed to the symbols on the stones and monolith. "Their blueprints!" He screamed with his hands flying up and down as he looked at the team.

Salin among them replied, "Ah yes, blueprints of course… I totally get it!!!" She nodded and stared at Alistair as if he had gone mad.

Alistair looked at her dumbfoundedly. "Sarcastic much? Anyways..." He looked away from Salin and continued, "It's a blueprint for a weapon."

"A weapon?" They screamed.

"Exact- fucking- ly!!" Alistar said as he held the flanks of his jacket and flexed it.

Isaac appeared skeptical. "How are you so sure?" he asked.

Alistair let go of the flanks. "Well, it's simple." He said with a smirk decorating his face. "Why else would they make it so mysterious? Think about it."

Salin pouted. "We are think–" she said.

"Stop thinking. Let me tell you!" Alistair interrupted. "The defense systems, miners, relation to the outsiders… This is a war weapon… This is a secret weapon!"

Alistair enunciated, but he didn't tell them about the numbers and letters he saw because he wasn't too sure himself of what they entailed.

As Alistair explained, Isaac's expression shifted from contemplative to confused.

"Why did they make an event out of it if it's so secret?" Issac said with a raised brow as he peered at Alistair. "Doesn't it defeat the purpose…? The math isn't mathing, Alistair."

"No, no, no… listen. It's mathing up just add it up and… you'll get the answer."

Alistair defended as his left finger massaged the side of his head.

"Man… you're subtracting me right now," Issac said as he lazily waved his hands to the sides.

"Wow… really!" Alistar asked with clenched teeth. He forced a smile as he clenched his fist. "Are you going to talk about multiplying next?"

Issac waved his head. "I could… but I divided that part out."

"Mother fu—"

Alistair started closing and reopening his palms, praying to whatever god that hung above, to give him the strength not to sock Isaac in the face.

"In addi- I mean in continuation of that… what if…" Alistair paused and smiled. "It's all a trick… By making it public. They managed to make it not public… hiding it in plain sight."

The team glanced at each other. As far-fetched as it sounded, it seemed correct.

'Could he be right,' The team thought of a sentence similar to this.

When they entered deep into their mental space to comprehend the deduction, a voice cut through their contemplation.

"Heyy kiddds!" They heard from their backs; they turned around to see what it was. Behind them were their parents.

Revan stood next to Penelope as they walked to Alistair. Revan ruffled Alistair's hair and put his head in a chokehold; Alistair resisted with his hands pushing Revan's own.

On the left side, Theodore and Elma strode to Issac, and they discussed, with Theodore remaining silent.

Satrina walked to Salin and started yapping, and Salin kept nodding.

They each had their family moments. However, Alistair, who was in a chokehold, managed to look at Elina.

Elina kept observing, in hope of seeing a particular figure. Despite her searches… No one came.

Alistair removed his eyes from Elina and asked his Dad, "Didn't come?"

"Work… " Revan said before letting go of Alistair. He sadly smiled as he scrutinized where Elina eyed.

"He truly became the new me."

Elina's head dropped, and her hair lowered in tandem. "Why?"
