"W-wait… why are you arresting my son?" Verl, whose facial expression slightly changed, can't help but ask in a doubtful tone before a frown replaced his face, "This is wrong. Can't you see that the person is in bad shape?"
After a long silence, Verl and everyone in the room was taken aback by the sudden words coming from the knight as he answered.
"In His Majesty's order, we have the right to arrest your son," The captain knight handed the warrant to Verl while not taking away his gaze at Klein.
The two entered the staring contest that even I find worrisome. The knight's hand was just an inch away from touching the hilt of his sword while Klein seemed like he had ways to grab some weapons through the air as he was in a stance.
They were in a stalemate. As the seconds ticked by, who knows who will do the first draw. The knight who was threatened or the butler who only cared for his employer's son.
Their hands were nearing their weapons when all of a sudden, Verl speak with a much more confused tone, "Everything in here is real… There's the sign of His Majesty and it was approved by Council. But… this was rather fast."
"Orders are orders, Duke Verl. We're very sorry for this inconvenience we've made." The captain knight slightly shot a gaze at me before retracting back to Klein, "I can empathize with what you feel but we have to do this now. We'll let you know after what happened,"
Klein, who was also unlike his usual self, gave Verl a glance and spoke with a mix of respect and threat, "Give me the orders, sir Verl. I will immediately do what you asked."
The respect was for Verl while those threats hidden in his words belonged to the captain knight, who just scoffed and even find it amusing.
Klein slightly move and the knight did the same but they soon stopped when they heard Verl, whose head was slightly lowered, speak.
"Let them do their job. Step aside, Klein,"
Klein frowned for a second before nodding once and retracing his steps. The captain knight nodded in Verl's direction, giving him acknowledgment before the knights grabbed me carefully and without force.
It's to show that they were indeed here with good intentions.
"Noelle, we have a residence here in the capital. When you get back, meet us there, all right? I'll handle everything here in the hospital," Verl, who seemed to come back to his usual self, spoke solemnly.
As to answer him, I gave him a nod. I don't know where the residence he was talking about is but I could just ask anyone around to know where this place is.
Knowing they can't follow me, Verl came to the decision to move everyone into the residence.
Walking out of the hospital with the captain knight on the front, two knights beside me, one at my back, and three knights right behind the knight on my back, we attracted quite a lot of attention.
After a few minutes, seeing the carriage which had a crest presenting a lion with a golden mane with two towers beside it, the sign of Fordent kingdom, they led me inside and the driver of the carriage began moving the vehicle.
Just as I was about to enjoy the quiet ride, the captain knight, who was in my front, spoke without any emotion, "I found it weird that you are calm in the situation you are in. If it's the other nobles and kids, they would've thrown a tantrum,"
He paused, "Especially if it's someone like you who has a history."
Glancing at the night, I can't help but frown, 'His expression is off-putting... Is he wary of me? Is it because he was expecting that I would do what he would've imagined? No, it's far different… I couldn't guess what it is. I couldn't see his whole face since half of it is covered with helms…'
As if he understands what my expression meant, the captain knight said with a tone of wariness, "Just so you know, we have Pieceworks here that could exorcise evil spirits, wraiths, or even remnants of a devil. Furthermore, If you do anything rash, I might accidentally kill you,"
'Huh? Wait… don't tell me he thinks I was being possessed by that devil? Since I was rather calm and my movements excludes a confident demeanor, adding to my mysterious and unexplainable survival had to lead them to that thought. Ah, and this…'
I looked at the chains on my wrist and the knight seemed to notice it and give me some information and advice, "Yes, that chain has some certain restriction to you. Be it human or not, it's a very rare Piecework that is made by Artisans and it's been proven effective,"
"Can I ask where you are taking me?"
The knight furrowed his brows and shakes his head, either indicating that he can't tell, or he even doesn't know where this carriage is going.
I didn't probe more. After waiting patiently for at least half an hour, the captain knight in my front grabbed some bag from his pockets and wore it to my head.
"Trust me, we didn't intend to hurt you until we know what actually happened,'
'Sigh, I would've become nervous right now if Isaac didn't experience the same thing and heard those words. It might be a different person who visited him in the story but still… this leaves a bad impression if everyone took notice,'
I actually know where they were leading me to—The headquarters of the organization The Justice.
Tak—!
'Wait… Isaac didn't receive a smacking in the back—'
I felt a tap coming from the back of my neck, leaving me to fall unconscious, unable to finish my thoughts.
…
"Hello~"
As my vision stabilized, a lady dressed in proper attire with amber eyes, her reddish-black hair in a ponytail, excluding a law-abiding vibe from her aura, waved a hand at me as she was brimming with a smile. She had a face that is above average, perfectly outlining her slender body due to her clothes.
Warily gazing at the lady, I looked around the room. There was a candle in the middle of the table between her and me. The room had four sides. On the left wall, there was a door. On my right is a glass and with simple eyes, one couldn't see what was outside.
There wasn't anything unordinary in the room. There was only the lady in my front excluding a confident demeanor.
This is very likely the interrogation room those knights are hinting at, and Isaac had gone to!
"Hello. How may I address you, ma'am?"
"Very polite. I wonder if those rumors about you are wrong, Noelle," The lady smiled, "You can call me Freya. I'm a very famous Ruiner that everyone knew. Heh, I'm known for using the Lawyer Piece,"
'Lawyer piece… Sounds ordinary,'
Seeing no surprise in my expression, Freya was showing a friendly attitude as she began talking with me about some unnecessary things. Of course, I engage in conversing with her. I even asked myself inwardly what's the purpose of this.
After a while, Freya changed the topic to a serious one, though her attitude didn't change, "Now, Noelle. I want to tell you something. I'll be making a contract, all right? Well, I will not explain more and have to see it yourself,"
Without waiting for me to answer, Freya placed her hands on the table, the two of them sticking together. Next, she slowly spread her hands and a normal-looking goatskin appeared which opened my eyes slightly.
"Awesome, right?"
"The contract… it's just a piece of goatskin…"
"Hehe," As if she liked my answer, Freya raised her hand and snap it, "Here you go,"
Shifting my attention to the goatskin once more, letters started to appear. Clear words are clearly depicted. As if it was printed in a machine yet at the same time, there's no machinery involved!
"Go read the conditions so that you would know this is fair. I'm a lady who adheres to laws after all. I'll patiently wait."
'Adheres laws… hmm, why do I find it familiar?'
Grabbing the goatskin, I immediately headed for the conditions of the contract. They were specifically made by Freya herself, seeing that this is slightly different from other ones.
/Clause 4: Everything the (promisor) and the (promisee) will be talking about right in this room must only stay inside…
Clause 14: Once the (promisee) lies, it will be known to (promisor)…
Clause 26: The (promisor) mustn't ask something out of the line. Once it did so, (promisee) can use dare to (promisor)…
Clause 26.1: On the other hand, (promisee) has to be sure that the question is out of the line. Once it does, (promisee) can reject it. If the (promisee) is wrong about its judgment, the (promisor) can ask a question that should be certainly answered by the (promisee). If the (promisee) lied, refer to clause 14, or (promisor) could implement a dare…
Clause 35: Any party that does harm to another, the victim could implement a dare. The contract will be the judge…
Clause 40:The (promisor) has the right to move and defend himself/herself if (promisee) had done something and vice versa. If the situation happened, refer to clause 35…/
I silently read the conditions which are up to fifty clauses. Everything appeared fair and just. Looking at Freya, I humorously spoke, "You're the promisor?"
"Nah, I think you are," Freya returned the same tone as she smiled, snapping her fingers and a golden pen appeared out of thin air, "Sign your signature on the (promisee) section. After that, we can start. Do you have any objections?"
Silently shaking my head, knowing the contract is just as she said, Freya slid the pen in my direction and I signed the promisee section with the signature I used on Earth.
Heh, it's just random circles and a bit of design at the end.
Freya grabbed the pen and signed the section for the promisor. Once it was done, the goatskin glowed for a second before the (promisee) and (promisor) had respective names of Noelle Portnner and Freya Pollow.
'It didn't register France Neemon, huh. Well, thought so,'
I didn't feel anything unordinary. Freya's expression also didn't change. Waiting for her to say something, I was about to open my mouth when she spoke.
"Now then, Noelle. How about we start from the beginning? I'll introduce myself first," Freya, whose eyes are much glimmering than before, once again introduce herself, "My name is Freya Pillow, my family received the title earl from His Majesty himself two years ago. One of the Four Horsemen of Justice, one of the real members of Council, and everyone who knew me inside the HQ has given me some name that I liked very much,"
She paused, "They call me Balance,"
