"Great. I'll tell much detailed information on the task you will do," Freya clasped her hands in delight, "Hehe, after this, your merits will be enough to become an official Ruiner. You'll have a badge you could use which you will have to renew every two months."
"Eh, really? I don't need really need a badge…" I answered, keeping my true thoughts inwardly, 'It would be nice if it could be converted to a few gold coins since I'll have to pay a hefty amount of sum to someone…'
"Nah, you would need it. I assure you, as long as you're within the territories of the continent and even though not most likely to others, it will be very beneficial. And speaking of badges…" Freya rummaged through her pockets as she showed me a badge.
"Here's your temporary badge! This can be used for a month, which is more than enough for your trip."
'Wow, I felt like being showered with gifts by a generous auntie… Thank you, ma'am Freya!' Happily musing that thought, I smiled, "Being part of something good felt really nice. Helping others is already a bonus."
"Heh," Freya smirked as if she liked what she heard before her face slowly turned serious, "All right, I'll tell you what you needed to do. The first thing you need to know is the banquet that would happen in the Eleyah Kingdom three weeks from now or more importantly, next month's celebration of The World's Tree Existence."
Basically, I will have to attend this celebration and show respect to the World Tree which the elves respect. For the kingdom not to receive a bad image of the elves, they would send an envoy which is me.
At first, I thought this is not part of the job description since I was their informant and it would expose that I was working with them.
Yet, I was surprised by the answer she had given to me.
"You still understand, do you, young master?"
When she said that, she began giving vague clues and I eventually came to the conclusion that I can't but laughed.
'They were trying to get closer to me because they wanted to tell my father Verl that he and The Justice had a good relationship with each other… They were probably not those greedy noble bastards but still… it doesn't make any sense that they wanted to be on good terms with the duke…'
At the same time, Freya clarified that she and her friends had unknowingly stumbled upon information that I was cooperating with them which brought me surprise.
'A spy… traitor?'
I wanted to bring my thoughts out of my mouth but refrain from doing so, afraid that I would cross the line. Since she deliberately told me about this could only mean they were aware.
I was growing confused by the sudden turn of events… I thought Anomalies would be the only problem but these strange events, all happening at the same, must be leading to one point…
The moment our topic was getting adrift to the original, Freya brought it back to its track as she continued her discussion, saying that if I were to reveal being the kingdom's envoy, it would raise the praise of the duke and the kingdom itself.
Another thing she added is not only our kingdom would send their very envoy. The other kingdoms from Froled. The dwarven continent, Argon, and its kingdoms would also send on their own. Lastly, the powerful elves from Eleyah will also come since it was their precious time and celebration.
To sum it up, there are four continents in this world.
Our continent, Froled, belongs to humans. Eleyah for elves. Argon for dwarven and lastly, the continents that belong to monsters from this world, Carovil, the dark continent.
Obviously, only the three would attend the event since you can't negotiate with monsters as they were mindless creatures. Carovil is basically an inhabitant place. Different continents are taking watch of their borders since some monsters might or have come across the continent.
And when I said 'some', that's just me not knowing how many are really there.
"Now, we'll talk about the Informant."
Our Informant's name is Querobin and he's an elf. Giving me an envelope with the guys' information, I saw his image and saw how damn handsome he is.
The reason for The Justice taking this daring move was they needed someone to be a scapegoat which Freya Is not ashamed of mentioning as this was good for the people.
They can't just send hidden people inside the continent to make contact with this Informant. Many eyes are watching and once they have proof, they would surely make this as some sort of hostility to the elves.
That's why showing that I came as an envoy, telling everyone that I proudly represent the kingdom, the Informant would make a way for me to make contact since that's what they talked about.
The event would take a day and the package must be safely brought back to Freya, right at this very table we're having this conversation.
Very detailed plan with no hidden agendas as they cut no corners.
"If there's nothing more, we could end here. Hours already passed since then and if you have no more questions or things to add, I'll see you next month."
"Uhm, there's something I would like to add but it's not really related to this," I said, finally getting right on that topic as placed the box I had brought with me in the middle of the table, "I would like to consult if these Pieces are safe to use and I would like to sell them."
Moving the box around, I opened the box and showed it to Freya. But before she could even reply, I instantly continued.
"I'm planning on selling more in the future. I wanted to find a middleman which could be sold onto. We'll discuss the terms through telegrams and wanted to see if your organization can sell these items. Lastly, these Pieces should be handed to the hands of good people."
"Wait… Pieces are not just something you saw on the ground like apples on a street… Just how many do you have? Are you a Collector?"
"No, I'm not a collector and I will not tell more at this point as long as you answer my question first." I paused, "Don't you have recruits from the institute willing to become part of your organization? How about you do this, give them a Piece as an obligatory gift?
"You can't accept any official ones if there aren't Progression 4 Ruiner above, right? How about you train elites while giving Pieces they could harness? You don't need this to hide. Many people willing to join you will be much good to our side.
"What do you say, ma'am? I could give you as many Pieces as you wanted but the supply and demand must be followed. I'll continue being your Informant of course and it wouldn't affect our relationship at all if you reject it but think about it more carefully."
For a few minutes, the area turned silent as nobody spoke. Freya, who was in much thinking, appeared carefully considering this matter.
This was one of the plans I will like to put to use after exploring the treasure of eve. Use its resources to strengthen the people of this kingdom so that when the Anomalies came, we will be ready.
Be ready so that we wouldn't be afraid of those monsters.
Remembering the time monsters were invading senior Noelle's place, that time still struck my mind.
On the other hand, I wouldn't want to establish a school where I will willingly give Pieces to the students. Imagining that kind of situation… I would just make everyone hostile to me, deliberately telling me that I'm a walking treasure.
It's better to trust and put these matters to the experts while keeping myself unknown, working behind the scenes.
"You are really something, don't you, young master? If what you said is indeed true… can we expect that it will arrive every time? I'll still have to ask my friends for their answers but considering your idea, it didn't sound bad at all. So?"
"Yes, you can expect it. I'll have to borrow some of your money to acquire some workers on delivering, some adventurers to guide it, and some other things needed to take our attention to be put into."
"I see. I wonder what fruitful encounter you had gone to. It must be full of adventures."
"You said it."
Smiling lightly, Freya replied, "Is there more you like to add or tell? Anything is fine, really. I enjoy conversing with you and I wouldn't mind spending a bit of my time."
Letting out an awkward laugh, I tapped the desk and spoke, "Since you'll handle everything regarding our trip there, is there a way for you to handle some papers? Uhm, I wanted to tell you this beforehand that we're really not exactly making a trip towards the Eleyah continent but just one of its territories…
"Actually, we're going to Staath Island before going back but it seems there is a change of plans after this."
Making a stupefied expression, Freya can't help but facepalm herself as she replied, "Why didn't you say so in the first place? I wouldn't be dragging you to this task at all."
"Ahaha, you don't need to worry about it, Ma'am Freya. It's not like I wouldn't gain something from it."
Letting out a sigh, Freya waved her hand, "Consider it done. You'll get it tomorrow and you can leave tomorrow."
Hearing a reply that I wanted to hear the most, I stand up, and moved my hand forward while smiling brightly, "Hope for better cooperation in the future."
Standing up in her place, marking this as the end of our meeting, Freya shakes my hand as she replied, "Likewise."
