'The worst of luck brings us the greatest of fortunes.' Akio kept repeating those words in his head as he contemplated their meaning deeply.
On a surface level, that sentence shouldn't make any sense. To start with, bad luck generally means that the one who has it will face a problem, a hurdle, or some kind of sad fate. So, bad luck is generally linked with misfortune. There was simply no logical link between bad luck and great fortune. They were two terms with completely opposite meanings. It was akin to comparing ice and fire. They are simply of two different natures.
Akio had the same idea as he was one of those who had the displeasure of experiencing what bad luck is. In fact, his whole life is a big bundle of shitty moments stacked on top of each other like a deck of cards in the middle of a poker game. No matter how many cards Akio pulled, he would still get the worst ones. The game was lost before it even started.
