It was now one of the set rules in Class 2 of year 8, that the middle and last bench were only and only for Yaksh. He would sit anywhere between those two benches and students let him since his help in studies sometimes did enough for them to pass.
But today, out of nowhere, he sat,...on the first bench. Right in the middle row and first bench where the class rank 2 would always sit.
He was early was enough shock for everyone but now he had also taken the first seat. What was to ensue when Aadi, the rank 2 arrived, was not to be said. It was obvious that he would declare"atleast a war, if not less.
"You can sit here…" he patted the side remaining on his bench when Aanya was trying to sit on the second bench.
"But, isn't that someone else's seat? If I sit there…" but before she could finish, another voice rang in the classroom.
"Correct. She can't sit there and neither you!" the boy named Aadi, mentioned earlier was standing in front of them.
Aanya could see the exact depiction of the scholar on his face. Since yesterday wasn't much of a long day for her to meet others in school, she only knew Yaksh and Aarav and a few others.
He had brown hair and dark brown eyes. He also wore round specs and had a small scar on his eyebrow.
"Hey, harry potter!" Yaksh commented and half of the class burst out in laughter.
Aadi trembled in anger as he slammed his fist on the bench.
"Stop with that petty joke,..." his voice was hoarse.
"Only you think it's petty, not the others," Yaksh smirked and so did Aarav. He for a part had grudge against Scholars for no reason, except Yaksh.
So to flame the spark more, he would always mock Aadi.
"Hah, I don't even want to fight with you. Just get up and rust at the back of the class," he told Yaksh with distaste in his mouth.
"Well, I don't want to. I have decided to give you a bit of trouble today little potter…." he looked at the kid with a smug look.
There was nothing Aadi could do since their seats weren't fixed. He gave up, contemplated a bit and then went to the second bench where Aarav had decided to sit.
"Ugh, now I have to sit with four eyes all the time? This is all cuz of you." he punched Yaksh lightly on the head who didn't care. He told aanya to sit beside him again.
She apologized to Aadi for taking his seat who didn't even bat an eyes at her. He was already digging his way throught pages of massive szed notes.
"Theres no need to apologize, even first bench doesn't help him rank first." Yet another sting went to Aadi's heart.
Despite him being quite, only he knew how much it hurt to be second place. It wasn't that he didn't try. Even his parents would try to stop him from studying excessively. He had abandoned every means of distraction that would stop him from reaching that long awaited First place.
He always admired Yaksh, until he realised his personality. He despised his casual behaviour towards studies when he was so blessed. He always yearned for such intellect.
Slowly, he started hating him and nothing more. It was pure rivalry for him, to get the first rank. But he never did. It was always his, as if destined to be his for life long.
He was woken up from his thoughts when the teacher entered. The lectures started and Yaksh was attentive. He was taking notes. Even Aadi, who was a monster in terms of noting down points was in awe at how neatly Yaksh was noting the important points.
Aanya just kept looking at her benchmate, who had long forgotten the world was just focusing on the lessons. Even the teachers seemed to be extra energetic.
Maybe it was because the last bencher had finally decided to change?
The mid break started and Yaksh placed all his books inside his bag as he yawned slightly. His eyes were teary so he wiped them and placed his specs back on.
"Lets go for lunch…" a foolish grin was placed on his face as he said that. He had told at home not to pack lunch for him. That he would be eating at the canteen.
Even though his parents couldn't afford to spend so much just on his lunch, they allowed it. Anita shared her allowance with him to not let him be insufficient in regards of money.
According to her, if he ate satisfyingly, it would help him in studies more.
They reached the canteen which was flooding with kids.
"Ugh, its a huge crowd." Aarav groaned. Yaksh poked his mack with elbow and aarav received the signal. Aanya, confused, could only look at them go.
Suddenly, she heard the principals voice echoing in the canteen.
"You brats! Whats this crowd for huh!?" the crowd, in split second got separated and stood in line, facing towards aanya.
She was startled and got aside and was surprised to see Aarav not there. He was owhere to be seen.
"Form a line or else no canteen for two weeks!" his warning made everyone plead in unison.
"Shut up! Why are you screaming like unruly punks!"
Aanya looked around to see her friend only to find, Yaksh walking quietly to the store and purchasing many stuff.
And in few seconds, he was done.
"Now, i hope you follow what i said." and a clacking noise of shoes echoed again hinting them that he had gone away.
"Done!" Yaksh stood infront of her and Aarav too, out of no where.
"W..what was that?" Aanay asked them in pure confusion. They both laughed as Aarav cleared his throat.
"Do you mean me?" The voice was exact same as their principle. He then made sounds of shoes and then a cat.
"Oh god! Thats so awesome!" Aanya said with sparkly eyes. Yaksh chuckled.
"He is whole sound box with numerous recordings." he commented on his friend who was too proud right now to see the danger incoming.
"Aa.ra.v" each letter of his name was spelled, with immense anger. The rage in that voice made him shiver.
"D..divya?" he turned around, seeing a taller girl standing with an annoyed look and bashing her fists together.
"You did it again huh?" she walked towards them.
"I..i am sorry." Aarav whimpered as he stood on his spot. Aanya knew that the girl was angry, really.
But she immediately calmed down when Aarav held her hand and muttered apologies.
While the couple was being all giddy, she noticed Divya's ID. She was their senior by two years!
"H..how?" she asked yakhs in doubt, who knew exactly what she meant. Many had asked him the same question countless times.
"I don't know. Maybe she had a knack for douches." his voice was audible and Divya spun her head towards him. Her hair floated in the air.
She was as beautiful as Aanya.
"I don't, since i don't like you." she pointed her finger at him. Yaksh scoffed.
"Maybe you are fool yourself. You can't distinguish between smart people and fools? Huh senior?" his last words were more of mocking than respect.
Aarav stood between the two, before anything happened.
"Why don't you sit with us for lunch?" Aarav asked his 'Cool' girlfriend who nodded immediately, like a puppy.
Now, this really made Yaksh cringe but also jealous. He looked at Aanya and then sighed. He was waiting for the day, they would be like his friend and his Demon girlfriend. Of course, aanya was an angel.
