We got up bright and early for the bachelorette party. Noemi decided to go more tame as our resident party planner and decided a 'spa relaxation' day was best.
So the girls were flown out to a private villa on a remote island where a whole beauty team was there to get us relaxed before the wedding. Massages, pedicures, head spas, manicures and food made to order was just a few things we had options to do at the villa. Rebecca gifted everyone some special robes to wear in addition to comfortable slippers.
The weather was also nice as people could go for a swim in the warm waters or just sun bathe on the beach.
We all started by getting ready in our rooms and unpacking any of our luggage. I carefully set the stuff Rebecca asked me to bring. I brought out her wrapped gifts to the table where all of her other gifts were perched.
"Goodness Celeste honey your skin is glowing. What is your skincare routine? Or are you glowing for a different reason?" Noemi came out and teased me. She out of all of our friends had a cheeky streak to her personality. She loved to tease.
"Oh no my grandparents gave me some nice skincare from Sicily as thats where they are vacationing right now. I packed some of it so I can let you try them later if you would like." Noemi and Rebecca were easily my closest friends. I trusted them with a lot and I was planning to tell them about Dante later tonight.
I figured having a third opinion would be nice as I was conflicted at the moment. I am not young as I used to be, but everything with Dante is moving too fast. I also had to deal with his parents when I get back.
"Ok ladies lets get pampered." Soon enough all the tension I felt from these past few weeks were massaged out of my body. It has been a while since I pampered myself this way, not having to deal with everything felt wonderful.
As a group, half moved on to facials while the other half did pedicures. "So what do you think the guys are doing Becca?" Crystal, another of our friends asked as the esthetician smeared a face mask on her face and placed cucumbers on her eyes to depuff them.
"Oh we are treating it as a we don't ask and don't tell kind of day. I trust that he will be responsible but its Greg I am worried about." 'Greg?' I tried to picture him but no faces stood out.
"Greg is Alans cousin who came to the engagement party. Kind of scrawny guy with short dirty blonde hair. He has a habit of going overboard and having no filter." The girls murmured when another started giggling. "Sounds like someone we know."
It was not hard to tell who they were looking at. Noemi waved her hand dismissively. She did not even look bothered, in fact she looked kind of proud. "That boy is worse than me. I grew up in this life so I know which boundaries to never cross, he doesn't." She crunched on more of her fruit with wine at her side.
"Yeah apparently Alan said he had nearly crossed Dean at the party last time but thankfully he let it go. However both are at the party and everyone knows Dean is not someone who is subtle, I can't help but shake the feeling of something going wrong."
Dean never told me about having an altercation or issue at the engagement. To be fair we both had bigger fish to fry but still I wondered what Alans cousin said to tick him off. 'No wait. Thats not right. Besides myself, Dean gets flared up at others pretty easily. So it could have been anything.'
I nodded along as the nail artist got to work on my feet. 'Yeah Dean is very lenient to me.' The conversation moved on to other topics as we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the night. My skin was scrubbed smooth and feeling extra silky. My hair felt light and fluffy after the head spa and massage.
I was happy with my nails too. It was one less beauty regiment I need to take care of before the big day. 'I wonder if I get married will my party be like this too?' I looked around the room full of women whom I have grown up with.
I was never one to want to rely on a man to feel complete. But looking at all the happy faces and remembering each event we all took turns coordinating for one another made me feel a wash of sadness. It felt like everyone was reaching these milestones and I was falling behind.
The night wore on and everyone got drowsy from being fully relaxed. The other girls went to their rooms to sleep leaving Rebecca and Noemi with me. We split more wine as we drank together.
"So who is the dream boat you have been seeing?" Noemi asked candidly. I wasn't too shocked at her knowing. Despite my best efforts they were probably one of the few people who could see through me at times.
"Its a long story." I shared the story with them. Noemi looked excited but Rebecca stayed quiet and almost seemed a bit sad. "Do you think I should pursue this, like actually take the plunge and get married?"
"Yes! Oh please let me plan out a dinner to meet him!" She whispered loudly. Careful to not wake up the other girls. I turned to Rebecca who seemed lost in thought. After a few moments she looked up more firm. "Celeste I don't know if you should do this."
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Becca why not he seems like a dreamy man who will take care of her." Noemi interjected. "I can't fully say why but my gut tells me this man is not being honest with you about his intentions. From the start it seems like he already planned out everything and his parents coming? That is too soon, he agreed to meet you and treat this relationship normally but his actions say otherwise."
