It was all happening fast. This was all leading nowhere where she had could have ever thought. Mama Xylia and Father Atticus came. Since they had begun to act weirdly, she had known that something was wrong with them.
However, when Mama Xylia embraced her so warmly like she was never mad at her for running from home, Afina felt some of the walls of her troubles crumbled. To know that her parents hadn't disowned her for defiling their orders was relieving.
Matter of fact, relief was an understatement. Father Atticus also seemed like the happiest man on earth to see that she was doing well. Emotions were flying all over the place that they all forgot for a moment that Prince Cargan, High Priestess Anya, and Royal Advisor Celio were present.
Despite all of the happiness, she could glimpse the tension in her parents. And then— their confessions, it explained a whole lot.
