Qin Shioming sat at the head of the table, his children Qin Tao and Qin Yumei on either side of him.
Across from him sat their nanny, Song Ruoxin. He fidgeted with his utensils, avoiding eye contact with anyone at the table.
Qin Tao, the younger of the two children, was the first to break the silence. "Daddy, why are you eating dinner with us? Why did you come home early?" he asked, his voice laced with confusion.
Qin Shioming cleared his throat before responding. "Well, Qin Tao, I finished all my work earlier today so I came home early. You know I miss having dinner with you two but I have been busy with work lately".
Qin Yumei snorted and rolled her eyes. "You mean you have been out with your girlfriends. You were not thus busy when mummy was alive," she muttered under her breath.
Qin Shioming shot his daughter a stern look before turning his attention back to the food on his plate.
