The silence in the hospital ward was starting to get deafening and uncomfortable too. Mrs. Langley found herself sweating cold sweat, despite the adequacy of the air conditioner in the room as she was waited for Megan's next words.
After what seemed like forever, Megan finally looked up at her and asked, "So, you really are my mother?"
Mrs. Langley nodded solemnly.
Megan nodded too and pushed herself to sit up properly.
"How comes I grew up without you?" She asked, her voice breaking. "How comes I never knew you? Never heard of you? How? Why?"
Mrs. Langley took a few moments to calm her quivering voice before saying, "It's a long story, dear."
Megan shrugged.
"I have nothing better to do obviously," She said. "I will like to hear it all, if you will tell me."
"Okay," Mrs. Langley said and stared into the ceiling, as if looking for the way to fixate her words.
