Michael furrowed his brows. "But if I am with you, I will be bogged down! I have no interest in moving with a weakling! You'd best stay here, I will give some rewards when I come back !"
Lucifer didn't like Michael's tone at all; it was the kind of scorn and belittling of the weak by the strong, so obvious and deep to the bone. Even though Michael was doing it out of goodwill, this kind of attitude made him exceptionally uncomfortable. Moreover, Lucifer had other plans, so he directly ignored Michael's attitude and opinion of refusal, bringing out a tactical map.
"We'll advance according to the path, staying at a distance from one another. We'll move independently, and won't interfere with each other. That way we cover more ground and eventually meet at the Lab's entrance." Lucifer creased his eyebrows as well.
Michael spoke out. "Your path leads to the Miasmic Swamp. Are you sure you can handle it?"
Lucifer laughed as he spoke. "The creatures there are only level-1 creatures, it's simple enough for me!"
Michael took a deep look at Lucifer, and then the vacant look in his eyes disappeared, finally revealing the haughtiness and iciness hidden behind his gaze, "It seems you're very confident in yourself. But in my eyes, this kind of confidence is no different from foolishness! In the eyes of a level-2 mutated beast. A Genetic Soldier is but an ant that they could squish with the slightest bit of effort. If you truly wish to come along, then so be it. I can only tell you, that the current you following me will merely guarantee your death."
"People have foretold my death since long ago, this is nothing different." Lucifer's voice also grew increasingly cold.
Michael creased his eyebrows and his expression turned strange. 'Was it what he was thinking?'
Lucifer saw his expression and his face darkened."I do not have an ounce of interest toward you, I merely want to see if I can earn anything from the lab!"
"Then do whatever you want."
Just like this, their conversation ended rather unpleasantly, and the two of them finished off the table full of food in silence.
Lucifer took the other side of the cave. He sat crossed legged while feeling the amount of evolution points within him.
While Michael meditated they didn't put more wood in the fire when it came off. It was dangerous having for long anyways.
Michael opened his eyes and it was already morning.
"Alright, let's move."
Lucifer nodded his head, packed his things and also stood up to leave. The growling cayotes were excited to have their home back. The forest was incredibly dangerous to them as well and the only place they feel safe is within the cave. They didn't dare move too far in fear of being preyed on by a far stronger beast.
When they parted, Lucifer face finally turned serious. The feeling Michael gave him was similar to that man who stabbed him multiple times.
He could still feel the multiple wounds inflicted on him by the blade as he moved. It had only been a couple hours yet, but it was starting to heal. Thankfully, the injury didn't affect his defense otherwise he wouldn't have stated to pass through the swamp
Remembering the feeling Michael gave him, This could only mean that the youth was no ordinary individual. Moreover, he has two level of perception which was quite surprising. Not many people have the luxury to have so much evolution points. Even one does, there was still the factor of talent. Without talent, the body would not be able to evolve.
Most people remain a super soldier their entire life while the lucky ones evolve as a Super soldier but unable to become an evolver. Michael seem to be a level-3 evolver in one aspect and level-2 soldier in another aspect.
"What a waste." Lucifer shook his head. He wished he could just absorb Michael's evolution points and utilize it to strengthen his bodily cells. He would finally be a level-3 evolver!
Thinking about the placements of evolution Lucifer became a little gloomy as he thought about his actions during the life and death battle he was in. Under that extreme stress, his body had reacted and distributed evolved his cells to drastically increase his own rate of survival, which ultimately helped him in the end.
After walking for about two hours, he eventually arrived at the swamp. He needed to pass this swamp to get to his destination.
"Sigh." He released a breath of fog floating above the large swamp before him.
There were short and thick, cone-shaped trees, small leafy plants that curled around in a spiral, vine-like rattans that brushed against the top of his head as he walked under them, and amazingly colored, mystical flowers that had petals the size of large washbowls… there was also a muddy, stinky pond…
Radioactive elements turned the surface of the swamp into different colors and making it a perfect home home for dangerous mutants.
Though all of this made it seem like this was just a normal swamp, Lucifer knew very well that he could never take even half a step in if he had two levels in defense.
For all those animals and plants, which were able to survive in this deadly swamp, were frightening mutants who would eat every little bit of the humans they encountered, not even leaving their bones behind.
Those plain looking short trees were actually quite frightening. If a person got close enough to them, their curled up branch would instantly expand, grabbing and holding the person within its tight clutches. At that moment, the bloodsucking rattans, which were hanging on these trees, would coil up around that person, poking countless sharp thorns into their body, slowly sucking the blood out of their body, drop by drop.
After the person's blood was completely dried up, the remaining skin, flesh, and bones would become the best fertilizer for these killer trees.
